You are bidding on a very nice and well kept, 2 owner 1995 Porsche 993 Carrera C2 sunroof coupe with just 88,4xx miles. This 911 has obviously been garaged and cared for, It’s the last of the classic air cooled 911’s and a very fast fun car – it’s a blast to drive.  I purchased the car when it was 6-8 months old from a Porsche Dealership. I had the car lowered 2.5 inches and a suspension brace fitted across the front towers, and Porsche Aero Kit rocker panels were painted and added along with a Motronics chip and K&N filter at the time of purchase. The car was used only in summers and has been in storage for a couple of years. It runs great, but has an oil leak from the valve covers (a common 993 issue) and needs some TLC to bring it back to tip top condition. Regular oil changes and services throughout the time I have owned it. It needs new floor mats, a good interior clean and detailing – it’s really been incredible and I am sorry to see it go. I will be moving with my job and it can’t go with me, and my two sons are too big to fit in the back of the car anymore! As a 20 year old car, it is in outstanding condition. There is one door ding which I have tried to show in the picture and a couple of parking lot scars here and there.  If you have questions ask – all sales are final as is where is. I reserve the right to finish the auction early as I am advertising it through other channels also.

Buyer is responsible for any and all shipping costs, $2500 non refundable deposit at time of auction close and final payment and shipping within 4 days of auction - NO EXCEPTIONS.

I am an honest e-bayer - you should be also - if you don't have the money don't bid!

Porsche 918 Spyder pre-production version in all its almost-done glory

Sun, 18 Aug 2013

Porsche continues the long tease of its upcoming 918 Spyder, with the latest instantiation here at the Pebble Beach Concours, with the car presented in pre-production form to the throngs on the golf course.
Just a few days ago Porsche dropped an image of the car on its official Twitter feed. True to that leak, this 918 looks damn near what we expect the full customer version to be when it is officially debuted in Frankfurt. The neon-green brake calipers are items new to this version of the 918, and seem to be an identical color to those found on the Panamera S E-Hybrid.
When it shows up as a drivable piece, expect the Porsche supercar, with its gasoline-electric drivetrain, to be pretty insane. Horsepower in excess of 800 ponies will be available with a toe-tap, while the price of entry is expected to come within shouting distance of $850,000. A good deal for Porsche to bring the thing to Pebble then, where buyers with that kind of cash are think on the ground (and most likely wearing sherbet-colored trousers).

Auto journalist ordered to pay big money for blowing up Porsche 917 engine [UPDATE]

Tue, 22 Jan 2013

Racecars blow engines all the time, but a Porsche 917 isn't just a run-of-the-mill racecar. British automotive writer Mark Hales reportedly borrowed a 917 from 82-year-old former Formula One racer David Piper for a magazine article, and mechanical tragedy ensued. Nobody is arguing that the engine failed after being spun to 8,200 rpm. However, Hales was warned not to exceed 7,000 rpm, says owner Piper, and the affair landed in English courts with Piper seeking £50,000 - over $79,000 US - in reimbursement funds for an engine rebuild and loss of use of the car while it was being repaired. Judge Simon Brown ruled in favor of car owner Piper, putting Hales on the hook for £110,000 ($174,000) including legal fees - a whole lot of money in any language.
Hales says the Porsche suffered a mechanical fault while lapping that allowed it to slip out of gear and over-rev. Piper wasn't convinced, and sought to have the repair paid for by the guy who broke the racer, saying "If you bend it, you mend it." It's not like Hales is a novice driver, having seat time in both professional and amateur races over 30 years, notching about 150 wins, but even the best drivers sometimes miss a shift, and that's what Piper contended happened to his car.
According to reports, Hales has had to sell most of his valuables to pay his lawyers and is now facing bankruptcy with the ruling against him. Members of the Pistonheads website are trying to coordinate a collection to help him out, as well.

Porsche recalling 4,400 911, Boxster and Cayman models over hood latches

Mon, 03 Nov 2014

Porsche has issued a "precautionary" and voluntary safety recall affecting some 4,400 sports cars across the globe. Here in the United States, the recall includes 1,382 911, Boxster convertibles and Cayman coupes, all of which are from model years 2014 and 2015.
Porsche will be replacing the lock bracket for the front cargo area (the frunk) after internal testing revealed that, while the vehicles meet "strength requirements," specific parts might not meet the company's quality standards throughout the vehicle's life. There have been no reports of accidents or injuries.
Owners of the affected cars will be notified within 60 days and will need to report to a nearby dealer for a free repair, which should take about 30 minutes.
