THIS IS AN AWESOME LOOKING AND DRIVING 1987 PORSCHE 911 THAT CAME FROM THE FACTORY AS TURBO LOOK CAR (I HAVE PORSCHE "CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY") THESE "TURBO LOOK" CARS OF THIS PERIOD CAME FROM THE FACTORY AS TURBO BODIED CARS WITH A FULL TURBO LOOK, TURBO SUSPENSION, TURBO SPOILERS, SPORT SEATS, WIDER PORSCHE POLISHED FUCH ALLOY TURBO WHEELS, SUPERIOR BRAKING SYSTEM, WIDE WHEEL ARCHES, AND "TEA-TRAY" SPOILER PLUS FRONT SPOILER. THE CAR WAS CONVERTED TO A FULL BLOWN TURBO SPEC CAR WITH THE ADDITION OF A VERY AGGRESSIVE PORSCHE TURBO ENGINE INCLUDING A LARGE GARRET TURBO, LARGE OIL INTERCOOLER, FORMULA I EXHAUST SYSTEM, DISTRIBUTOR-LESS IGNITION, RACE HEADERS, AND ADJUSTABLE BOOST. IT IS A ROCKET AND MORE THAN A BLAST TO DRIVE BEING VERY VERY FAST, AGILE, AND SUPERB SUSPENSION. I HAVE NOT RACED THE CAR BUT HAVE DRIVEN IT IN PORSCHE CLUB PARKING LOT RALLIES. WHAT FUN. THE PAINT IS EXCELLENT EXCEPT THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL WELL ARCH HAS A VERY SMALL PAINT CHIP WHERE A WHEEL WAS REMOVED AND PULLED. THE INTERIOR IS GOOD WITH NO RIPS OR TEARS THE DRIVERS SEAT HAS A SLIGHT RUB WHERE ENTERING AND EXITING WORE DYE ABOUT 3/4" X 1 1/2" THAT ALL IT NEEDS IS A DYE TOUCH UP. THE "STORY" WITH THIS CAR IS THAT IT ACCORDING TO AUTOCHECK AND CARFAX WAS STOLEN AND FOUND IN AN ABANDONED WAREHOUSE SOME 15 YEARS LATER, THE RIGHT DOOR WING WINDOW HAD BEEN BROKEN OUT AND THE GAS SMELLED LIKE VARNISH, THE COMPLETE FUEL SYSTEM WAS SUBSEQUENTLY REBUILT INCLUDING THE FUEL PUMPS, INJECTORS, AND TURBO CHARGER. NEW TIRES WERE INSTALLED AND I HAVE RECENTLY REPLACED THE TOP AND REBUILT THE CONVERTIBLE TOP MOTORS. YOU HAVE TO WORK THE TOP A LITTLE WHEN CYCLING THE GUY THAT REPLACED THE TOP SAID PORSCHE NEEDED TO ALIGN THE TOP FOR EASE OF OPERATION. THE TONNEAU COVER IS LIKE NEW. ON THE TITLE WHEN IT WAS PURCHASED BY PORSCHE HOUSE IN OKLAHOMA AFTER BEING FOUND IT CAME FROM ARIZONA ON A SALVAGE TITLE AS REQUIRED BY ARIZONA LAW, BUT AFTER INSPECTION OKLAHOMA PLACED IT ON A STANDARD TITLE AS DID TEXAS WHEN I BOUGHT IT. THIS IS SUBSTANTIATED BY CARFAX AND AUTOCHECK AS THEY SHOW SALVAGE TITLE IN ARIZONA BUT THEY ALSO SHOW NO MAJOR REPAIRS AND THE MILEAGE DISCREPANCY WAS DUE TO A CLERK MISREADING THE ODOMETER. MY PORSCHE MECHANIC HAS CHECKED THE CAR AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE IT CHECKED AND HE FEELS THAT THE MILEAGE IS CORRECT. MY MECHANIC ALSO FEELS THAT IT IS A VERY AGGRESSIVE TURBO ENGINE AND A "HELL OF A CAR". THE A/C WORKS AND MAY NEED A CAN OF FREON AND HAS BEEN CONVERTED TO NEW SPECS. IT DOES NOT LEAK OIL ALL OVER THE GARAGE FLOOR. IT HAS AN IN DASH BOOST GAGE. I WILL DO A TELEPHONE WALK AROUND WITH ANYONE THAT IS INTERESTED AND YOU MAY TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC IF YOU SO CHOOSE. THIS CAR LOOKS AND DRIVES GREAT, THE SOUND IS AWESOME, IT RUNS REALLY STRONG AND IS VERY VERY FAST.  THIS CAR WOULD BE WORTH $46,000-$54,000 HAD IT NOT BEEN STOLEN AND TURBO ADD-ON BUT IT WAS DONE RIGHT AND IS ESSENTIALLY THAT CAR FOR A WHOLE LOT LESS.

Porsche 911 RSR in bizarre, terrifying rally crash

Sun, 22 Sep 2013

As far as rally crashes go, this one is pretty terrifying. At this month's Hellendoorn Rally, Harry Kleinjan failed to negotiate a turn and drove his Porsche 911 RSR straight into a Jersey barrier, flipping the car into the river.
While it's unclear what caused the accident, German Car Scene notes, "We can see his brakes locking up ahead of the impact, which also ripped both driver's side wheels off, so it may be a case of ill-judged late braking, locking brakes or a jammed throttle." Us? We're betting it might have been bad pace notes. Fortunately for Harry and his co-driver, all indications are that no one was hurt. Check out the videos below to see the spectacular crash for yourself.

Watch Porsche's 918 Spyder break a sweat while hot weather testing

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

With five months left until the 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder enters production, Porsche engineers are still putting the hybrid sports coupe through a battery of last-minute tests. To give us new reasons to ogle over the car - as if we needed any more - Porsche has released a short video showing the 918 Spyder undergoing shakedown tests in the hot Nevada desert. And you can't drive through Nevada without visiting Vegas, too, right?
Although there's really nothing new to see in this video, it's still fun to watch as Porsche approaches one million test miles logged on this exciting new high-performance model. One interesting part (at around the 0:37 mark) shows the car taking off under electric power and then transitioning to engine power, which results in a mix of whirs and growls as the 918 Spyder switches from a 127-horsepower electric vehicle to an 887-hp hybrid supercar. Scroll down to watch - and hear - Porsche's latest creation in motion.

Son of Porsche 911 designer recalls 1963 Frankfurt debut

Wed, 16 Oct 2013

The Goodwood Revival is described by its presenters as the greatest motorsport racing party of the year. We often focus heavily on the motorsports, but you can't forget about the party. For the first preview of the new 911 Turbo in the UK, Porsche recreated its booth from the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963 - the time and place of the original 911's public debut.
Porsche's cameras also caught up with Mark Porsche, the great grandson of Dr. Ferdinand Porsche and son of the late Ferdinand Alexander "Butzi" Porsche, who oversaw the design of the 911. Mark Porsche admires the 911's friendly design, which is set off by the round headlights, and says his mother, who was at the original Frankfurt booth in 1963, was milling around the booth at Goodwood - no doubt taking a trip down memory lane.
