Up for auction is my 1980 Pontiac Indianaplis 500 Pace Car edition Turbo Trans Am. My Uncle bought the car brand new on June 3, 1980 with 47 miles on it. Not long after that did he unfortunatly die of cancer. Than his brother (my other uncle) inherited it. When my uncle no longer used the car he gave it to me. So technically I am the third owner, but it has been in the family since new. It now has 65,845 original miles. Numbers Matching. It has a 4.9L 301V8 Turbo engine and Automatic transmission. It runs and drive good. The car was partially restored about 5 years ago. After restoration it was only driven a handfull of times and always garage kept. The body is in great shape. Tires are brand new. It has T-tops and the original bags from the dealer to store them in. The interior is all there but the dash pad is cracked and the rest could use a real good cleaning. Everything works. I also have the paper work that came from the dealer such as, the Warranty information card, Delco Stereo manual, Goodyear spare tire information, Maintenance schedule, seat belt procedure, owners manual, and various maintenance records. I remember having the build sheet but have missplaced it but am still trying to find it. If you have any questions about the car please email me. Thank you.

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.

Here's the breakdown for this most recent set of recalls:

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.
