Here  is a rare  opportunity   to  own  a  never   rusted or    never  accident   beautiful   early  911. These  cars  are  hard  to  find  in  any  condition  much  less a California  rust  free  example   with  all  original  panels  rockers   floor  and   trunk  floor!  great  gaps   super   straight.  This  car  was  stripped  to bare  metal  and  the  metal  was    cleaned   and  many  photographs  taken  at that  stage. It was  metal  etched  primed    then   metal  finished     . This  car   has  barely  any  filler  anywhere! It was    urethane  primed     blocked  and   painted  in  the   wonderful original  Irish  green  and  clearcoated. It was    color  sanded   to  a  flat   mirror  finish   that  is   deep and   pure gloss.

It   has    new  seats   headliner  and  dash.  The   wood  is   untouched  and   the    best  looking   dash  ever  put  in a 911 .

The  brakes   were  rebuilt  and  work  excellent.  The   original  dated    1965   trans  shifts    great  no  noises . New   seals   all  around   some  pieces new  rechrome   The     chrome   around  side  windows  is  original but  not  bad.

The   engine  is   a  1970  2.2   with   zeniths. No  leaks!  The    oil  pressure  is a  steady  60   pounds  and  the  compression  is  a   around  150 psi.  It   does  smoke   a  little  and  the  carbs    do   run  smooth  sometimes . It is  could  use a set  of  Webers  and  toss  the  zeniths.  I   have a  line  on a   66  case   and   my  intention    was  to build a   2.7   aluminum  case engine   but   other   priorities  have   got   in the way  of  that.

These early  hand  made 911's   will continue  to     rise    in  value  with out  a doubt. The  65   is  identical  in    almost  every  detail    but  they  were mostly   European  delivery . The  66   was   the  one  you  could  find   at the  dealer  if  you  could  find  one  at all.  I     am  always  more  fond  of the  coupe      the  Targa   has  only  60  percent   torsional  stiffness of the  coupe  . It  took  the  factory   till the  80's   to  come up   with  the  right   combination   of  reinforcements   to      build  the  cabriolet  which   we  all  love.

I can  send    additional  pictures   of  specific  areas   if  needed.

I   reserve  the  right  to  end  the  auction  early   if  a   deal  is  made  before  auction  ends.

   Thankyou  for  looking!

Porsche acquires Kyalami race track at auction

Mon, 28 Jul 2014

With more victories under its belt than any other manufacturer, you could say, in a figurative sense at least, that Porsche owns countless numbers of race tracks around the world. But here we're not talking about figuratively owning a track - we're talking about literally buying one. And Porsche has just bought Kyalami.
Kylamai, for those unfamiliar, is a grand prix circuit near Johannesburg in South Africa. Between 1967 and 1985, and again in '92 and '93, it was home to the South African Grand Prix, and has since hosted a variety of local and lower-level international races, but apparently fell on hard times. As a result, the track's owners - listed as Universal Property Professionals - put it up for auction. Bidders had to deposit four million Rand (about $380k) to participate, but after just 50 seconds, the auction was over.
The winning bid was placed - via telephone from the local press launch for the Macan - by Porsche South Africa CEO Toby Venter, who bid a reported 205 million rand (about $19.5 million) to take over the complex. The German automaker's South African division reportedly intends to keep the track open for racing, but could also be expected to use the facility for testing, customer track days and such moving forward.

2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S

Fri, 19 Jul 2013

I don't care who you are; when a new Porsche 911 rolls up in your driveway, that's a pretty good day. This was my very first experience with Porsche's 991 911, and after having spent time with just about every tune and trim of the last car, I was hotly anticipating comparing and contrasting.
Somehow (I don't remember sending out any cash-filled, unmarked envelopes) I'd scored a week in the 911 Carrera 4S over a long holiday weekend, too. That meant that I'd get to A) log a ton of miles in one of the best cars in the world, B) get to show-off the Porsche to family and friends and C) tempt cops in three states to pull me over. Good thing I've got the Autoblog traffic lawyer on speed dial...

Porsche unlocks secrets of its mid-engine 911

Fri, 23 May 2014

Porsche is beginning to realize that it's sitting on a goldmine of automotive history with its secret vault full of rare cars. Autoblog toured it a few months ago, and we were amazed at all of the curiosities hidden inside. Now, it's starting to let more folks in thanks to a new series of YouTube videos. The first covered the 965 prototype that shoved a water-cooled, Audi V8 into one of its cars. Next up, a mid-engine 911 that acted as the powertrain test mule for the Boxster.
The Porsche 911 is inextricably linked to its rear-engine layout. They go together like peanut butter and jelly. However, at the time Porsche was developing the Boxster, the company didn't want to lay all of its cards out of the table during testing. As opposed to using camouflage, it put a whole different car on top. The prototype looked just like any other 911 Targa of the day, but the biggest giveaway that something was amiss was the heavily tinted rear window. By obscuring it, inquisitive journalists couldn't peak at the new engine that replaced the backseat.
It might not look like anything too important on the outside, but this is a major piece of Porsche Boxster history underneath. Scroll down to watch the video about this fascinating prototype.
