THIS IS A HIGHLY DESIRABLE 911 IN THE BLACK/BLACK COLOR COMBO WITH THE TARGA ROOF.  5 SPEED MANUAL.  IT IS IN INCREDIBLE CONDITION.  THIS IS ESSENTIALLY A ONE-OWNER PORSCHE.  I WAS FORTUNATE TO MEET THE MECHANIC THAT WAS SERVICING THIS CAR FOR THE OWNER WHEN HE DECIDED TO SELL.  I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR A FEW YEARS, AND NOW I AM SELLING TO FINANCE ANOTHER PURCHASE.  I AM A PORSCHE ENTHUSIAST, AND I ALSO OWN A 1958 SPEEDSTER IN THE SAME COLOR COMBO.  (SEE PHOTO)

THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW IN ILLINOIS WHERE IT WAS DRIVEN IN SUMMER WEATHER ONLY.  IN 1997 THE ORIGINAL OWNER DROVE IT TO COLORADO WHERE HE HAD A SECOND HOME.  SINCE THAT TIME IT HAS RESIDED IN A GARAGE UNDER A COVER, DRIVEN VERY SPARINGLY.  I HAVE THE COMPLETE DOCUMENTED HISTORY OF THE CAR AND IT IS HAND WRITTEN WITH ALL MAINTENANCE DESCRIBED.  I ALSO HAVE THE ORIGINAL MANUALS, WINDOW STICKER, HOOD SUPPORT MAST ACCESSORY, AND ALL DOCUMENTS RELATED TO THE UPGRADED HARMON KARDON STERO.  THIS IS A TURN KEY DRIVER AND AN AMAZING TIME CAPSULE.  NO DISAPPOINTMENTS ON THIS PRISTINE 911.  IT HAS THE FACTORY FUCHS WHEELS AND LIKE-NEW DUNLOP D-40'S.

THIS 911 HAS BEEN OVER-SERVICED.  THE MECHANIC THAT WAS SERVICING THE CAR FOR THE ORIGINAL OWNER SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS REMOVING THE UNDERCOATING THAT WAS APPLIED TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THIS CAR AS IT IS NOT NEEDED IN THE DRY COLORADO CLIMATE, AND IT SHOWS MUCH BETTER IN ITS ORIGINAL STATE.

MECHANICALLY EVERYTHING IS SPOT-ON.  RUNS AND FEELS AND ACTUALLY SMELLS NEW.  THE ONLY FLAWS ON THIS CAR ARE VERY MINOR, HERE THEY ARE.
1.  VERY SMALL PAINT CHIPS ON THE DRIVER MIRROR ON FRONT BUMPER  (JUST A COUPLE)
2.  EACH SIDE OF THE CAR HAS A TEENY WEENIE DIMPLE (driver door, and just behind passenger door)  I COULD NOT GET THEM TO SHOW UP IN PHOTOS, THAT IS HOW SMALL THEY ARE.
3.  THE TARGA TOP HAS A 3/4 INCH LONG CREASE RIGHT WHERE IT MEETS THE ROOF IN THE BACK. (SEE PHOTO)
4. THE DRIVER'S SEAT HAS A SLIGHT BIT OF WEAR UN THE UPPER PORTION OF THE SEAT BACK FROM GETTING IN AND OUT....NOT TORN BUT JUST WORN ENOUGH THAT THE SHINE OF THE LEATHER IS DIMINISHED THERE.  VERY MINOR.

THAT'S IT...THE REST OF THE CAR IS IN REMARKABLE CONDITION.  IT RUNS LIKE THE WIND AND IS A JOY TO DRIVE.  MUCH MORE FUN TO DRIVE THAN MY LAST 996.  PURE PORSCHE.

I WILL ASSIST ANY BUYER IN GETTING HERE, AS WE ARE LOCATED 35 MILES WEST OF TELLURIDE COLORADO AND 60 MILES FROM MONTROSE COLORADO.  FLY IN HERE AND I WILL BE HAPPY TO PICK YOU UP.  YOU CAN DRIVE THIS CAR TO ANY POINT IN THE US WITH GREAT CONFIDENCE.

COMES WITH A HIGH DOLLAR SOFT CAR COVER...ALL EXTRA KEYS AND SUCH.  EMAIL ME ANY QUESTIONS AND I WILL RESPOND IN THE EVENING AS I WORK DURING THE DAYTIME HOURS.

Popular Science magazine's Best Of What's New 2012 all ate up with cars

Tue, 20 Nov 2012

Popular Science has named the winners in its Best of What's New awards, the victors coming in the categories of aerospace, automotive, engineering, entertainment, gadgets, green, hardware, health, home, recreation, security and software. The automotive category did not go wanting for lauded advancements:
Tesla Model S: the Grand Award winner for being "the standard by which all future electric vehicles will be measured."
BMW 328i: it's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gets called out for being more powerful and frugal than the six-cylinder it replaces.

DP Motorsport tries to turn a vintage Porsche 911 into a sleeper

Tue, 20 Aug 2013

Once you get past the fact that it's hard to call a car a sleeper when it has race-product stickers on its quarter panel, and the script across the back panel reads "Porsche 911 3.2 Sleeper," it's fun to imagine what this car can do. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911, Germany's DP Motorsport took a model from 1986, stripped it of everything - including the paint and undercoating - then replaced everything with lightweight and race-ready parts.
In went race cams and ported cylinder heads, a lightweight flywheel, an RSR titanium racing exhaust, 935-style lollipop seats and RSR carpeting, a lightweight battery, perforated and galvanized hinges and brackets, hardened perspex windows. The 3.2-liter engine puts out 270 horsepower - 70 hp above the stock 911 on sale here in 1986 - and 226 pound-feet of torque through a limited slip differential to staggered wheels. The exterior color is metallic rock-green lacquer.
If you want one, $120,00 is where the part starts, but DP Motorsport says it offers the parts individually if you don't need your vintage Porsche to sleep this hard. On a side note, for a chucklesome journey back in time, check out this review of the 1986 911 that gets things going with this line: "First off, the Porsche 911 is very expensive - how does about 40 thou grab you?" Back on topic, there's a press release below that tells the rest of the story of the 3.2 Sleeper.

Le Mans-winning Porsche 935 K3 'seized' by DEA agents

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

Porsche has won Le Mans more than any other marque, but only one of those overall race winners was actually based on a 911. That was the 1979 Porsche 935 K3, chassis number 009 00015 that was entered by brothers Don and Bill Whittington. It went on to win at the Nürburgring and Watkins Glen, and scored podium finishes at Sebring and Brands Hatch as well. In short, it's a historically significant and hugely valuable piece of motorsport history. And it was just seized by the DEA. Sorta.
After the Whittington brothers ran afoul of a handful of lawsuits and were implicated in smuggling narcotics, the car changed hands a few times before ending up in the noted collection of one Bruce Meyers. He had it at Laguna Seca earlier this month when a black Suburban, Dodge Charger and transporter truck pulled up with government plates, asked to speak with Meyer, presented him with a court order, loaded the car onto the truck and drove off.
Though familiar with the legal disputes surrounding the ownership of the car and the misdeeds of its famous original owners, Meyer was left understandably distraught over the events that had just unfolded in front of him to separate him from his pride and joy. (Or one of them, anyway; Bruce has got an eminently desirable collection of classic cars.) But here's the kicker: those DEA agents weren't actual DEA agents. Fortunately they weren't thieves, either. The actual story could have been the plot right out of Ocean's 14 if they ever made one and it focused on classic cars. (Is anyone in Hollywood listening?)
