1983 Mecham Racing Motorsports Edition Daytona 500 Pace Car Trans Am. #95.

This was the car that was sent to Mecham Racing for the MSE conversion and sold by Thibideau Pontiac in Tucson, as confirmed by Dennis Mecham.  I talked to Dennis before I bought the car to confirm authenticity.  I do have the Mecham Plaque.

New Recaro interior. Mecham gauges. Mecham Steering Wheel. Mecham Tri-Y headers. 0 miles on car.  1LE sway bars with new Koni shocks, every suspension piece is powdercoated and assembled with urethane bushings. 5 Speed. 406" with ported Victor Heads and Intake, Roller Comp Blower Cam, Lunati Pro Mod Billet engine assembly (crank, pistons, rods), 11:1 compression, Procharger, QuickFuel Carburetor, Single 4" Pro Dyno Exhaust, Jesel Rockershaft Setup, Gear Drive.  Aluminum Radiator.  Engine has TPI serpentine setup along with TPI blower drive setup off of the serpentine.

Wheels are currently 1984 Pace Car wheels but I have the original Daytona Aero Wheels as well as the original Daytona Floormats....both of these are extremely rare.

Just painted by Heath Elmer Restorations (healthelmer.com).  Heath does all of the graphics for Dennis Mecham and Heath has authenticated the car as well.  Heath an I have owned probably 15 of the various Mecham Trans Am's and Z28's over the years;  Heath and I have followed this car for years.  I remember this car at Mecham Racing when I used to go there in high school. I have not driven the car other than pull in and out of the garage.  Engine was properly broken in and was blueprinted and balanced by Basko Racing Engines and assembled by Joe Martin Racing Engines both of which you may contact for more information.

I have lost interest in the car and it has sat for the past year awaiting completion...I just got into another type of car interest.  The car needs weather stripping, then to have the door panels put on after the weatherstripping, then put on the road for a shakedown run and front end alignment.  Currently has no stereo system but all of the speakers are new and installed.  Dismantle Title.... means you will have to get it inspected to get a salvage title.

You can finish this car or at the very least you get an incredible sounding powerful motor that is delivered in one rare shipping container called a Trans Am MSE.

$1000 deposit within 48 hours of the end of the auction.  I reserve the right to end the auction early as I have it up for sale locally.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.

Howard Stern latest in Seinfeld's passenger seat for CiCGC

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

We'll be honest: the actual cars in Jerry Seinfeld's hit internet series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, typically take a back seat to the celebrities in the front row. Seinfeld usually throws in a few lines about his classic wheels in the first minute or so, and then moves on to the important business of sprightly conversation and pithy one-liners. It's great.
This time around, with legendary motormouth Howard Stern riding shotgun, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that might have been a co-star, gets forgotten about almost completely. Instead, Stern spends a tremendous amount of screen time extolling the virtues of his therapy sessions, attempts to dive into Seinfeld's prowess as a lover and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Pretty much to plan, then.
Scroll below to hear Howard accuse Jerry of acting like Jesus, just before declaring himself the greatest radio personality in the history of the business.

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels

Sat, 14 Dec 2013

We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.
