Porsche 356A coupe finished in the original colors, silver and red.VIN # 58044,engine # P66463 has been re stamped as the original # P706863 so I could title the car in 1996. This is a great daily driver that runs well and looks great. It still has the 6 volt electrical system, strong engine with 1600 super heads and a ansa exaust,741 transmission,16" African mahogany flat wood wheel (handcrafted by myself) mounted to a moto-lita hub, horn works.Blaupunkt radio, not working. All gauges work except odometer, it reads 30412.Wiper motor rebuilt last year. ZF steering box, brake pads are good.Upholstery is very good, drivers seat has 3 torn seams, seat rails restored and move freely.Headliner is perfect except the 2 sides next to rear glass is discolored. Carpet is really worn and faded. Stripped to bare metal in 1997 and painted in arctic silver it does have some bondo in areas most of which is in the nose and rear clip. It has a teardrop rear clip which last year was brought back to the beehives and shine down license light,(Stoddards).Original doors, hood, no kinks, deck lid is not original. There are some rust spots(see photos). Body is very strait and with some minor body work and new paint this 356 would look beautiful! Paint code is 608.All 4 wheels are dated 11/56 spare is 7/62.It had a new floor pan replaced that looks good, battery pan is rough but new metal is included with sale. Many extras included such as clear headlight lenses,4 rebuilt s.s. lined front brake pistons, good spare tire and strap,4 hubcaps, jack,B owners manual, generator wrench, moto meter tire gauge, new horn kit,new door wedges, battery cover, heater rods, and fire extinguisher. Jay Leno chats with Magnus Walker about his 1972 Porsche 911 72STR
Tue, 26 Mar 2013Magnus Walker has stopped by the Big Dog Garage again to pay Jay Leno a visit in the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage. This time, the Porsche builder brought along his 1972 911 72STR 002. Walker calls the machine his best build to date, and the car is a rolling "best of" from Porsches past, rocking some of the more attractive elements pulled from a wide arc of 911 model years. Of course, the machine also wears a few signature Walker touches, including flush-mount turning indicators, a center-hood fuel filler and plenty of louver work.
Unlike some of Walker's other creations, the 72STR 002 is clean enough to lick. Leno seems suitably impressed with the creation, and while apparently isn't typically a fan of Porsche models in general, Walker's tastefully modified 911 has him singing a different tune. You can check out the car in the video below.
Techart modified Porsche 911 Turbo S packs 620 hp, 0-62 in 2.8 seconds
Wed, 05 Mar 2014Considering how many absolutely ridiculous tuner cars are featured in Geneva (stay tuned to see plenty, as our coverage continues), it's often refreshing to see some of the more modestly modified cars, like this new Porsche 911 Turbo S from the folks at Techart. Visually, there's a subtle body kit, new wheels, a new spoiler, and some lame decals on the front end, but it basically ends there. That's because Techart's mission is really about higher performance. Increased dynamism, as the Germans say.
An ordinary 911 Turbo S produces 560 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. But the Techart kit adds 60 hp and 96 lb-ft to those already high numbers, for a coupe that dishes out a total of 620 hp and 612 lb-ft. Techart says that, in Sport Plus mode, its modified 911 Turbo S will accelerate to 62 miles per hour in just 2.8 seconds, and the top speed has been increased to 204 miles per hour. Crazy stuff.
To further drive its performance upgrades home, Techart has fitted this 911 Turbo S with a sport exhaust system with valve control, for a more robust exit interview, at the push of a button. We imagine it sounds awesome. Have a look at the Techart Turbo S in the gallery, above.
2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S
Fri, 19 Jul 2013I don't care who you are; when a new Porsche 911 rolls up in your driveway, that's a pretty good day. This was my very first experience with Porsche's 991 911, and after having spent time with just about every tune and trim of the last car, I was hotly anticipating comparing and contrasting.
Somehow (I don't remember sending out any cash-filled, unmarked envelopes) I'd scored a week in the 911 Carrera 4S over a long holiday weekend, too. That meant that I'd get to A) log a ton of miles in one of the best cars in the world, B) get to show-off the Porsche to family and friends and C) tempt cops in three states to pull me over. Good thing I've got the Autoblog traffic lawyer on speed dial...
