1996 Porsche 911 Carrera, Midnight Metallic Blue, 6 speed, 87,700 miles, 3.6L Vario-Ram engine, Sunroof

I’ll start by saying I originally bought this car with the goal of turning it into a lightweight 993RS.  After careful thought and doing the math, it would be a mistake to not keep it stock.  It’s just too nice as is.  This car has 100% original paint, is 100% stock (aside from Alpine head unit) and is of course a 6-speed.  That combination is rare enough.  Even making it more rare is the fact that it doesn’t have the typical grey or all cashmere interior.  It has the more desirable black/cashmere interior with black carpet and door panels.  The two tone interior is sportier and much easier to keep clean.

The 3.6L engine runs strong and the clutch shifts perfectly.  She does not smoke a bit at startup.  A/C works perfectly.  Never smoked in and does not show any sign of the CEL issue.

As you can see in the photos, the original paint shows very well.  Like most 18 year old 993s, the paint is not perfect.  There are the typical minor imperfections you get from driving on the road.  However, this car compares favorably to others 993s with similar mileage.

I’m a PCA member who owns a total of four 911s currently and have owned many more over the years.  I’m selling because I’ve decided not do the project and I currently have two 993s.  I figure this one is easier to sell due to 100% stock.  I’d be glad to answer questions.

Porsche responds to PETA after tiger cub displays at Macan dealership events

Tue, 13 May 2014

Porsche has found itself in the good graces of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, which is pretty odd considering it's the only brand we know of that offers leather-lined vents. The activist group is praising the sports car manufacturer's handling of reports that some of its dealerships were set to feature tigers or tiger cubs at the local launch events for the Macan. Apparently, "macan" is the Malay word for tiger, which explains the connection between a highly touted crossover and a jungle cat.
A Tampa, FL dealership already displayed some three-week-old cubs, with PETA saying tigers for display should be at least eight to 12 weeks old. Even then, the group argues that the animals can suffer due to stress, malnourishment, neglect and a lack of veterinary care. The group brings up legal concerns, as well, arguing that if one of the cubs bit a customer, the dealership could be held liable (we're no big cat experts, but it seems unlikely a three-week-old cub could do that much damage).
Porsche's PR department quickly reacted to PETA's claims, with Vice President of Marketing Andre Oosthuizen, telling the group that Porsche is concerned about the "welfare of any animal, large or small, wild or domesticated." Oosthuizen's statements were reported in an official PETA blog.

Porsche 918 Spyder already almost sold out?

Mon, 20 Oct 2014

Still planning on getting your hands on a Porsche 918 Spyder? You'd better act quickly, because word has it that the hybrid hypercar is nearly sold out.
While Porsche has reportedly only delivered a little over 30 of the 918 examples of the Spyder it plans to manufacture in total, Automotive News says that production is sold out through late March or early April - just a few months shy of when production is set to wrap in July.
That's pretty impressive for a car with a base price of almost $850,000, especially one requiring a $200,000 deposit just to get your name on the list. Still, that sum is significantly less than its competitors get for the McLaren P1 or LaFerrari, both of which sell for over a million (if you can actually get on one at that price), though in fairness, production of each is limited to less than half of the 918 Spyder.

Chevy Corvette Stingray defeating rivals where it matters most

Wed, 16 Jul 2014

Everything is coming up roses for the award-winning Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, as new data from the North American Dealers Association dissected by GM Authority reveals that America's sports car is handily outselling two of its more expensive rivals.
Through June of 2014, the NADA notes that the Corvette has rung up 17,744 sales, handily besting the Porsche 911 and positively spanking the SRT Viper. Of course, you're sitting there thinking, "Corvette is outselling the much more expensive Porsche and Viper. Sky blue, water wet." But what's impressive here is just how thoroughly the Chevrolet is beating its two rivals, with this data serving as a testament to just how popular the seventh-generation sports car has become.
So far this year, Porsche has managed to move 5,169 911s, according to NADA. Considering that the base model starts at nearly $15,000 more than the most heavily optioned Stingray, and that Porsche owners have a vast, expensive options catalogue to select from, Stuttgart's sales are still plenty impressive in relation to the nearly 18,000 Corvettes sold.
