Up for bid a 1984 Pontiac Trans Am, was bought in 2003 by myself with the intention on building a Knight Rider Replica car.  This car is an 84 model (last year of the carburated engine) is equipped with hood scoop, automatic transmission, power windows, locks, mirrors, cruise control, ground effects, 305L H.O. engine.  Had car registered, insured, inspected in NC and driving for a while until insurance became too much at the time. Car has 62,000 original miles on it.  New parts that I put on the car while in my possession are master cylinder, rear hatch seal, rear seats, fuel line, clutch fan, an aluminum drive shaft, speakers all around, trans pan gasket and filter and new paint job.  Of course all fluids have been changed and was well maintained while driving.  The only thing it really needs are valve seals due to smoking at idle and was hit by a pretty good hail storm so has some hail damage.  Car was parked under a tree so damage is somewhat minimal to my standards.  No glass was ever broken or cracked during the storm.  Car sat before I got my hands on it so could use a complete gasket replacement overhaul.  Otherwise car ran great, trans shifted strong, and all electrical seems to be in order.  No major rust on car except for slight surface rust around T-Tops and a little around the bottom of door jams.  Car has been in the south all its life.  Tires and rims are the same ones that came with the car when I bought it.  The tires have plenty of tread left on them, but have flat spots and are dry rotted.  It has a battery in it but cannot get it to take a charge or jump off to start car.  No head liner from T-Tops leaking which occurs from a lot of the GM's with T-Tops from the 80's.  Car has a clean title and in hand.  I apologize that the car is dirty it is not at my house instead at a friends house where I now live about 800 miles away from it. If anyone would like to look at it I have family members that live within 8 miles or 10 minutes away from its location.  Just need a day advance notice and can have someone meet you at its location.  I believe I have covered everything on the car I can think of.  If you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Car is being sold as is.  Pick up only, will not ship car. A $250.00 deposit required within 48 hours via pay pal after winning auction. Final payment due within 7 days of auction close. For inquiries about the car please call (203)206-1543 and I will be happy to answer any questions. If I don't answer please leave a message and I will return your call as promptly as I can.  Thanks for looking.

Watch this garbage truck consume a Pontiac Grand Am

Wed, 15 May 2013

When an old car or truck offers its dying breath in your driveway and you just don't have the financial or mechanical wherewithal to resuscitate it yet again, you traditionally have to go to the trouble of calling a flatbed or a tow truck to come haul it away. That usually helps to put a few bucks in your wallet and helps recycle some of the vehicle's parts, but the transaction doesn't seem as final or perversely satisfying as the dispatch service that this New Way Cobra Magnum garbage truck offers.
Okay, okay, so this refuse hauler isn't actually designed for this sort of thing, but it's oddly comforting to know that a sanitation truck can compact a hapless Pontiac Grand Am into oblivion. Next time, we won't feel so guilty about slipping that rusty charcoal grille onto the curb next to the cans on garbage day. Watch the carnage by scrolling below.

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
