EVERYTHING WORKS- heating, cooling, defrosters. ALL electrical A-OK runs and drives beautifully, lots of zip.
A joy to drive, and doesn't need much more to be showroom condition.

As follows is a list of the restoration work done: (using ALL finest quality OEM factory parts)

1]  Compression test, diagnose electrical and steering, repair oil leak at center/rear of engine.

2]  Brakes- Replace front and rear brake pads, flush brake system.

3]  CV joints/axles - Repair both rear axles - disassemble replace cracked boots and repack joints.

4]  Timing Chain upgrade/Chain housing/Valve covers on engine. all sections of the timing cover, reseal,
replace all timing chain components, replace valve covers (turbo cover upgrade), service flame trap.
Replace oil sender gasket in oil tank.

5]  Hood Struts and Body/Electrical - Replace all pressure struts for front and rear compartments.
Replace missing insulation in engine compartment(upgraded for better sound/fire protection)
Replace Battery Service battery box and preserve tray.
Replace windshield washer pump, replace hoses, service system. Replace windshield wiper motor/transmission assy,
free-up and secure.  Adjust all pull cables, latches, stops, and strikers.

11] NEW factory spec'd Chrome Headlight Flanges.  (see pic)

12] California legal window tint (not limo dark, looks very classy and improves looks)

STUFF I WAS GOING TO DO TO COMPLETE RESTORE WORK :

1]  Interior has the original carpets.  It is in ok condition, no MAJOR rips or wear.
not too bad for a 37 YEAR OLD CAR though

2]  the trunk carpet(easy fix), is tattered and not the best fit or the best looking.
the fusebox cover has cracked and doesnt fasten correctly

3]  there is a small crack in the dashboard(see pic) about 1 inch long near the defrost vent. have seen tons worse dahsboards on these 70's porsche's

4]  the exterior paint has been retouched and was not done very professionally, there was some bad sanding and contaminates present when it was resprayed.
there are some cancers near the front window seal too.  and the engine hood has some dimples in the metal, i'm guessing it stemmed from a meathead mechanic
that did an oil change on it and ruff handle slammed the hood shut....very straight body, NO door dings or major dents. exterior rubber and seals are in excellent
shape and indicative of a garaged, well kept car.

5]  the wheels we were going to have polished out(and may still) there are some tiny scuffs, NO CURB SCARS. the stock black paint has faded.  most Porscheys
just polish them out to a shiney alloy, but have to remove a nice clearcoat to do it.  the Z -rated Tires are fresh, about 80% tread left.

6]  The painted mirror edges are some small chips (see pic)

7]  Headliner is in great shape. no rips or sag.  a bit discolored but because it has had a garaged life, its the best ive seen on a 76 coupe

8]  Drivers seat isn't perfect. its not crushed or disfigured, the seat itself is nice, but the backrest has some wear.(see pic)  both seat have sheepskin covers

9]  the armrests have door pockets underneath them and the material has seperated somewhat not too bad

10]  The factory AC venting unit sits just under the dash and isn't the prettiest thing, it isnt fitted to Porsche's standards i think,
you can tell it was an afterthought for the Porsche folks.  Porschey's tend to remove them as they don't ad value, and just arent that pretty.
depends if it going to be in a warm climate or will be a daily driver for you.  I've had offers on here to purchase it.

11]  the rear bumper underside has a scrape on it as well.  not noticeable unless you get down and look underneath it

thats pretty much it.  simple cosmetics really.  the only major things are paint work and a drivers seat(a good auto upholsterer can mend it)

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST,  FEEL FREE TO ASK QUESTIONS AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO ANSWER.
THIS CAR IS WORTH THE $$ AND A SMART INVESTMENT.
One of these in very similar condition sold on Barret's for $39k recently.  It was because it was a rare color, like this one, and it was the European style like this one.

