This Car has engine #741281, trans #160389 and color 6402 Ruby Red. The car was built 9/3/1965 These are matching numbers as verified by Porsche and a COA will go with the car. This car was owned by a body shop owner as a long term restoration project. It has not been touched for some years.

The engine was split and inspected and found to be good. I can tell you that it spins smoothly. The bores look good in my opinion. One piston was partially installed when I came to terms to purchase and all work was stopped. I would assume the engine will be torn down by the next owner.  The remaining pistons, push rods, etc are present..The transmission is a 902 four speed. The brakes are on the car and need to be overhauled. There is a distributor, fuel pump, clutch and pedal assembly. I believe there is only one wheel with the proper date code.

Please study the photos of the body. There are some gaps between removed rust and replaced metal primarily around the jack spurs on the driver's side.  It might have been caused by less than perfect welding heat. The front pan has been replaced. It looks very good but a battery bracket needs to be sourced. The floors and longitudals appear to be original. The fenders are for two hole horn grills. The original four hole grills are included and fitting them to these fenders is done regularly by different methods. Please note that there are paint blisters on the drivers door and roof as well as some slight rust bubbling around door latch areas. Once these areas are addressed it will be up to the owner to repaint these areas or the entire car. That being said, this car is very straight and the paint is very good. The doors and fenders are hung loosely and in no way represent final panel fit.

The pictures show loose parts. Not shown is the chrome/brass window frame for the passenger side. Besides the frame and some minor "orphans" like one SWB parking light assembly, exterior door handle and one open window winder, if it is not shown it does not go with the car. There are some boxes of stuff but there are no rear bumpers, seats, quarter windows or other obvious missing parts.

I have included as many pictures as allowed. Please contact me for any info or extra pictures. My phone # is 203 675 1343. The car can be viewed in Madison, Ct. before auction's end. This car is local pick up only;just way too much stuff to box and ship. This car comes with a notarized bill of sale only.

This 912 has the features of the first produced and is very rare.

Porsche Cayenne shows a bit more face, plug-in spotted

Fri, 14 Mar 2014

Porsche was first rumored to be working on a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the Cayenne over a year ago. However, we had never seen it, until now. The new model was caught almost completely undisguised while testing. In another stroke of luck, we got a glimpse of the upcoming facelift for Porsche's SUV (pictured above) as well.
According to the spy shooter, it was windy during the cars' cold weather testing. The cover blew off of the facelifted Cayenne, and there was enough time to snap these pictures before it could be hidden again. The changes are all quite minor but jive with what we saw the last time it was spied. The rear still wears some cladding but is expected to be hiding lights similar to the Macan.
The second gallery shows off the upcoming Cayenne PHEV. It looks nearly identical to the standard model, except for the extra panel on the driver's side of the car that hides the electric port. One image even shows the car plugged in. The new version is expected to use the same supercharged 3.0-liter V6 and 9.4-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack with a combined 416 horsepower and 435 pound-feet of torque from the Panamera S E-Hybrid. We enjoyed the system when we tested it last year. It's rumored to debut on the SUV sometime this year.

Porsche Macan caught completely uncovered

Wed, 31 Jul 2013

Porsche is preparing to launch its sub-Cayenne CUV, with a suspected debut at the 2013 Los Angeles International Auto Show, which means we're right about at the point where undisguised models start scampering around the cities and towns of Germany. Our spy photographers snagged just such a model, with only the headlights and taillights concealed by camouflage (no, those comically large lamps aren't a production item).
The undisguised car looks like a tiny Cayenne. Not really surprising, we know, but it's impressive to see how the Cayenne's styling works with the smaller proportions of the Macan. It looks squat, athletic and poised, like it's a small, "sporty" crossover we'd actually want to drive. Both the Macan and the Macan Turbo are shown, with the more powerful model sporting a set of quad exhausts.
The only big questions now concern the shape of the lights and the interior. From the photos, we can see a rough outline of the headlights, although the taillights are more difficult to discern. The interior remains a mystery.

Why you must buy an air-cooled Porsche 911 now

Fri, 14 Feb 2014

"Because" might be a good response to our headline, but as a vintage (purists might call 'proper') Porsche 911 is hardly cheap, we suspect you'll need a better explanation than that. Enter Drive editor Mike Spinelli.
Spinelli sits down with Zac Moseley and Mick Prichinello from Classic Car Club Manhattan to first explain why the market for old, air-cooled 911s has gotten so hot over the past few years, and to discuss if it's a bubble that's about to burst. Following that, this video is really is just three guys sitting around talking about old Porsches for 35 minutes. Which, you know, we're pretty onboard with.
