About this GT3
If you're viewing this car, I likely don't need to describe the feeling that you will experience in driving and
owning this vehicle but I will give you a brief overview. It is the most intoxicating, engaging, and emotional
experience you can have behind the wheel of a Porsche. This all radiates from Porsche's racing heritage and years
of engineering expertise built into this vehicle by Porsche. This is the last year for the manual transmission in
a GT3 that we will likely ever see. The incredible reliability of the Metzger engine (which has since been
discontinued on the GT3 models for 2013+) when mated to one of the best feeling transmissions ever utilized in a
road-going car ensures that you always remain 100% engaged, in-control, and in-sync with your vehicle throughout
your entire drive. The steering is the best I have ever felt and has no electronic aids as in the new Porsches
ensuring that you get all the feedback from the road that you need to inspire driver confidence and, ultimately,
your performance and experience behind the wheel. The list goes on and on for this purist driver's car as it can be
considered the last "analog" GT3 we will ever see come out of Porsche.
It has been an absolute dream to own this vehicle. If you have any questions which I have not answered above or
below, would like additional pictures, or simply want to talk Porsche please don't hesitate to shoot me an e-mail.
Vehicle Overview
This garage kept Porsche 997.2 911 GT3 is very likely the best cared for and optioned example on the market and has
been lovingly cared for throughout its life and has been my daily driver and weekend cruiser as long as I have
owned it. The vehicle has never seen the track and has no modifications outside the Porsche options list for this
model. It has every single option that could ever be desired on the 2011 997.2 GT3 for you to utilize however you
choose. The vehicle has never been driven in the rain and has always been protected and cared for as described
within these summaries.
This GT3 has ZERO over-revs in all ranges!
Don't be fooled by the GT3s with lower mileage which may have damaged hosing, valves, fuel systems, and other
components due to not being driven as Porsche recommends (as often as possible) or have not yet graduated out of
their initial-life random failure period. I have all maintenance records showing that all the Porsche recommended
services have been performed on or ahead of schedule as preventative maintenance to ensure the vehicle always
remains at 100%. Above all else, this vehicle just asks to be driven and when you do it will return the favor
through reliability and driver experience.
Vehicle Care
As stated before, the vehicle was never driven in the rain or other adverse conditions. The vehicle was washed
between once a week to once every other week with Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo depending on the number of days driven.
Since owning it, the vehicle has been fully clay-barred to remove paint impurities every 4 to 6 months. Following
the clay bar, Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze is immediately applied to ensure that the paint remains protected
until the next clay bar cleaning as this sealant lasts between 4 and 6 months (longer when not being driven in
weather). A coat of wax on top of the sealant was applied once per month to further protect the paint and bodywork
in the form of Pinnacle's Liquid Souveran Wax. Not only does this method protect the car from almost anything you
can throw at it, it makes it look incredible.
Vehicle Maintenance
I have all the maintenance records since owning this GT3 available for hand-over to the new owner. The following
work was completed in late August 2015 (Porsche's Major service plus other items totaling around $4,500 of
preventative and normal maintenance which you will not have to worry about) and gives you confidence that you are
buying the best and lowest effective entry price 997.2 GT3 available as no maintenance or normal wear items will be
required for quite a long time. All maintenance was performed by Porsche West Houston via Porsche certified
professionals to ensure proper reliability and care.

Performance, Heritage, & Passion
This 2011 911 GT3 uses a highly refined version of Porsche's Metzger 3.8-liter horizontally opposed six-cylinder
engine found only in members of Porsche's GT family ending the following model year (RS/RS 4.0 only). This 2011
997.2 GT3 is the very last model year utilizing the famous and phenomenally reliable Metzger engine.
The engine, based on the famous GT1, is unique with its application of Porsche’s VarioCam Plus variable
valve-lift and timing technology operating on both intake and exhaust camshafts, rather than solely the intake.
This 911 GT3 boasts a variable intake manifold and a special, low-restriction, large-capacity exhaust system that
ensures free engine breathing. The sound that the Metzger 3.8-liter engine makes is simply breath-taking throughout
the entire rev-range including idle. It is infectious inside and outside of the vehicle. The exhaust system’s
unique, dual, centrally mounted outlets beneath the rear bumper are an instant giveaway to the 911 GT3’s
identity.
The result of these refinements is a power-plant that produces 435 horsepower at 7600 rpm and 317 lb-ft of torque
at 6250 rpm. The high-revving engine has a redline of 8500 rpm, 100 rpm greater and with significantly more low end
torque than the previous generation. As befits its ultra high-performance capabilities and persona, this 911 GT3
comes only with a special six-speed manual gearbox with ratios designed to optimize the engine's extended rev
range. This vehicle is the absolute last year Porsche has offered the GT3 with a manual transmission making this
vehicle an instant classic.
A mechanical limited-slip differential completes the drivetrain. Employing components developed for the awesome
Carrera GT, the differential provides asymmetric limited-slip functions of 28 percent under load and 40 percent in
overrun.
The astounding results are this 911 GT3's ability to run from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.0 seconds. The car continues to
100 mph in only 8.2 seconds. All of this performance while still achieving 24 miles per gallon highway (owner
verified). The 2011 GT3 accelerates from 60 to 120 mph faster than the 911 Turbo of the same model year. The new
aerodynamics on the 2011 model year for this 911 GT3 provide over four times the downforce than the previous
generation allowing for even more steering feel, precision, and driver confidence. This aerodynamic upgrade also
allowed for the anti-roll bars to be stiffened to give a greater degree of front end grip increasing driver ability
and confidence right out of the gate.

