1979 10th Anniversary Trans Am

Up for sale is a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am 10th Anniversary edition.

Exterior:
The car has had one repaint, 20 years ago and needs some TLC. There are some chips, scratches, dents.   The silver area has been repainted and the charcoal area is original. The hood still has the original bird on it.  There is some rust on the passenger side lower quarter panel ( see picture ).  The mirror T-Tops are in excellent condition. Still has the original wheels with newer tires.  Floors and trunk floor are all solid.

Interior:
The interior is all original except for the front bucket seats, which were reupholstered. The one rear seat has a tear in it (see Pic ).  The dash, center console have no cracks.  The sail panels are in good shape just need a repaint. The Interior shows very well considering age and mileage.  The original am/fm radio with 8 track is still present. The clock on the dash still works.  PW, PL work.

Engine:
403 Olds Automatic.  Runs and drives good, shifts through all gears fine.  Slight exhaust leak from pass. side manifold.  The car has 158448 miles, however the title shows 161532 because the previous owner transferred the title and over estimated the mileage instead of verifying actual mileage. The car was in storage at that time.  So basically the miles are over about 3,084.

The car is a very nice original driver, and with a little work can be a very nice show car. I have disclosed everything I know about this vehicle. If you have any questions feel free to contact me through ebay and I will get back to you.  A $500 deposit is due with in 24 hrs of auction close through pay pal. Balance due with in one week of auction close. PLEASE NOTE: ALL FUNDS MUST CLEAR BEFORE VEHICLE IS RELEASED. NO EXCEPTIONS!!

Happy Bidding!!!!!!!

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable

Fri, 21 Sep 2012

General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.

Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.
