Thank you for viewing this auction for our beautiful and rare 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with shaker hood!

What makes it so rare? 1979 is the last of the 400 block (220HP 6.6L V8, most powerful of the 3 options available this year) in addition it's a 4 speed manual transmission making it 1 of less than 2500 cars produced that year with these same specifications. In addition, whats makes the car even more special is the factory option WS6, giving it four wheel disc brakes and improved suspension. A/c was also option in those days and this car has it too!

This Trans Am is considered a survivor. It has never undergone a full restoration, but has been meticulously maintained. There has been a few updates done to the car such as the upholstery (Hurst custom  buckets, but in the original bucket seat),exterior paint, flow master exhaust and radio. Everything else on the car is original.

This Trans Am is a head turner and daily cruiser, perfect for weekend rides or car show appearances. However, for those looking to for the ground up restoration project, it is also the perfect car. The undercarriage is as clean as the top...absolutely  NO rust on the car anywhere.

The exterior is in great shape, it has no major dents, dings or scratches. It does have average wear and tear as found on any vehicle of this age. As per the code the original color for this car is black.  The interior is also in great condition, no major cuts, rips or stains. As mentioned above the upholstery has been updated with the original color.

The following is in working order: A/C, radio, lights, gauges.

Considering the vehicle specifications and condition the car is priced to sell! It will be hard to find another like it. Get your hands on a Trans Am now as the prices of these cars are raising! International bidders are welcome too!

GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes

Mon, 01 Oct 2012

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.
