The Body Does Need Some Work Was Involved In An Accident. See Description Below."

I am selling this car because I no longer have an interest in it. I bought this car last year around May. It was involved in an accident and I was intent on restoring it. I have since lost the drive too. This is an 1988 Trans Am. It has the 5.7 TPI 350 Chevy V-8. I have done some restoring work on this car. I have had the original transmission rebuilt and added corvette shift servos around August of last year. The fuel pump was also replaced around the beginning of this year. Around March of this year, the rear trans-axle also went out and I had that replaced as well. Since both replacements, it has been driven 2,000 - 2,500 miles so practically still new. In this spring I also replaced the rear tires. In April, I went through and gave this car a thorough tune up. I replaced all vacuum hoses, radiator hoses, thermostat. I replaced spark plugs, wires, ignition coils ect all with OEM parts as well. The car itself runs fine, no electrical problems; all power windows, power locks, radio, air conditioner, ect work. Every now and again I have a slight cylinder misfire. Although not a major problem I can't seem to locate the source. It does need some body work. As previously mentioned, it was involved in a small collision located on the front driver quarter panel is where most of the damage is. There was no damage to the frame of the car, just the panel, which I have removed in previous hopes of replacing. I have bought a new quarter panel, I just did not install it. I also have a replacement hood, since the one on the car was damaged. I never installed it either. Also, I still have all the old parts that were damaged in the accident. The car, all these parts, new and accident damaged are part of this price. They are all going with the car. I will put up many pictures explaining and showing in detail everything hat I have wrote here. This car has an all electric dash, which has two parts. One being behind the steering column with the RPM, speed, gas, engine temp, and oil pressure levels. The other dash resides in the center console above the HVAC and radio. There the mileage, trip computer and basic system check display lay. I say this because when I bought this car, the second layout that I described worked, but just barely. Now sometimes it does not illuminate at all. Without it you can see the mileage that is on the car. When I bought the car this display read roughly 147,700 miles. I know for a fact that in the year I have had this car I have not been over 7,000 miles.

Over all this is still a good, all around, American Classic Muscle Car. Anyone this is a GM fan like myself will instantly recognize that. Yes the body needs a little work, but it's heart beats fine. It cranks and goes down the road, makes an awesome sound. Given the body damage and my need to get rid of it, the price is negotiable as I stated earlier. Give me a call at 919-288-0934 (James) and/or stop by and drive it around the block. After that we can make a deal.

2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern

Mon, 07 Nov 2011

General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.

Rumormill: DeLorean Motor Company considering rescuing Pontiac Solstice?

DeLorean Motor Company Pontiac Solstice renderings - Click above for high-res image gallery
General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.
