1980 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am   This is a Turbo Bandit Trans Am
This is a Y84 special edition Trans Am. This is a  barn find that I have had for about 8 years now. I have not had time to start this project and a recently lost the warehouse that I was storing the vehicle in. So its now for sale.   Title is clear and reads exempt. I was told when I bought the car that it had only 22,053 miles on it. That it had been stored in a barn/car port for 20 years.

Rust actually is only apparent on the floors. Even then its minimal except for the drivers pedal area. Looks like someone cut the floor board area where it meats the lower firewall area. I think this was done to install headers on the engine that someone put in the car at one time. A poor repair job has been done on the floors. To do it correctly the drivers side front floor section should be replaced.

Quarter panels are real nice and rust free. . Doors are in good shape . Both fenders and the hood are in real nice shape but will need minor work.

I believe the mileage to be the actual 22,053 due to the shape of the body mounts, suspension bushings, control arms, springs and such.  Its just a shame that someone took this car apart years ago to put a Pontiac 350 motor in it and never put the car back together. Original fenders, hood and facial were all gone when I purchased the car. The ones you see in the pictures are good and usable.

So what you have is a good solid body and frame to work with.

Two engines and the original transmission come with the car as well.

One 301 Turbo Motor with 19,000 original miles on it. * I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS IS THE ORIGINAL #S ENGINE FROM THE CAR.*

One 350 Pontiac motor that was in the vehicle and running when I bought it.  Code XC HEAD CODE 4C

One original 350 trans that came with the car.

Two sets of Turbo's, Carburetors, exhaust manifolds, turbo pipes etc.

All the parts in the pictures.

It would be nice if someone would bring this Bandit back to life.

I just don't have the time or the place anymore.

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.

GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes

Mon, 01 Oct 2012

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.
