1979 TRANS AM WITH T TOPS , 6.6 LITRE / AUTOMATIC TRANS. VERY CLEAN / PROPERLY STORED AND LOADED!

THE WHITE STREAKS YOU SEE IN THE INTERIOR PICTURES ARE SNOW FLURRIES THAT JUST STARTED FLYING! SORRY.

HERE IS YOUR CHANCE TO PURCHASE A VERY CLEAN TRANS AM. THIS CAR HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF OVER THE YEARS. THE SHEET METAL IS EXCELLENT. LOOK AT THE PICTURE OF THE ORIGINAL FLOORS BEFORE THE NEW CARPET WAS INSTALLED! JUST HOW YOU WANT IT. THE PAINT IS WHAT I WOULD CALL DRIVER QUALITY. IT SHINES NICE BUT HAS SOME IMPERFECTIONS HERE AND THERE. CAN CERTAINLY BE DRIVEN AND ENJOYED AS IS. THE ORIGINAL BIRD ON THE HOOD SHOWS ITS AGE. IF YOU CHOSE TO RESPRAY THE PAINT IT WOULD BE AN EASY ONE DUE TO THE CONDITION OF THE SHEET METAL AND EXISTING PAINT.

THE MOTOR RUNS EXCELLENT AND THE TRANS SHIFTS GREAT! THE CAR DRIVES VERY WELL. LOOK AT THE FACTORY PAINT MARKINGS ON THE VALVE COVER! VERY ORIGINAL UNDER THE HOOD. REALLY DOES NOT NEED ANYTHING AT THIS TIME MECHANICALLY. THE SNOWFLAKE WHEELS HAVE FADED SOME OVER TIME. THE TIRES STILL HAVE SOME LIFE LEFT.

THE DELUXE INTERIOR IS IN OVERALL NICE CONDITION. THE SEATS LOOK GOOD FOR THERE AGE. THERE IS SOME WEAR ON THE EDGES AS TO BE EXPECTED. THE DASH CAP LOOKS GREAT. THE CARPET IS NEW. THE DOOR PANELS ARE VERY NICE. PLASTIC TRIM AND HEADLINER ARE GOOD TOO.

THIS IS THE KIND OF CAR YOU WOULD LIKE TO INVEST IN DUE TO THE OVERALL CONDITION AND THE PRICE. HARD TO FIND THEM THAT HAVE NOT BEEN BEAT AND RUSTED OUT.

THE CAR IS BEING SOLD AS IS AND HAS NO WARRANTY. A $1,000 NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED WITHIN 48 HOURS OF AN ACCEPTED OFFER. CALL JOHN WITH ANY QUESTIONS AT 517-294-2602

PLEASE DO  NOT MAKE ANY OFFERS UNLESS YOU HAVE THE $ TO SPEND NOW.

Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.
