1979 Pontiac Trans Am on 2040-cars
Martin, Kentucky, United States
Body is in great shape with no rust or dents. The body has 52,000 original miles. It has a completely rebuilt 403 Cu In engine with a new 4 barrel Elderbrock carb, new starter, water pump, and fuel pump. The engine has less than 50 miles on it. It has new headers, mufflers, and pipes all the way out. There is a new 350 Street Strip automatic transmission and a 342 positive traction rear end. 4 new tires, new breaks, and new carpet. All the glass, T-tops, and hood scoop are in great shape. The interior needs a little work and the car needs a paint job. The car is about 80% restored. Mechanically the car runs awesome it just needs some cosmetic work. Reason for selling is bad health. On Mar-05-14 at 12:10:06 PST, seller added the following information: All the interior is there. The dash is in good shape with no cracks and the headliner is good. The door panels are a little rough but can be used. I have new motors for the automatic windows that need to be put in and there is a new center console. The motor also has a new set of 350 big valve heads on it. The 403 cu. in. motor in the car is the original motor but has since been rebuilt. It has all the standard size parts but does have a over-sized cam. Mechanically this car runs great. I also have the original honeycomb rims. The original color of the car is blue but it was painted gray when I purchased it. With a little work on the interior and a new paint job this would make a great car to show or cruise around in. |

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable
Fri, 21 Sep 2012General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero
Fri, 26 Oct 2012At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."
Sci-fi movie Jinn features car designer, Firebird-bodied Camaro
Tue, 08 Apr 2014If you're an automotive engineer being tormented by an immortal being made of fire, then wouldn't you think it best to have a custom coupe called the FireBreather for your getaway car? That's the FireBreather in the image above, adorned by the red wings that once fronted the Pontiac Firebird, running away from a black cloud of evil in a trailer for the movie Jinn.
The Jinn is eternal evil, always waiting for the chance to make things float across rooms before going on homicidal urban rampages. The FireBreather is a Gen-V Chevrolet Camaro - from the V6 to the ZL1 - that's been through Classic Design Concepts' extensive list of exterior and interior modifications, including entirely new front and rear fascias and side skirts, sway bars and springs, Pirelli P Zeroes and an available Edelbrock supercharger.
The movie - FireBreathing chase scenes and all - was shot in Monroe, Michigan. You can watch the trailer below, but since the FireBreather only get a couple of seconds on screen, you can find out more about it on Street Legal TV and its official site.
