1966 912 Porsche coupe, rally car clone.  4 cyl, 4 spd,  rust free Arizona car since new.  I'm the second owner of this car, I bought it as an original stock 912 from an older gentleman who has had  here in Arizona since new .  I took the car completely apart and had everything redone from the ground up.  I always liked the show from the 60's called Hatari!  Maybe you remember it? I liked Porsche rally cars as well.   I decided to combine the two.  This car has around 5,000 miles on it with a ground up restoration, it's always been garaged. The car has a lot of cool features and cool accessories.  It has factory Porsche 4 1/2 Porsche wheels.  4 speed transmission, I also have a 5 spd transmission that will go with the car when reserve is met. It also has a custom fuel cell, check pictures. It has an original rally roof rack. In front of the car is has a clap-sable and removable tow bar, it also has a wench mount with a plug in. In the rear of the car is has a receiver hitch under the license plate.  Four wheel disc brakes, new Weber carbs. Factory rack on rear truck lid. Four Bosch off road lights, two front yellow vintage fog lights, new H4 headlight assembly with high output bulbs. Custom rear reverse light.  Inside has CB radio, police scanner, and AM/FM cd player.  accessory roll bar,  headliner hat-rack, and vintage flashlight holder.  Hat not included in sale, to many good memories. This car is a driver as well as a conversation piece, to put into your glass enclosed show-room at your Casa. I also enjoy riding in the desert with this Porsche. Living in Arizona it's a must in the desert.  I've taken this car to a lot of shows in the last five years.  The best memory of a show I have is my Porsche being one of the featured cars in the Dunkel brothers car show.  The car was parked on the ground level next to Dunkel's Porsche on a post, maybe you remember.  It's also been to Bonneville Salt Flats where it was a big hit and was featured in an Aussie Magazine. My best memory at Bonneville was I had the Porsche parked on the salt flats and did not have the emergency brake on the wind started blowing so hard the car was headed down the salt flats on it's own.  It was also driven on the Laguna Seca Race Track in the parade lap before the vintage race began, Porsche was the sponsored car that year.  The only reason I'm selling this car is to fund a new warehouse for my car collection.  It's time to let some cars have to go.  I hate to sell it, but it's time for someone else to create their own memories as I have with this one of a kind car.  When this car shows up at a show everyone stops to gather and take photos.. you will also notice as you are driving you will see many photos being taken as your driving down the road.. If you don't want to stand out in the crowd and be recognized then this is not the car for you.  I guarantee you will not see another one going by you. I didn't put this car through the big auctions in January because I want to know who's buying my car on a one-to-one basis and know where it's going. Selling with all the props, except the hat..  IF YOU ARE NOT A SERIOUS BIDDER, PLEASE DON'T BID AND WASTE MY TIME.  CAR SOLD AS IS. BUYER RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING. IF  YOU HAVE AN EBAY FEEDBACK SCORE OF 5 OR LESS DO NOT BID ON THIS CAR, YOU MUST CONTACT ME FIRST, IF YOU DON'T CONTACT ME FIRST I'LL REMOVE YOUR BID.   HAPPY BIDDING!

Noted Porsche collector Magnus Walker learns what a TED Talk is firsthand

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

Porsche collector Magnus Walker has the name and looks of a Viking, but once he starts talking about his life story and what drives him, he's an absolutely fascinating guy. Walker recently gave a Ted Talk at a Tedx conference at UCLA and claimed he didn't really understand the idea behind the speeches. You would never know it, though. Walker is as gifted a speaker as he is a talented restorer of some seriously cool Porsches.
Walker's talk is titled "Go with Your Gut Feeling," and it amounts to his autobiography. He recounts his birth in England, dropping out of school at 15 and moving to the US at 19. Once in Los Angeles, he started selling second-hand clothes and grew it into a fashion business.
Of course, what makes him interesting to us is his passion for Porsches. He fell in love with them when he saw a white 911 as a child at the Earl's Court Motor Show in England, but Walker waited until the '90s to buy his first one. From there he started racing and eventually restoring them. Since the documentary Urban Outlaw about him was released, Magnus has become famous for the love of the brand.

Porsche resurrects V8-powered 911 prototype from the Eighties

Wed, 14 May 2014

These days, we take it for granted that the Porsche 911 uses a flat-six engine. That's because every version of the iconic rear-engined sports car has had one. Right? Well, for the most part. There was the 912 that joined the original in the late Sixties with a flat-four. And in the mid-Eighties, Porsche toyed around with the idea of a V8-powered 911.
After the first-generation 911 had been in production for over two decades, Porsche began development of its successor, the 964, in the 1980s. And one of its ideas was to use a V8 engine. So it took a 964, borrowed a V8 from Audi, gave it the rear bodywork from a 959 and dubbed it the 965.
The idea was to create a more affordable successor to the 959 that included its advanced all-wheel drive system and active suspension. The Audi V8 would have been replaced with one of Porsche's own design - possibly based on the it had built for Indy racing - but Dr. Ulrich Bez (who was then head of Porsche R&D long before taking the reins at Aston Martin) ultimately killed the project.

Robb Report chooses Porsche 911 as its Car of the Year

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

Robb Report has picked the seventh-generation Porsche 911 Carrera S as its 2013 Car of the Year, saying the two-door captivated its judges with "agility, driving dynamics and balance." The German coupe bested 12 others who were also in the running - the impressive list of nominees included the BMW M5, Audi S8, Ferrari FF, Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG and the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse.
Judging involved more than just throwing darts at pictures on the wall, as the publication enlisted a panel of automotive experts to test drive each vehicle for close evaluation. The panelists included 100 members of the Robb Report Club (comprised of top corporate executives and influential readers), Editor-in-Chief Brett Anderson and automotive consultant Robert Ross. Full results of the competition will be revealed in the luxury magazine's March issue, hitting newsstands in about a week. For more information, visit Robb Report online or check out the full press release from Porsche below.
