Maybe one of the nicest 993's around.  3 owners all dry weather history, Texas and California.  No wrecks, no OBD issues, no stories.  Never been smoked in, and as far as I know, never been in the rain.  Full service history, including window sticker.  All books, tools and documents. Nearly new Michlein Pilot Sport tires.

If you're reading this ad you already know about the 993"s and where they stand in the list of collectible Porsches.  The C4 narrow body is the most rare of the 993's.  These are the last of the air cooled engines, some say the last of the true 911's, but let's leave that for others to decide.  This one is one of the nicest you will find.  It's not perfect, but it is damn close.  There are slight scratches on the undertray, there was a ding on the passenger door that was poorly repaired by a paintless shop.  You can't see it, it doesn't photograph, but it is there and there was a very small ding over the right turn signal on the front, that has been repaired.  Again, you can't see where it was, but I have perfect feedback and want the purchaser to know exactly what they're buying.

Every light and switch and system works and the air blows cold.  There are NO OBD II issues.  It did fail CA smog once, but only because I'd changed batteries and didn't know I had to have the OBD system reset to talk to the CA system.

The stereo was changed long ago.  I replaced the after market unit with a Euro spec Becker Grand Prix. It has both bluetooth and iPod ability and looks like it was designed for the car.  The head unit is complimented with Focal Speakers and a nice amp.  Everything was installed in stock locations, nothing was cut.  And it sounds surpurb.  One minor issue as this is a Euro spec radio, tuning on the AM band is slightly off, but you can generally find the station you're looking for.

Pictures don't do the car justice, it really is sweet.

My wife and I have loved this car and have many great memories driving it to Monterey and to wine country.  But we're retiring and thinning the herd, so someone else gets the chance to take care of it.

I can help with shipping, but you're buying the car here so be prepared to ship or drive it away.

I require $500 in a non-refundable deposit within 48 hours of the successful bid.  If you have negative ratings or no ebay experience write me before you bid.

I've tried to describe this beauty as well as I can, but it is 17 years old and is a used car, no warrenties are expressed or implied.

Porsche Classic launching branded motor oil for air-cooled boxer engines

Tue, 17 Jun 2014

It's hard not to love the look of a classic Porsche. Whether it's the upside-down bathtub styling of the 356 or the gradual evolution of the 911, there is a little beauty in all of them. However, the older they get, the more that needs repaired to keep them on the road. Porsche Classic is helping out, though, by introducing its own brand of motor oil for the demands of the company's vintage, air-cooled engines.
Developed at the Porsche Development Centre in Weissach, Germany, Porsche Classic Motoroil comes in two weights - 20W-50 for the 356, 914 and 911 models up to the 2.7-liter G-Model and 10W-60 for 3.0-liters-and-up engines through the 993-chassis 911. The company claims that the air-cooled engines have different heat demands than traditional, water-cooled units, and this oil is made to meet those requirements.
According to Porsche, modern, synthetic oils are sometimes too effective when it comes to old engines. They are fantastic at sopping up debris, but those deposits are often holding archaic seals together. Suddenly removing them can cause leaks. The new oil is specifically designed to work with the old-fashioned materials found in its classics. The company also knows that most owners aren't driving their vintage cars everyday. So this formulation is more alkaline that normal to neutralize acids that they build up and corrode components.

Porsche 911 Targa Turbo for Geneva debunked, 919 Hybrid and 911 RSR racers coming instead

Fri, 28 Feb 2014

Porsche has proven adept at making sure there is a version of its venerable 911 for practically any wealthy driver's desires. If you just want a great all-rounder then buy a standard 911; open-air driving, then the Cabriolet is for you, and if you need a compromise between them, there is even the new 911 Targa.
Gossip earlier this week surfaced on various websites that at next week's Geneva Motor Show, Porsche had designs on introducing an even higher-performance Targa variant, a Targa Turbo. The rumored mashup would combine the wide body from the 911 Turbo with the super-complicated power roof from the Targa (see right). Assuming no changes in power, that would mean 520 horsepower or even 560 hp in a Targa Turbo S model. Unfortunately, we're hearing that this tasty bit of scuttlebutt is incorrect. Autoblog asked Nick Twork, Porsche North America Product Communications Manager, about the rumor, and his response couldn't have been clearer: "Totally false."
Twork did elaborate that company will be "debuting the Porsche 919 Hybrid, our new LMP1 race car" at the Swiss show, and Stuttgart has also announced this morning that will show its 911 RSR racecar, too - either of which we reckon is a lot more exciting than another Targa variant.

Porsche tells 2014 911 GT3 owners to park their cars pending inspection

Thu, 20 Feb 2014

Porsche may have have a serious problem on its hands. After a rumored five 2014 911 GT3 coupes caught fire in recent weeks, Porsche launched an investigation and stopped delivering its road-ready racecar until it could diagnose the problem. Now, it has issued a press release asking all 2014 911 GT3 owners to immediately stop driving their cars until they can be inspected. Porsche is offering to pick up the cars from owners' homes and take them to the nearest dealer.
Porsche confirms that the at least two 911 GT3 coupes them have caught fire in Europe, and it has elected to inspect all 785 2014 GT3s worldwide. However, it claims no drivers have been injured in the fires. Unfortunately, Porsche says, "Internal studies to determine the cause of the engine damage have not been completed yet," so owners might have a bit of a wait before they are able to drive Porsche's ultimate 911 again. Scroll down to read the entire press release.