Vehicle History:  records indicate it was originally purchased in Redding, CA. there are no records indicating it
has been anything but a California vehicle.  We are the 3rd owners,  we bought it from a neighbor that gave us
some partial records for the car,  he had it about 11years and it was garaged at his place, we never saw it out.
It was appraised by Cruces Classic Cars Inc. in 1993(have certificate) and valued at $14,700 with an
ODO reading of: 79,677. it was given the highest markings of "excellent" condition in 7 categories: exterior-interior-
engine-mechanical-tires?-chrome-glass.  we have owned it since late 2010, it has always been garaged, and was driven
very little by us. we had the car partially restored, the work took 6 months and all totalled approximately $18k was
invested in the purchase and restoration work.  We had planned to keep it but have too many projects and not enough space
with a recent relocation to store it properly.  HATE to let her go as we know its potential, it's a TRUE classic!

Auto journalist ordered to pay big money for blowing up Porsche 917 engine [UPDATE]

Tue, 22 Jan 2013

Racecars blow engines all the time, but a Porsche 917 isn't just a run-of-the-mill racecar. British automotive writer Mark Hales reportedly borrowed a 917 from 82-year-old former Formula One racer David Piper for a magazine article, and mechanical tragedy ensued. Nobody is arguing that the engine failed after being spun to 8,200 rpm. However, Hales was warned not to exceed 7,000 rpm, says owner Piper, and the affair landed in English courts with Piper seeking £50,000 - over $79,000 US - in reimbursement funds for an engine rebuild and loss of use of the car while it was being repaired. Judge Simon Brown ruled in favor of car owner Piper, putting Hales on the hook for £110,000 ($174,000) including legal fees - a whole lot of money in any language.
Hales says the Porsche suffered a mechanical fault while lapping that allowed it to slip out of gear and over-rev. Piper wasn't convinced, and sought to have the repair paid for by the guy who broke the racer, saying "If you bend it, you mend it." It's not like Hales is a novice driver, having seat time in both professional and amateur races over 30 years, notching about 150 wins, but even the best drivers sometimes miss a shift, and that's what Piper contended happened to his car.
According to reports, Hales has had to sell most of his valuables to pay his lawyers and is now facing bankruptcy with the ruling against him. Members of the Pistonheads website are trying to coordinate a collection to help him out, as well.

Porsche 911 GT2 caught testing, is super bad

Thu, 27 Jun 2013

Look what spy photographers have spotted sprinting around the Nürburgring. Our shooters nabbed a few photos of the all-new Porsche 911 GT2 in its native habitat without any of the bulky camouflage or cladding we're used to seeing. The result is our first truly clear view at the upcoming successor to the GT2 throne. From the looks of it, the new model will boast wider fender arches front and rear, and hefty air intakes set into the machine's hips should help feed a beastly 3.8-liter flat six-cylinder engine. Early guesses put the engine output somewhere around 560 horsepower.
Mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the engine should propel this rear-engined heathen to 62 miles per hour in under three seconds. Top speed? Try somewhere around 200 mph. If that's true, the next-generation 911 GT2 will be the fastest 911 in Porsche history.

2014 Porsche Panamera 4S Executive

Fri, 09 Aug 2013

If the idea of a Porsche sedan (or, long hatchback) is still off-putting to you, then you might want to look away now. For 2014, the polarizing Panamera has received a midcycle refresh bringing slightly different styling, as well as adding two new models to the lineup, the S E-Hybrid and the stretched-wheelbase Executive. Having focused most of my recent trip to Germany on a First Drive of the intriguing plug-in Panamera, I also got to spend some time with the roomier Executive model.
Offered in both 4S and Turbo guise, the Panamera Executive has been stretched by almost six inches for the sole purpose of improving rear passenger space. Although it's hard to imagine anyone would willingly buy a Porsche and opt to sit in the back seat, I'd have to say that if I'm going to be chauffeured around in a car, why not make it a Porsche? For the most part, though, I'm guessing that many Panamera Executive sedans will be owned by people who want to one-up their buddy driving a stretched BMW 7 Series or Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