Porsche (finally) unleashes full, official details on 918 Spyder

Mon, 09 Sep 2013

Porsche has finally let released all of the details on the 918 Spyder, the German brand's challenger to the McLaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari, after months of leading our poor, performance-loving hearts on. The covers were lifted at the Volkswagen Group night, an enormous precursor to the Frankfurt Motor Show, and include a massive, 11,000-word press release that's attached at the bottom of this page.
The 918 Spyder features a mid-mounted, dry-sump-lubricated, 4.6-liter V8 engine that generates 608 horsepower when left to its own devices. Combined with a trio of electric motors, which produce 286 hp, the total system horsepower for the 918 Spyder rests at 887 ponies. That's less than the McLaren P1 (903 hp) and the LaFerrari (949 hp), but the Porsche is also likely to be a bit cheaper, starting at $845,000, while the McLaren will be in the seven-figure range for certain, and it will more than likely be joined by the LaFezza.
The 918 Spyder counters with a 2.8-second jog to 62, a 7.7-second run to 124 and it will hit 186 in 22 seconds.

Porsche Macan caught completely uncovered

Wed, 31 Jul 2013

Porsche is preparing to launch its sub-Cayenne CUV, with a suspected debut at the 2013 Los Angeles International Auto Show, which means we're right about at the point where undisguised models start scampering around the cities and towns of Germany. Our spy photographers snagged just such a model, with only the headlights and taillights concealed by camouflage (no, those comically large lamps aren't a production item).
The undisguised car looks like a tiny Cayenne. Not really surprising, we know, but it's impressive to see how the Cayenne's styling works with the smaller proportions of the Macan. It looks squat, athletic and poised, like it's a small, "sporty" crossover we'd actually want to drive. Both the Macan and the Macan Turbo are shown, with the more powerful model sporting a set of quad exhausts.
The only big questions now concern the shape of the lights and the interior. From the photos, we can see a rough outline of the headlights, although the taillights are more difficult to discern. The interior remains a mystery.

Studiotorino shows new Cayman-based Moncenisio sports car

Mon, 24 Mar 2014

While the recent bankruptcy of Bertone shows that it has become very difficult to be a coachbuilder today, it seems there is still a business case in creating unique bodies for premium vehicles. Case in point, Studiotorino a small, Italian coachbuilder that has been creating limited-edition cars since 2005. Its latest creation is the Moncenisio, which debuted as a prototype at the National Automobile Museum of Turin on March 21. It's named after the 1902 Susa-Moncenisio race in Italy, the first automotive hillclimb in the world.
The Moncenisio begins life as Porsche Cayman S, and each car will be built to order with a planned production run of 19 examples. The chassis, mechanicals and engine are all left untouched. The only thing that Studiotorino alters are the body panels and interior appointments. Prices start at at a heady 145,000 euros ($200,420 US), plus the cost of the donor vehicle.
Architect Daniele Gaglione penned the shape of the Moncenisio, taking inspiration from the 1963 Porsche 904. The sports coupes receive carbon fiber pieces that replace the front bumper, side panels and rear bumper. Studiotorino also covers the rear side windows with welded metal panels. The design is still clearly a Cayman, especially from the front, but the extended roof and support pillars create a new look from behind, which features a new exhaust treatment and rear spoiler. The interior receives leather upholstery on the engine compartment cover, the partition between the engine and seats, ceiling and A-pillars. Scroll down to view a walkaround of the Moncenisio and read the full press release about it.
