Up for sale is my 1961 Porsche 356 Super coupe, #114272, which runs and drives very strongly, engine is a 1965 SC # 813585, starts perfectly every time, excellent oil pressure while it runs, and the engine runs cool. Does not burn any oil nor does it smoke nor are there any engine issues. In the morning when the car is cold, it starts up after depressing the gas pedal 2 times and then turning the ignition switch. It then roars to life! Transmission is very smooth in all 4 gears and in reverse. Clutch is strong and there is no slippage. All of the synchros of the transmission are perfect. The car accelerates well and "takes the gas" very well with no stumbling or hesitation. This is a 356 that you can jump in and drive home. In fact, if you decide to buy the car I would not hesitate at all in driving the car home. We will pick you up at the airport in Raleigh (RDU) and put on a 30 day NC temporary tag and you can drive it home. All  gauges work, speedometer, odometer, tachometer, individual vdo oil pressure and temperature gauges which work, lights work, horn works, even the radio works! Tires are excellent and brakes stop the car well. Emergency/hand brake holds even on a hill and windshield wipers work. Car retains its original 6 volt system and the charging system works. Windows are smooth and go up and down with ease. Vent windows work as well as does the rear quarter windows.

This car has its original paper work from when it was new. It even has the original bill of sale when it was sold on June  8, 1961 by the VW dealership Leroy Cannon Motors of Greenville, SC for the amount of $4259.25. The purchaser traded in a 1960 Ford Thunderbird for which he was given $3126 and he came up with cash for the difference. Also the original owner's manual, the Blaupunkt radio instructions, the service booklet, the maintenance instructions for Porsche Bodies from Karosserie Reutter all come with the car. They have been maintained with the car by the various owners over the years!

The body is in very good condition with an older presentable paint job which is ivory white. The car was originally silver. The car was painted white in the early 1990's and the paint shows wells but has some wear and scratches and nicks from over time. The car would be just gorgeous painted its original silver color with red interior. The interior shows some wear and age. It is functional but the word used to describe it best is that the interior is "tired". The headliner was recently done a few years ago and it looks nice. The seats and carpet could probably stand some freshening up. Of course, you can drive it the way it is and then do the upholstery down the road, say over the winter months, enjoying the car for the summer and then getting it ready for next season.

The gaps on the car are just fantastic! They are even all the way around and there is no evidence that the car has ever been in an accident. If you are looking for a nice and straight Porsche 356 with just phenomenal gaps in the doors and hood and engine lid, then this is the car. The car is solid, the bottom of the doors are solid. It appears that over the years the longitudinals have had some work done to them and you can see wear someone has brazed some metal in them. Buy overall the car is solid and there are no holes in the floor that need rust repair. In fact, there would be very little rust repair to do on the car. Jack spurs appear solid, longitudinals are solid and the floor is solid. The battery box had some minor repair on it, but it is solid and original.

This car had a major service in 2005 where the engine came out and new seals were installed, fuel pump, distributor rebuilt, brakes rebuilt, new clutch, etc. The total spent for this service was $5564.26.There are other receipts which go along with the car. It just shows that the car has been taken car of and maintained over the years.

Here are over 70 pictures of the car:

Also here are 2 videos of the car being driven at highway speeds here in Raleigh:

You can get a sense of how strong the car is and how it drives. It just takes off like a shot and runs all day long with the highway traffic going 60 mph+ with no problem.

2015 Porsche Cayenne spotted with facelift

Wed, 03 Apr 2013

Although it's only been a few years since the current Porsche Cayenne was introduced, Porsche seems to be working on a midcycle update for its big SUV possibly in time to welcome the smaller Macan. As seen in these recent spy shots, it looks like the Cayenne will be getting a minor face- and butt-lift, but it's hard to say what other changes are in store or when the updated model will hit showrooms.
Up front, expect the Cayenne's new face to resemble what was just revealed on the 2014 Panamera, and we could also see this SUV using some of the new engines introduced on the Panamera including the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 or maybe even the E-Hybrid model. We're guessing that the new Cayenne could debut sometime next year likely for the 2015 model year. In the meantime, check out the gallery of spy shots above.

This is why we love the Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer

Tue, 11 Nov 2014

In the world of restomods, Singer Vehicle Designs is inarguably one of our absolute favorites. The company, founded by rocker Rob Dickinson, has made its name as an obsessive constructor of vintage, built-to-order Porsche 911s with modern internals and beautiful accouterments.
Xcar has put together a lengthy interview with Dickinson, covering the source of his fascination with the 911 and his passion for automotive design, before falling into his rock-and-roll days with his band Catherine Wheel. He also covers how he got into the world of modifying Porsches, rather than just restoring them. There's much, much more in the video, though, and we promise, you won't want to miss it.
Take a look.

Porsche calls in The Committee for Boxster and Cayman GTS

Thu, 20 Mar 2014

Porsche is set to offer up the very first GTS variants of its more affordable Boxster convertibles and Cayman coupes. This is very good news for enthusiasts. Aside from our original post announcing the hotted up models, though, Porsche hasn't given us much to go on.
And you know what? This video isn't much of help either. It's called The Committee, and we're guessing it's meant to highlight the lengths that Porsche went to in designing what are essentially sportier trim levels for its two most affordable entries. Still, it's a stylized and entertaining video with a few entertaining driving scenes scattered throughout, and it gives just a small glimpse of Porsche's view of the vaunted GTS badge.
Take a look below for the full video.
