Up for sale is a beautiful, very well kept and maintained 74 Mexico blue targa. This car has had the same owner for the last 28 years and used as a summertime toy all of that time. The car has been maintained and repaired when needed including a transmission rebuild, all new brake calipers, rotors and pads, carrera chain tensioner update, clutch, flywheel, and lots more. Invoices totaling over $10,000 in the last 5,000 miles.

The car was repainted once approximately 12 years ago and has some nicks, scratches and a few small surface rust spots, overall a good driver quality job, I would rate it a 7 out of 10, it certainly doesn't need to be repainted but you may want to touch up a few areas if you want it really nice. The interior is near perfect and I would rate it a 9 out of 10. There is no rust under the car at the suspension points or on the floor or rocker panels, there is a little surface rust around the battery tray but nothing substantial.

HERE'S THE BAD NEWS!
Unfortunately the common problem of broken head studs has surfaced and the engine will need to be rebuilt or replaced. The car runs and drives but has a noticeable compression leak under load.
My first thought was to replace the engine with a newer 3.0 or 3.2 engine and then sell the car finished but because these cars can be more valuable as original and matching #'s I thought I would leave that decision up to the new owner.
Please contact me if you have more questions about the engine as I am very familiar with these cars.

Please look at the pictures as I have tried to show all of the flaws as well as all of the good. Overall this is a very nice car that is worthy of repair, and one that you can get into cheap and fix at your leisure.

Thanks for looking, contact me to answer questions, and I will be happy to assist with shipping after arrangements have been made.

Porsche 356 Outlaw is the other Continental

Wed, 25 Jun 2014

In Porsche parlance, 'outlaw' basically means 'hot rod,' and that definition can vary from person to person. For Jack Griffin and his 1955 Porsche 356 Continental, it means taking a great car to start with and reworking it to become a classic coupe that fits its driver perfectly. The latest video from Petrolicious highlights Griffin's 356 and all of the personalization he has in the beautiful ride.
Griffin acquired this 356 in 1994, but it came in rough shape. That made it the perfect canvas to transform the coupe into the Porsche of his dreams. On the outside, only things like the hood-mounted fuel filler, louvered decklid and Fuchs wheels give it away as something special, but underneath, it is modernized to be a faster, more robust car. Griffin considers it "a piece of art on wheels."
Hearing the Continental name associated with Griffin's Porsche might be throwing you, since it's normally more associated with Lincoln, but Griffin tells the whole story of what makes it so special on his '55 in the video. Scroll down to get an automotive history lesson and check out this fantastic 356 hot rod.

Porsche rules out Macan, 911 hybrids

Fri, 24 Oct 2014

Believe it or not, between the 918 Spyder, the Cayenne and the Panamera, Porsche offers more plug-in hybrid models than any other brand. Yes, Porsche. But don't expect that trend to continue. At least, not in the immediate future.
According to Top Gear, the E-Hybrid powertrain in the Cayenne and Panamera is too big to fit into the smaller Macan. A future hybrid system could be small enough to fit, but with the current technology still fresh, that'd still be some ways down the twisting road.
It stands to reason, then, that if the system wouldn't fit in the Macan, it wouldn't fit in the Boxster or Cayman, either. But what of the 911? Surely Porsche would like to stick it to BMW and its new i8, and proved it could do a hybrid 911 when it rolled the GT3 R Hybrid (pictured) out onto the race track over four years ago. But Zuffenhausen is reportedly in no rush to put that idea into production - not for the current 911 and not for the next one, either.

Porsche looks back on very first 911 Turbo

Wed, 11 Jun 2014

Porsche has really hit on a winning formula with its series of videos going inside its vault. So far, we've seen the V8 911 prototype, mid-engine test mule and aerodynamic prototype. The company is sticking with the 911 theme in the latest entry, but this time it's an actual production car - the very first 911 Turbo ever made.
Being the first Turbo would make it important enough, but the car was also a birthday present for Louise Piëch, daughter of Ferdinand Porsche and sister to Ferry Porsche, and she regularly used the car. The family didn't just hand her a random car off the assembly line, either. She got to make it her own with some interesting modifications. She supposedly even painted landscapes from inside the car.
You have to wonder what Piëch thought of her present. The early Turbos had a reputation for being a bit of a handful to drive. The boost tended to bring the power all at once, which wasn't always welcome when cornering. She deserves some honor just for driving the car on the curvy, alpine roads. Scroll down to learn about this important Porsche, and we can't wait to see what car the brand showcases next.
