This car was built from a late 80's CMC kit in 1999. The VW chassis is a 1969 which was upgraded with disc brakes all around! The motor was built by Car Custom, is 2,275cc's, and has dual Dellorto carbs! Here's a rundown of the car:
Pictures show bumpers removed, I like the look better. Bumpers do come with the car and are simple to reinstall if desired. Have the following extra gear that was purchased but never installed on the car:
I have a number of book resources that have helped me over the years and will go with the car; the Dellorto carb tech book, original CMC assembly manual, VW Beetle Autobook, the famous John Muir 'How to Keep your VW Alive' book. Car body isn't perfect, it is gelcoat, not paint, so could easily be rubbed and polished to a sparkly finish. Tonneau cover is in new condition, top and seat covers show some wear. All the doors, hood, & trunk seat properly and latch well. Car is being sold as is, where is. It is running but may need a new battery. Can be picked up or I can arrange transportation for additional cost. |

Porsche calls in The Committee for Boxster and Cayman GTS
Thu, 20 Mar 2014Porsche is set to offer up the very first GTS variants of its more affordable Boxster convertibles and Cayman coupes. This is very good news for enthusiasts. Aside from our original post announcing the hotted up models, though, Porsche hasn't given us much to go on.
And you know what? This video isn't much of help either. It's called The Committee, and we're guessing it's meant to highlight the lengths that Porsche went to in designing what are essentially sportier trim levels for its two most affordable entries. Still, it's a stylized and entertaining video with a few entertaining driving scenes scattered throughout, and it gives just a small glimpse of Porsche's view of the vaunted GTS badge.
Take a look below for the full video.
Paul Walker's accident due to 'speed, and speed alone'
Thu, 19 Dec 2013Following an investigation into the crash that killed Fast and Furious star Paul Walker and driver Roger Rodas, an unnamed law enforcement source told the Associated Press that there were no signs of mechanical failure on the Porsche Carrera GT that was destroyed in the accident.
The report from The Huffington Post claims the officer in question blamed "speed, and speed alone" in the fatal accident. The same report ruled out the presence of debris in the road, which may have caused Rodas to lose control of the V10-powered super car.
Engineers from Porsche are traveling to California to investigate the accident with the help of the Carrera GT's on-board data recorder. Until then, investigators won't speculate on the car's speed at the time of the wreck.
