Up For sale is my personal car I've owned since 1996. I purchased it from a car lot in Studio City CA, that got it from the original owners wife after he passed away. I was so excited at the time I purchased it that I didn't pay much attention to the paint job. I noticed  later that the car  had a cheap paint job to hide a dented fender and hood that was filled with bondo. The car was not or is not  salvaged title but clean. This started the restoration on my part. I worked at a dealership at the time as a line mechanic. I got cost on parts plus 10%. I replaced the fenders, hood, front and rear facia with original GM parts. I also replaced the fog lights, headlight bezels, center console, door handles, GTA badging with all new factory parts. I did all this to give it the showroom appearence. I also replaced the door moldings in the factory color. I also replaced all of the t-top weather stripping and the door weather stripping. I've made factory upgrades to the car by putting on the factory Trans Am fenders. I felt that GM cheated people out of this by putting on a firebird fender and slapping GTA badges on it instead. You can run the VIN number at your local dealership to verify that it is a real GTA and not a clone. I've had an inop on the car since 1999 while I was doing all of the work. I smogged the car in 2004 to get the personalized license plates and then put the inop back on it. The car has new front struts & alignment. New rear shocks and height springs(HD). The Brakes, Radiator, alternator, tires, shocks have less than 500 miles on them but were installed more than ten years ago. The car still drives and rides excellent. While it was stored I have started it once or twice a month. I just recently replaced the battery and it has a 3 year warranty/ free replacement. There is nothing butchered or mickey moused on this car. I have installed a newer CD Player out of a newer Trans Am with a Kenwood Amplifier and Speakers. I used two adapter harnesses so none of the factory wiring harness was cut or spliced into, although I did cut off the connectors at the speakers. I tossed the original speakers because I thought they were awful sounding.  I still have the factory cassette radio that came with the car. Right after I bought the car the cassette player didn't work properly so I sent it in to Delco through the dealership and they put in a new motor and cassette mechanism. The factory radio can be re-installed and everything will work as desighned. With the stereo in it now the steering wheel controls do not work.  The also installed front rims to the rear so I wouldn't have to break the tires off the rims to rotate the tires. This car was going to be my daily driver. Just keep in mind that this car is 20+ years old and is being sold as is where is with no warranties. Also I noticed that there is cracking around the tires from sitting. The things wrong with the car that I never got around to fixing are the headlight motors stopped going up. You can open them manually and when you shut off the headlights they go down. I replaced the rear wing with an aftermarket fiberglass wing. This took 12lbs off the hatch and it pops right open. The original kept getting small cracks in it after it was repainted. The third brake light will need to be reinstalled. I have all the original parts to do this. The passenger door lock actuator is weak and should be replaced. I'm trying to described everything to the best of my memory and knowledge of the car. Please ask any and all questions before making any offer or purchase. I have more pictures of the car and can take more of whatever you would like to see. When I sell something I want the buyer to know exactly what he/she is getting. There's nothing worse that having it show up at your front door not being what you expected a thousand miles later and $$$$ out of your pocket for shipping costs. Therefore I recommend that you or you have someone you trust inspect it in person. I can help you in anyway you like. I'm sure I'm forgetting something so Please call or text me at 310-357-7321 By Placing an offer or buying the car you are agreeing to my conditions. I'm not saying this to be a jerk I don't want to waste my time or yours. Thank you in advance

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.
