Here is an original targa, with excellent patina appropriate to its age.   The mileage is just shy of 78,000 and it has not been modified in any way.  I replaced the dash a few days ago and have the original dash.  The original blaupunkt stereo is there.   I believe the paint is original, at least a detail shop told me so. The photo of the front  driver's side fender with the wheel shows a series of scratches which were present prior to my purchase of the car and were poorly touched up but the detail shop buffed it to the current appearance.  The cam oil lines were recently changed so she has a very dry bottom.  Tires have very little wear on them and the wheels are original Fuchs but the PO polished the black off the spokes for a more vintage look.  I have a whale tail of matching color available.   I personally rebuilt the targa top with advice from a local convertible shop where the seams on the vinly were restitched and it no longer leaks, even in a heavy Seattle rainshower.  The rubber around top frame was also recovered in the porsche style mesh material which was worn over the life of the car.  I have little in way of records on this car but it appears to be a Florida car which was then sold to the PO in British Columbia and then to me in Seattle.  The COA will be ordered from porsche and should substantiate that it is a numbers matching car.   It has run really well with the few miles I have put on it.  I am selling because my interests have become even more vintage than this car.  Must be a sign of age, or perhaps taste.  I have represented this car with the knowledge  I have of it.  Please ask your questions and do the appropriate research to satisfy what you need to know about this car.  Of course, if there are specific photos you would like, please let me know.  Best Regards.

Mercedes-AMG GT vs. Porsche 911 [w/poll]

Thu, 11 Sep 2014

Mercedes-Benz designed the AMG GT to compete head-on with the Porsche 911. It's a clear, singular purpose, and Benz brings a lot of money, technology and race-bred expertise to the fight.
The AMG GT is Merc's followup to the awesome SLS AMG, the retro-modern, gullwing-doored coupe that took us by storm half a decade ago. But this new GT coupe is a more focused sports car than the SLS, rather than an all out supercar capable of extreme performance. It's got a brand-new V8 engine, and state-of-the-art technology that help it to not only be a proper Mercedes, but to be a serious performer.
Mercedes will sell its new baby in two models. The GT S arrives first, in spring 2015, followed by the standard GT in mid-2016. Of course, there's room to grow from there. And while Porsche may have already expanded its 911 range to include a vast variety of models, here's how Stuttgart's icon stacks up against Affalterbach's bad boy.

Porsche patent sketches show removable headrest wind deflector

Mon, 21 Oct 2013

While driving around in a convertible might seem glamorous, ask anyone with long hair and they'll likely tell you how it really is: the wind buffets, your hair goes everywhere and it's anything but glamorous. That's why you see so many convertibles driving with their tops up, their windows up or wind deflectors in place. But Porsche is apparently preparing to kick it up to the next level.
These patent drawings have leaked out, demonstrating what appears to be some new kind of wind-deflecting device being developed by Porsche. The mechanism is apparently fitted to the headrest itself and designed to keep the wind buffeting specifically around the head down to a minimum while allowing the car's occupants to enjoy the top-down driving experience.
No word on when it might hit the market, but we won't be surprised to see this kind of device appear on a future version of the Boxster or 911 Cabriolet. But nowhere else: despite the apparent leak, the patent drawings suggest that Porsche will be keeping this technology proprietary. Whether sister brands like Volkswagen, Bentley or Lamborghini will get their hands on it remains to be seen.

Porsche-Piech buy 10% stake in VW's holding company

Tue, 18 Jun 2013

In August, 2009, as the scuttled merger of Porsche and Volkswagen had gone bad and Porsche was backed up against the ropes, Porsche Automobil Holding SE (PAHSE) relinquished a ten-percent stake in itself to Qatar Holdings as well as options it held on 17 percent of VW shares. The sale meant that, for the first time since the founding of the company 61 years before, an entity outside the Porsche and Piech families had a say in the running of PAHSE.
Buying that ten-percent stake back returns full ownership to the two families, the holding company's sole possession being ownership of 50.7 percent of VW's common shares. The price paid wasn't disclosed, but at market rates the purchase would be worth close to $1.25 billion. Qatar intends to hold onto the 17-percent stake it has in Volkswagen.
