This Porsche Speedster Turbo is likely the only configuration of its type in America.  It has the svelte Speedster body combined with something the Speedster never had - power.  This 2900lb missile is insane fast once the boost hits.  First gear is so intense, I had to install street drag radials to put the power down.  The car looks spectacular with a $5000 midnight blue (with a hint of purple) paint job, whaletail wing and gorgeous rims.

The dash is perfect (looks new) with no cracks whatsoever.  The seats are ubercomfortable.  There is a 10-speaker custom stereo system nicley integrated into the interior - looks factory.

The engine features the best of everything including a fully-balance rotating assembly (by Total Engine Concepts in West Palm Beach), Kokeln ball bearing turbo, Evo cam, huge intercooler, chrome-plated intake tract to reflect heat (unlike the black version that absorbs engine heat into the intake tract), Tial 1.0Bar wastegate, Borla exhaust, and perhaps the best part an ultralight  aluminum flywheel/clutch that makes the car rev like a superbike.  This machine is an absolute missile.

I now own a Mosler, and am out of garage space, so my Speedster has to find a new home

On the negative side, the rear window is fairly clouded, there are a few rock chips in the paint from high-speed (always below the posted speed limit) adventures, and the base of the driver's seat is cracked,

The car isn't concours, but it's a gorgeous, wild, and truly unique ride that will surely bring a smile to your face every time you crank over those huge Evo cams.

Petrolicious explores long-term living with Porsche's 914/6

Thu, 15 May 2014

After its last video starred none other than the spectacular Ferrari 250 GTO, where was there for the video team at Petrolicious to go? Certainly, in the realm of classics, there are only a few other vehicles that can match the badge and pedigree of the ultra-rare Ferrari. Maybe a Jaguar D-Type or an Aston Martin DBR1? No, this latest video doesn't star either of those British icons. It stars an oft-misunderstood, occasionally derided entry from Germany's most sporting manufacturer - Porsche.
Yes, we've gone from a Ferrari 250 GTO to a Porsche 914/6. As is often the case with Petrolicious, though, the story told about the car by its owner are often more important than the make or model of car being highlighted. That's exactly the case here, as Jack Griffin talks about the 38 years he's spent with this particular Porsche.
Having been born into the Volkswagen fold and introduced to Porsche in the best way possible - behind the wheel of a 356 - Griffin has some interesting stories (including his attempt at running the 12 Hours of Sebring), and he knows a fair bit about some of the 914's attributes.

Singer 911 gorgeousness explored and experienced by Chris Harris

Thu, 17 Jan 2013

Few things get us as cranked up as a Porsche 911. Generation after generation, this rear-engined oddity has exhilarated our senses, and the new 991 is the most capable iteration yet. Even so, there's a lot to be said for the older models, from their lighter weights and more modest dimensions to their air-cooled thrums.
That elemental vintage Porsche appeal hasn't been lost on Los Angeles-based Singer Vehicle Design, which has endeavored to take the best bits from every generation of 911 and combine them into one impossibly sexy rear-engined machine. Based on a 964 donor car, we knew that a lot of work would need to go into everything from the structure to the bodywork to realize the Singer's cohesive aesthetic and dynamic vision, but we didn't know just how much until we watched this Drive video featuring Chris Harris. The auto journo gets time with the 350-horsepower, Cosworth-motivated coupe on both mountain passes and at the track, but what could be the most interesting thing about the 27-minute-long video is his in-depth plant tour.
Check it out by scrolling below, but not before paging through our new Singer 911 gallery.
