Very nice, stock, low mileage,  911SC sunroof couple with original Fuchs and clean interior.  Original glass, no common dash cracks, all working power windows, antenna, fog lights, etc.  New Toyo Proxes front tires (BIN receives with matching rear tires).   Updated Alpine CD with blue display that fits professionally and looks nice with dash and seats.  Car was partially repainted by professional shop from small fender  bender that somehow resulted in a salvage/rebuilt title.  I have pre-repair photos for interested parties, but the car was not significantly damaged as would be expected given title status. Car retains all original sheet metal, original glass and 70%+ original paint.   I've driven the car ~30K miles over the past 12 months.  It is a rock solid, reliable and fun driving example of a vintage SC.

I replaced the front seats with 2001 996, slate blue buckets that match the exterior but not an ideal match for the black on tan interior.  They greatly improve the comfort of driving the car but the original matching seats (no tears) are included to keep the interior complete as original stock.

I've owned six other Porsche vehicles and this is by far the best overall quality specimen of the vintage. Would keep it for the next forty years, but need the cash for a real estate opportunity.

Only notable blemishes are 1) passenger rocker panel mark, see image, 2) small rust bubble at passenger headlight, see image 3) road rash on mirrors, see image, 4) small paint bubble (not rust) on rear bumper extension texture, 5) small oil drips common to the vintage.

Excellent opportunity for purchase of a vintage 911 at a significant discount.

Meet the man that discovered and restored the oldest existing Porsche

Tue, 11 Mar 2014

Luciano Rupolo is an absolutely fascinating gentleman. He was born in France but spent nearly his entire life in Italy as an auto mechanic running his own shop. His grandfather and father instilled a love of sports cars in him that he carried on by historic racing in Italy for decades. He saw his life-long automotive passion repaid when he found and restored the car that might have been the first Porsche registered for the road.
You can spot in his garage a split-window Corvette, Ferrari 250 GTE and other exotics, but Rupolo's most interesting automotive story concerns his Iso Grifo Competizione (pictured above). The sports coupe was found in the Canary Islands as little more than a shell, but Rupolo got help from a prestigious source for its restoration. The result is a motoring masterpiece.
Rupolo is a fantastic storyteller with a captivating, tale to tell. Settle in, scroll down and watch the bittersweet documentary about his life with one of the first Porsches.

Porsche rolls out new 919 Hybrid at racing gala

Mon, 16 Dec 2013

That Porsche is returning to Le Mans next year with a top-tier LMP1 entry is no news - we've known that for some time. We've even seen pictures of the car in question undergoing testing at various racetracks across Europe, been told who'll be driving it and given some basic parameters of what will make it go. We just haven't known what to call it, but now we do.
In detailing its full endurance racing program for next year at its Night of Champions in Weissach, Porsche has revealed that its new LMP1 racecar will be called the 919 Hybrid. So, something like the 918 Spyder, only one faster. With a four-cylinder engine and a pair of electric motors, the 919 Hybrid will be taking on the top class at Le Mans next year, with a compelling roster of drivers on the docket: along with Mark Webber, Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Neel Jani, Porsche has assigned its works driver Marc Lieb and F1 test driver Brendon Hartley to the effort. But that's not all Porsche has in store.
The factory is also supporting teams that will campaign the 911 RSR in the FIA World Endurance Championship as well as the United SportsCar Championship here in the US, taking Porsche off the pit wall and right in the race seat for next year as part of a comprehensive new racing program, details of which you can read in the press release below.

Porsche 356 Outlaw is the other Continental

Wed, 25 Jun 2014

In Porsche parlance, 'outlaw' basically means 'hot rod,' and that definition can vary from person to person. For Jack Griffin and his 1955 Porsche 356 Continental, it means taking a great car to start with and reworking it to become a classic coupe that fits its driver perfectly. The latest video from Petrolicious highlights Griffin's 356 and all of the personalization he has in the beautiful ride.
Griffin acquired this 356 in 1994, but it came in rough shape. That made it the perfect canvas to transform the coupe into the Porsche of his dreams. On the outside, only things like the hood-mounted fuel filler, louvered decklid and Fuchs wheels give it away as something special, but underneath, it is modernized to be a faster, more robust car. Griffin considers it "a piece of art on wheels."
Hearing the Continental name associated with Griffin's Porsche might be throwing you, since it's normally more associated with Lincoln, but Griffin tells the whole story of what makes it so special on his '55 in the video. Scroll down to get an automotive history lesson and check out this fantastic 356 hot rod.
