According to the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity this 1964 356C/1600 C Reutter Cabriolet has a production completion date of 03/02/1964 and came with Sky Blue/6403 exterior paint Color/Code and Red Leather/A interior color/type. The previous owner purchased this car in 1972 and was in dry storage for many years until I bought it in 2007.  The restoration shop  disassembled the car, sand blasted the body and completed the welding and repairs as shown in the photos.  The engine was rebuilt by a respected Porsche shop and the new owner will receive all receipts with details of the work performed ($12,000+). The rebuild included a new piston and cylinder set, push rod tubes, gasket sets, oil lines, heater boxes, pressure plate, release bearing, Webers and many other parts and ceramic coat exhaust. Due to other competing projects I  have reluctantly decided to list the car for sale.  The car was complete when I received delivery  and all parts will be shipped with the body. The dolly can be included with the sale for easier transport.  This will be a great project for the enthusiast who wants to take a very rare car and bring it back to its original condition.  For those of you who have read James Schrager's book "Buying, Driving and Enjoying the Porsche 356", See page 100 &101 regarding  "the one that got away" where he describes how he has never seen another Sky Blue/red "SC" Cabriolet In any condition, at any price! This one is not a SC, but I'm not sure I have seen one like this in all the years I have been dealing with Porsches.  Good luck bidding,  I SHIP WORLDWIDE.

Porsche Macan spied, all lit up and dodging flurries

Thu, 17 Jan 2013

We've seen the upcoming Porsche Macan testing on surface roads and even on the Nürburgring, but here we have our first spy shots showing a disguised prototype doing some winter testing in snowy conditions. Still obscured by plenty of camouflage attempting to mimic its larger Cayenne sibling, we still can't get a clear look at what the Macan's face and rump are going to look like, although it does appear that some details for the front lighting are starting to emerge.
Below the headlights, those are obviously decals trying to look like turn signal lenses, but it appears that there is still some sort of lighting being hidden judging by the small circles cut into the camo. Lower in the fascia, we can also see there are LED running lights not revealed on past prototypes. The entire rear end of this Macan prototype still appears to be tacked-on camo, but the side view appears to be in production form save for the poorly disguised rear quarter windows.
As we've seen in the past, Porsche engineers are still testing the Macan alongside the Audi Q5 with which it shares its platform. There has been no word as to when we could expect to see the Macan in production or concept form, but we'd have to guess that this compact crossover is getting ready to shed its camo very soon.

Porsche 918 Spyder pre-production version in all its almost-done glory

Sun, 18 Aug 2013

Porsche continues the long tease of its upcoming 918 Spyder, with the latest instantiation here at the Pebble Beach Concours, with the car presented in pre-production form to the throngs on the golf course.
Just a few days ago Porsche dropped an image of the car on its official Twitter feed. True to that leak, this 918 looks damn near what we expect the full customer version to be when it is officially debuted in Frankfurt. The neon-green brake calipers are items new to this version of the 918, and seem to be an identical color to those found on the Panamera S E-Hybrid.
When it shows up as a drivable piece, expect the Porsche supercar, with its gasoline-electric drivetrain, to be pretty insane. Horsepower in excess of 800 ponies will be available with a toe-tap, while the price of entry is expected to come within shouting distance of $850,000. A good deal for Porsche to bring the thing to Pebble then, where buyers with that kind of cash are think on the ground (and most likely wearing sherbet-colored trousers).

Chevy Corvette Stingray defeating rivals where it matters most

Wed, 16 Jul 2014

Everything is coming up roses for the award-winning Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, as new data from the North American Dealers Association dissected by GM Authority reveals that America's sports car is handily outselling two of its more expensive rivals.
Through June of 2014, the NADA notes that the Corvette has rung up 17,744 sales, handily besting the Porsche 911 and positively spanking the SRT Viper. Of course, you're sitting there thinking, "Corvette is outselling the much more expensive Porsche and Viper. Sky blue, water wet." But what's impressive here is just how thoroughly the Chevrolet is beating its two rivals, with this data serving as a testament to just how popular the seventh-generation sports car has become.
So far this year, Porsche has managed to move 5,169 911s, according to NADA. Considering that the base model starts at nearly $15,000 more than the most heavily optioned Stingray, and that Porsche owners have a vast, expensive options catalogue to select from, Stuttgart's sales are still plenty impressive in relation to the nearly 18,000 Corvettes sold.
