Selling my 1982 Pontiac Trans Am MR MSE #195 of 500 built.

The car was built by Pontiac and then shipped to Mecham Auto in Arizona where their mechanics upgraded 500 Trans Am's for the SCCA races. Pontiac was not allowed to participate in the SCCA races unless they could build a Trans Am capable of handling the race. These Trans Am's went to the SCCA's to win!!!

The car had a pretty nice set up as far as the 80's are concerned.
Power windows/locks/antenna/mirrors/trunk release

The Recaro interior is in AMAZING shape. Especially being 30 years old. The seats hug as well as the car hugs turns with it's Koni suspension.

Mecham Racing put their personal touches with their badges on the horn, hood, rims and #195 of 500 plate.

It has cams, headers, new magnaflow cat, holley 4 bbl carb, edlebrock manifold and positrac.

Unfortunately I haven't taken it to a dyno so I'm unsure of the HP. I know it's a fun ride with that jerk into the seat feeling. Traction is great and car shifts quickly. I have never ragged the car but I'm not the first owner.

I've looked over the car as much as I could in my own garage and it has very few surface rust spots.

In the past month I've replaced a cracked plastic on the door panel, heater core/hoses/adapters, power window motor, trunk release relay, air cleaner element, antifreeze, speedometer cable and drive gear(speedometer started bouncing), all 8 or so rear tail light bulbs.

I rewired the radio to bypass the factory amp. The last owner replaced the radio with a factory "match" and crossed all the wires during the install so I've completely rewired them all correctly. The horn button also had a loose wire and that has been fixed as well.

The car does need: an armrest door (haven't looked around for that yet... wasn't a major concern for me) and some touch up paint/sanding for the small rust spots. (3 I think... each are smaller than a nickel). The rear hatch needs new shocks.... roughly $20 a piece.

All in all, this is a fun car. Rare find anymore. A piece of American history.

NHTSA investigating 550k Pontiac G6 models, 320k Honda Odysseys

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

According to two separate reports in The Detroit News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching investigations into 550,000 Pontiac G6 (pictured above) and 320,000 Honda Odyssey (pictured right) models. The G6 models are all from the 2005 to 2007 model years, while the Odyssey minivans are from the 2003 and 2004 model years. The two NHTSA probes are not related.
In the case of the G6, this is an upgrade to an original investigation that started in February after NHTSA received "hundreds of reports" that the brake lights on these cars may malfunction. According to The Detroit News, the lights may come on when the brake pedal is not depressed, and likewise, the brake lights may not illuminate when the pedal has been pushed. General Motors was able to provide NHTSA with a significant number of warranty claims, including 1,100 reports that could potentially relate to this problem, one of which indicates a vehicle crash.
For Honda, the NHTSA probe concerns airbags that may deploy unexpectedly. The government agency received six complaints from 2003-04 Odyssey owners saying that the front airbags suddenly went off without a crash. The Detroit News reports that three of the six owners sustained injuries from these incidents. Additionally, NHTSA has received 41 complaints from owners saying the vehicle's airbag warning light had illuminated.

eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile

Sun, 29 Apr 2012

Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.

2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am

Mon, 13 May 2013

No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.
