Up for auction is a 1980 Firebird Trans Am Ttop car. The body of the car is overall very decent. Its not a perfect show car, this is a nice driver. If your looking for a show car it would need repainted. The paint on the car is nice and glossy yet but not perfect, and there is like 3 small dents on the hood. The car is rust free, there is NO holes or soft spots anywhere that I can see. The body, floor, frame rails are all very solid. The engine is a very strong running pontiac 400 V8 and turbo 400 automatic transmission. The engine runs great with loads of power, the transmission shifts great and as it should. The motor also has a 700 cfm Edelbrock carb. Ive also replaced recently the points, cap, rotor, plugs, and coil. The engine still needs plug wires and exhaust manifold gaskets and doughnuts. The exhaust is very loud and aggressive sounding. Sounds similar to Flowmaster mufflers but I believe the name of these mufflers is V-Tech. The interior needs work, Ive bought a brand new molded carpet and arm rests for the doors. The interior is mostly complete but the panels need dyed or painted or covered or replaced or whatever. The front seats are out of a newer Trans Am so in my opinion they look a little more sporty and they recline. The seats are in good shape front and back. I was going to have them stitched to match and cover the panels with some kind of material and go for a interior you may see in a pro touring car. I think it would be very simple to do with whats given and wouldnt cost much if you are willing and able to do the work yourself. The tires on the car are Goodyear Assurance 215/70R15 they have less then 700 miles on them. The driveshaft was recently rebuilt at a local machine shop everything is new the slip yoke, tube, and u-joints. It still needs the Ttop seals, the old ones have been removed. The windshield has a crack but not in the line of vision I still drive it that way. Well to sum it up I bought this car with the intention of eventually making it a show car but I never got that far. Its still very sharp and runs and drives and is alot of fun in the summer. Thats why at this time im trying to sell it as it sits you can enjoy it now and make it perfect as time goes or just go all out now. Theres no need for welding or straightening or looking for body panels. I think thats about it I believe I described the car very well but if theres anything to add I will do so or if there is any more questions or offers or someone that wants to come see in person feel free to give me a call or text at 319-551-7082.

This is a cash only sale I think I have more in this car then ill see back out of it so im prepared to take a loss but im not going to give my car away either. Im only selling because I could use the extra money, space and I just have too much going on and would like to see the car go somewhere to someone that wants to complete it and enjoy it for the next years to come. Please serious bidders/buyers only. Im looking to make a deal as quickly as possible im a motivated and serious seller with a clear title in hand ready to go.

Again this is a cash only sale the only trades I might be interested in is partial and the rest is still in cash. There is a reserve on the car but its not very high at all. I reserve the right to end the auction as soon as the car sells. I think thats about it, thanks for reading and good luck bidding!

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable

Fri, 21 Sep 2012

General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
