Up for sale is my Guards Red 1991 964 (911) Cabriolet that has been meticulously maintained and pampered. This car is in EXCELLENT condition and well above the average 911 that you will see for sale. I am the third owner and the car has spent its entire life in a garage when not driven. This is a very well sorted example of the last of the classic air cooled 911's. All owners have been adults (I'm 51) and shows no signs of ever being smoked in.

The stereo consists of a Kenwood KDC-BT952HD Head Unit (bluetooth, iPod, XM Ready) (installed by me), Kicker 5 channel amp, Boston Acoustic speakers, JL Audio 10" subwoofers behind the seats (other items installed by previous owner). Would I have installed this stereo? No. But I have to say that it is nice to be able to actually hear the music while blasting down the highway with the top down. Everything looks completely factory unless you look in the truck or behind the seats.
Clean CarFax and the car has never been in an accident.
NO OIL LEAKS (be sure to look under any 964 that you buy for this!)

This car is extremely tight and runs, shifts, and drives like it did when it was new. It drives down the road at any speed without any vibration or rattle.

Recent maintenance includes:

Oil & Filter Change (Brad Penn 20W-50 and Porsche Filter)
Transmission Fluid Change (Mobile 1 75W-90)
Brakes, Rotors, Pads, and Wear Sensors on all 4 wheels
Valve Adjustment w/new gaskets

Several seals, gaskets, o-rings, oil lines, and clamps (these are items that every 20+ year old 964 should have replaced)
Exhaust manifold gaskets, studs, and nuts
Rear axle seals (only one had a very tiny weep that most people wouldn't have even replaced)
Engine Mounts (be very sure to ask all 964/993 sellers if these have been recently replaced)

Engine compartment firewall padding (most 964's that you look at, this part will be deteriorated and crumbling

Known issues (all minor)

Very small tear at each mounting point on the top (pictured). It has been this way for a long time and is only cosmetic
Scuffs on the back of each seat where the seat belt buckle catches if you're not careful (was this way when I bought the car)
Scuffs on the underside of the front spoiler that cannot be seen unless you crawl under the car (good luck finding a 911 that doesn't have these)
The original (optional) tach had an OBC (on-board computer) that gave readings for things like outside temp, distance to empty, mph, etc. The tach works fine but the OBC doesn't work but the backlight stays lit. I installed a standard 964 tachometer. The original tach goes with the car and can be fixed for about $650 (just not worth it to me).

I maintain all of my vehicles to the 'nth' degree. I don't cut corners and if something needs replaced, it gets replaced with quality parts. I have been rebuilding and restoring cars and motorcycles for 25+ years and have been a Porsche owner since 1997. I've put about $2300 of parts alone in this Porsche over the past 18 months. Most Porsche owners wouldn't have seen the need because the car ran excellent. Any car that is 20+ years old, even if it only has 10,000 miles on it and has sat in a' air conditioned and heat garage' its entire life, still needs maintenance after that long.

I'm a straight forward person so please don't be afraid to ask questions no matter how trivial. You will get straight answers. You are about to invest a good sum of money into a car and deserve to know what you're buying.

NHTSA closes probe into 2011 Porsche 911 coolant leaks

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that it will end its investigation into rapid coolant loss in 24,635 Porsche 911s built between 2001 and 2011. The models affected included the standard 911, GT2, GT3 and Turbo, as well as their variants (GT2 RS, GT3 RS and Turbo S).
NHTSA was investigating for "rapid coolant loss caused by coolant pipe-fitting failure, allegedly resulting in vehicle disablement and/or loss of vehicle control due to reduced traction for the affected vehicle or following traffic," according to the regulators website. "Most of the leak complaints did not appear to involve complete separation of the fittings and many were detected when the vehicle was parked," said NHTSA's statement.
There were 63 complaints and 336 warranty claims, although the investigation was initiated after ten complaints from customers. There have been no reports of crashes or injuries attributed to rapid coolant loss.

LaFerrari, McLaren P1, Porsche 918 and Agera R take to Assen

It's the show-down (sort of) we've all been waiting for. The battle of the hybrid hypercars from the performance powerhouses of Europe: Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. No one publication has managed to get their hands on all three just yet, but this video has - and with a Koenigsegg Agera R thrown in for good measure.
The video was shot by our (unrelated) Dutch compatriots at Autoblog.nl at the TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands. The track has played host to Champ Cars and all manner of racing bikes, but this could be the ultimate grid of actual production machinery that's ever lined up behind its start/finish line. Shame the weather was rainy and this unsurpassed array of supercars weren't really racing - more showing off for the crowds. But what a show it was. Scope out the footage in the video below.
