The hood and trunk both have a small bubble in the paint, both are smaller than a dime. The tires and brakes are 95% new. The engine runs very strong and doesn't burn oil. I run synthetic. The interior has no tears, the dash does have a couple of small surface cracks. The heater/heater boxes work well. The brake fluid will be due for its biannual change next year and the oil and valve adjustment or due in aprox. 3000 mile. No other repairs or maintenance noted."

You are bidding on a 1974 Porsche 914.  I am the 3rd owner and I purchased the car out in Costa Mesa, CA in 2004.  The couple before me owned it for 14 years and had all their maintenance and upgrades done at "The Haus of Performance".  Frank the owner knows the car well.  This car is in good shape but the paint is not perfect, it is a 40 year old vehicle.  I have changed the brake lines to braided stainless steel and the rims have been polished.  The tires are almost new and are ultimate summer performance(super sticky, don't drive below 45 degrees F).  I changed out the air cleaner and intake tube to allow better flow and the vehicle has larger injectors that were added by the previous owner for more performance.  The Borla exhaust has a "zoom pipe" that can switched out with the muffler.  It is obnoxiously loud and fun to put on for a few days out of the year.  I enjoy putting it on for car shows and parades, and you light up the night with it from the flames that escape it.  (Always good fun.)

The buyer will also get 2 extra rims, new carpet for the interior, extra lens and all the original equipment. This vehicle requires nothing to drive it home except gas.  I would not be afraid to drive cross country again.

Porsche digitally dissects its 918 Spyder for your viewing pleasure

Wed, 02 Oct 2013

At this point, you'd think we'd know all there is to know about the 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder - except what it's like to drive - but Porsche has released a new video giving us a more in-depth look at its new plug-in hypercar all the same. The animated video gives us numerous cutaway looks at the 918 Spyder while giving a visual demonstration of the car's four hybrid driving modes.
Though nowhere near as exciting as watching the 918 blast around the Nürburgring in record time, this new video is nonetheless both interesting and informative. Scroll down to watch the video yourself, and be sure to check out our live gallery of the production version of the car along with a stock gallery.

Porsche 918 Spyder gets tiny recall for rear control arms

Tue, 09 Sep 2014

As the recent US recall of a single Koenigsegg Agera shows, even low-production supercars aren't immune from safety campaigns. Now, there's another example that even the fastest cars can have their faults. The Porsche 918 Spyder is a pretty fantastic vehicle for its ability to mix hybrid fuel economy and incredible amounts of power, but Porsche has a problem on a few units of its halo model.
According to the recall document from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Porsche needs to inspect and possibly repair five 918s in the US because the rear axle control arms may break, which could cause a loss of control while driving. In the full defect notice, Porsche says that it first noticed the problem on June 26 when the parts failed during "heavy duty durability testing (extreme race conditions)" at the Nardo test track in Italy. It transported the components back to the company's lab for inspection, and on July 18 it issued a stop-sale to inspect the suspension parts on the supercar. The automaker also contacted owners by phone to warn them not to use the car on track, until repaired.
The affected 918s will be inspected, and if the cars have the bad parts, the control arms are will be replaced. Obviously, this will be done at no cost to owners. According to a Porsche spokesperson speaking to Autoblog, in addition to the five US cars potentially affected, there were 45 worldwide. All of the cars have now been checked. Porsche Macan to get four-cylinder engines

Tue, 10 Dec 2013

Porsche hasn't offered a four-cylinder engine since the 968 went out of production in 1995 - the better part of two decades ago. There'd been talk of a four-pot Boxster or an even smaller model to slot in below it, but while the latest intel indicates that Porsche is moving ahead with its four-cylinder plans, it's a different kind of vehicle that will get it first.
That, of course, would be the new Macan. Just revealed a few weeks ago at the LA Auto Show, the Macan crossover is being launched with a pair of twin-turbocharged V6 engines (a 3.0 with 340 horsepower and a 3.6 with 400 hp) and a six-cylinder turbodiesel with 258 hp. But smaller engines, according to emerging reports from Autocar and Auto Express, are on their way.
Word has it that Porsche is preparing a 2.0-liter turbo four with 280 horsepower and a diesel with the same displacement and cylinder count, engines that will power new entry-level Macan models that will slot in beneath the existing Macan S, Macan S Diesel and Macan Turbo. While the diesel is tipped to be ported over from the Volkswagen parts bin, the four-cylinder gasoline engine is said to be under development by Porsche itself, which could mean it will have a boxer layout.
