1979 Pontiac Trans Am T-top 6.6 Litre on 2040-cars
Chester, New Jersey, United States
1979 Pontiac Trans Am T-top 6.6 Litre 403 Olds. Has power steering, power brakes, A/C, tilt
wheel, automatic trans., rally II wheels.
Has the original AM/FM radio.
Have original build sheet from under the seat and other documentation
and manuals. I bought the car as project with my kid but ended up being a
little more than I wanted. This car will
need a new trunk pan, new floor pan and a driver’s door skin and other things a 35 year old car would need. Has some rust in lower rear quarters but not bad at all. The car starts right up, runs, shifts, stops and
drives. Just replaced the starter. Doors close exceptionally
well, no typical Firebird sag. The A/C
compressor moves freely but does not engage when you turn the AC on.
Looks like the previous owner replaced the front brakes. Has the stock exhaust including catalytic
converter. I have only taken it for a
small ride down my street as it has not been registered. Please note that this is not a turn-key car. It has rust and will need work but will be well worth the time and effort. Great colors on a pretty loaded car and is the last year for the big V-8. I have set the reserve at a reasonable amount which is well below what I paid for the car just last summer. Please ask any questions and get your wife's permission to buy before you bid. The car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. |

Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later
Fri, 12 Sep 2014
Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."
1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction
Mon, 01 Aug 2011For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.
Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial
Sat, 16 Mar 2013
The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
