you are bidding on a 1981 trans am turbo car with 64662 miles on it. lets start out by saying this is a project car, project has been started but needs to be completed.  i bought this car about 5 years ago with good intentions on redoing the car and enjoying it but have since lost interest and i need the space in the garage. it has nice new white paint that is about 1 year or so old, it was applied to a rust free body.  it is very straight not wavy at all it is a very nice job . the car was rustproofed when it was new by rusty jones.. i have installed new weather strip window fuzzies new sill plates new tires wheels were polished.  the dark blue interior is good but not perfect. the seats are nice but passengers side has 2 splits in it. the dash is very nice not broken at all dash bezel is nice has factory amfm stereo the gauges work tach works . the sport wheel is very nice has tilt cruise power windows power locks. also has air conditioning but is not working.  4 wheel disc brakes swaybars  posi rearend all the good stuff. the door panels are also nice not cut up door pulls are intact not broken. the interior plastic trim needs help it is dry  rotted and cracked i believe you could redye some of it but the rear interior panels are cracked up and need to be replaced.  the carpet is in good shape no holes. the console is nice but the hinge is broken. the rear view mirror is there but needs to be put back on the windshield the package tray needs to be painted or replaced headliner is nice the trim was removed that is why the sides are hanging. now for the drive line. the car was sold to be as being 64000 original mile car i do believe it i have no paperwork to prove it but i dont believe there is a 301 capeable of 164000 miles, anyway with that being said  i do believe it to be a numbers matching car but you would know better than i do on how to figure that out.... it had sat for many years in indoor storage before i got the car  without being run. i got it home did a bit of work and it started right up. the car runs but does need work. it runs rough the choke light is on i would guess the choke is not working. it needs a tune up. it leaks trans and engine oil. the emmision air pump chatters. i have see no sign of it burning oil the engine does seem solid that way.  the turbo sounds good and solid you can hear it spool up nicely. all the turbo items are there and look to be untouched.. you will need to plug in the lights all in place but not pluged in just did not finish that hood latch is not installed that is why the hood looks to be up a bit in the pics, it closes even but the latch is not bolted in. ( it is included) the front and rear window trim is there but needs to be installed. since i put the new weatherstrip in the doors could use an adjustment. the trunk has been redone with new splater paint again that was also rust free when started. also included but not pictured is the original bumper jack set up with jack, hook, base and spare tire. keep in mind you will need to trailer the car you will not be able to get in and drive it home...  i have done my best to describe everything on the car if you have questions concerns or want to look at the car please ask or come and look. it is located in south milwaukee wisconsin 53172. there is a 500.00 non refundable deposit due within 24 hours of the completion of the auction. the rest is due within 30 days of the close of the auction when the car must be picked up ( within 30 days of close of auction) IAM NOT SHIPPING ARRANGING OR DEALING WITH SHIPPING BEEN THERE DONE THAT NOTHING BUT TROUBLE. you will need to pick it up... so if you are not afraid to get dirty and do some work you can have a very nice car when done. i have spent alot of money on this project already but it is time it needs to go. thanks and good luck!

CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."

Watch this garbage truck consume a Pontiac Grand Am

Wed, 15 May 2013

When an old car or truck offers its dying breath in your driveway and you just don't have the financial or mechanical wherewithal to resuscitate it yet again, you traditionally have to go to the trouble of calling a flatbed or a tow truck to come haul it away. That usually helps to put a few bucks in your wallet and helps recycle some of the vehicle's parts, but the transaction doesn't seem as final or perversely satisfying as the dispatch service that this New Way Cobra Magnum garbage truck offers.
Okay, okay, so this refuse hauler isn't actually designed for this sort of thing, but it's oddly comforting to know that a sanitation truck can compact a hapless Pontiac Grand Am into oblivion. Next time, we won't feel so guilty about slipping that rusty charcoal grille onto the curb next to the cans on garbage day. Watch the carnage by scrolling below.

GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes

Mon, 01 Oct 2012

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.
