This beautiful '82 Trans Am is in excellent original-type condition. I am the 3rd owner and it has never been driven
in the Winters and stored inside most of the time year-round. Have the original build sheet,
owner's manual, various service records, etc. to show it has been cared for very well.
This car is ready to drive & enjoy. It handles very well. All the suspension is tight and
the drivetrain is rock solid.
Recently replaced items during the last couple of years include new starter, New Radiator, & new Cruise Control Unit, Belt moldings.
140,000 miles. You will be hard-pressed to find a cleaner and better-cared-for Trans Am of this
vintage. This car has many hard to find original items and has always been kept in tact as
original besides the addition of the old style full sized Firebird decal on the hood.

The T-tops and weatherstrips are in great shape and do not leak. The dash pad has no cracks
or blemishes and the entire interior is almost perfect except for one small spot on the
driver's seat outer edge which was "patched" as you can see in the photo.
The car was repainted many years ago, I was told but it looks fantastic still with no fading or peeling areas at all, no dirt in the paint, etc. and it has a very smooth finish with little or no orange peel. Not full of bondo either. It appears to have been done very professionally

This car is very fun to drive and reliable. I have the original stereo too, if that is
something that matters to you. This is a great car for collectors!

I will try to show detailed photos of any of the imperfections on my photobucket page.

Things That need attention in order to be perfect:

1.Air conditioning compressor probably needs to be replaced. I charged it and it worked but was noisy and lost the charge so I unplugged it. All parts are still bolted on
2. Left turn signal does not cancel automatically when you finish turning.
3. Once in a while, wipers do not shut off with switch until car is shut off. Looking into that now but I would never drive it in the rain or when wipers are needed so that has not been a priority.
4. Driver's seat has small spot on outer edge that needs to be reupholstered (as shown in photos and youtube video)

These are all small items that are probably only of concern to the perfectionists but I wanted to disclose as much as possible.

Thanks!

GM recalling another 2.7 million vehicles in five separate campaigns

Thu, 15 May 2014

The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles.
The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles - some of them the same models - but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago.
The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents.

Sci-fi movie Jinn features car designer, Firebird-bodied Camaro

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

If you're an automotive engineer being tormented by an immortal being made of fire, then wouldn't you think it best to have a custom coupe called the FireBreather for your getaway car? That's the FireBreather in the image above, adorned by the red wings that once fronted the Pontiac Firebird, running away from a black cloud of evil in a trailer for the movie Jinn.
The Jinn is eternal evil, always waiting for the chance to make things float across rooms before going on homicidal urban rampages. The FireBreather is a Gen-V Chevrolet Camaro - from the V6 to the ZL1 - that's been through Classic Design Concepts' extensive list of exterior and interior modifications, including entirely new front and rear fascias and side skirts, sway bars and springs, Pirelli P Zeroes and an available Edelbrock supercharger.
The movie - FireBreathing chase scenes and all - was shot in Monroe, Michigan. You can watch the trailer below, but since the FireBreather only get a couple of seconds on screen, you can find out more about it on Street Legal TV and its official site.

'67 Chevy Corvair convertible vs. '86 Pontiac Fiero in cult classic showdown

Fri, 22 Aug 2014

Every few a decades, the folks running General Motors lose their minds briefly try to market a car that public doesn't see coming and often aren't ready for. In the '60s there was the rear-engine, air-cooled Chevrolet Corvair, then the mid-engine Pontiac Fiero in the '80s and the completely bizarre Chevy SSR in the 2000s. What all of these had in common was that they bucked the trend for American models of their era, for better or worse. The latest episode of Generation Gap tasked the hosts with finding two cult classic vehicles to choose between; they came come up with two of these quirky products from The General.
On the classic side, there's a 1967 Chevy Corvair Monza convertible. Being from later in the production run, it wears slightly more aerodynamic styling than the earlier, boxier examples. Hanging out back is an air-cooled, 2.7-liter flat-six pumping out a robust 95 horsepower. In the other corner is the somewhat more modern 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE with a mid-mounted, 2.5-liter "Iron Duke" four-cylinder, an engine nearly ubiquitous in GM cars of the '80s.
Judging by when they were new, the Corvair was far more successful than the Fiero with over 1.8 million sold. Of course, Ralph Nader's book Unsafe at Any Speed kind of poisoned the well, even if the poor safety reputation wasn't entirely deserved. The Fiero on the other hand only lasted for a few model years before shuffling off, but it eventually got its own performance boost with the V6 version and rather attractive GT models. Check them both out in the video and tell us in Comments which you want in your garage.
