A very rare
opportunity! A true barn find!!! A 1961
Porsche 356B T-5 “Notchback”. At #16 it was early off the production line. Only
a handful were made, approximately 600 made in 1961 and about 1100 made in
1962. Aetna Blue
with a black interior, the car is on a rotisserie stand. Comes with the COA. The car
comes with all parts you can see in the pictures but to the best of my
knowledge is missing the following: speedometer gauge, ignition switch,
grill for the engine compartment lid, gear shifter (the car originally came
with a locking gear shifter) and maybe other small parts as well. The original
engine is missing, but an engine does come with the car (engine # P01059). The gearbox
is original. The glass is good all the way around. The car was
in a barn for over 25 years. Some welding bodywork has been done to the car. Many more
detailed pictures available upon request. A very
desirable car, needing a total restoration to bring it back to its original
glory. Any questions welcome.we keep the right to end the auction early. Please visit us at http://mbvintagecars.com/default.php or call Frank at 2166452100. (We can help to make arrangements for worldwide shipping.) Please note: Residents of states ARIZONA, CALIFORNIA,
FLORIDA, INDIANA, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN and SOUTH CAROLINA must pay their
sales tax to us upon purchase and we will send you an Ohio state title in your
name reflecting the payment (exempt if you are a dealer).

Popular Science magazine's Best Of What's New 2012 all ate up with cars
Tue, 20 Nov 2012Popular Science has named the winners in its Best of What's New awards, the victors coming in the categories of aerospace, automotive, engineering, entertainment, gadgets, green, hardware, health, home, recreation, security and software. The automotive category did not go wanting for lauded advancements:
Tesla Model S: the Grand Award winner for being "the standard by which all future electric vehicles will be measured."
BMW 328i: it's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gets called out for being more powerful and frugal than the six-cylinder it replaces.
Jay Leno chats with Magnus Walker about his 1972 Porsche 911 72STR
Tue, 26 Mar 2013Magnus Walker has stopped by the Big Dog Garage again to pay Jay Leno a visit in the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage. This time, the Porsche builder brought along his 1972 911 72STR 002. Walker calls the machine his best build to date, and the car is a rolling "best of" from Porsches past, rocking some of the more attractive elements pulled from a wide arc of 911 model years. Of course, the machine also wears a few signature Walker touches, including flush-mount turning indicators, a center-hood fuel filler and plenty of louver work.
Unlike some of Walker's other creations, the 72STR 002 is clean enough to lick. Leno seems suitably impressed with the creation, and while apparently isn't typically a fan of Porsche models in general, Walker's tastefully modified 911 has him singing a different tune. You can check out the car in the video below.
Porsche's latest Driver's Selection keeps enthusiasts happy at home
Wed, 25 Sep 2013Porsche fans - and there are certainly plenty of them out there, even in here on the Autoblog editorial staff - can be pretty emphatic about their enthusiasm, insisting that the 911 is the very definition of the sportscar. And for some, merely admiring one from afar or even leaving theirs parked outside isn't enough. For just such enthusiats, Porsche Design has expanded its Driver's Selection with some tantalizing additions for the home and office.
First up is a desk chair made from the bucket seat in a 911 Carrera, which we have to admit we'd rather be sitting in right now over this blasted, rather unexciting ergonomic office chair. It's covered in black leather (the same you'd find inside an actual 911) embossed with the Porsche emblem and features electronic backrest adjustment.
There's also a wall shelf made from the carbon-fiber rear spoiler a 911 GT3 Cup racecar that can support up to 264 pounds of downforce in the form of books, trinkets and whathaveyou. And there's a limited-edition resin model of the 918 Spyder in 1:8 scale. The items haven't hit the Porsche shop just yet, so we don't have pricing information, but if they tickle your fancy, the online store has plenty more to offer.
