Year:1976 Mileage:18518

Salida, California, United States

Up for auction is a 1976 Porsche 914 2.0L that has gone through a complete restoration to make it the beauty you see today. In the past this car was used as a show car for local car club meets and events. No expense was spared during the professional restoration of this 914 (With 1200 hours and over $25,000 in receipts). The motor is the original 2.0L that has been completely rebuilt making it a 2.45L, stock crank with 103mm pistons and dual Weber carbs feeding it. The paint on the car looks great with no major imperfections to speak of. This car was originally red from the factory. The front and rear bumpers are both in good condition with some wear showing to both. The sails and top have both been painted to match the body. All the glass looks great with the exception of the windshield having a small 5" crack at the top passenger side. The interior has been finished in red and gray which looks great! The dash and center console are both in red with red stitching which gives the car a very rich, elegant look. Both seats are in good condition with minimal wear showing. All gauges are in good working order as well as all lights, blinkers, wipers and horn. Also has power windows, power antenna and a 12 disc CD changer. The shifter and steering wheel are both made by MOMO. The car has, an Omni Pack, mild performance cam, SS heat exchangers, Burshch exhaust and a performance air dam. The motor runs great and is a blast to drive. Recently installed is a new voltage regulator, ignition, axle boots, starter and both carbs rebuilt and tuned. It's a great road runner and will out corner anything on the road. According to the VIN number this was the 350th to the last 914 ever made. This car has gone through a complete tear down and rebuild with every nut and bolt being replaced. (literally) only 18,518 miles since then. This car has always been garaged and has no rust. There is a small area near the dirvers handle with a bit of raised up paint and a couple of spots where a touch up paint pin was used.

Also in the auction I am throwing in some extra parts: New clutch and accelerator cables, voltage regulator, oil screen gasket, carburetor brackets and gaskets.

I will also throw in my Haynes manual, custom Porsche key fob with light up key, original black key and red valet key and an extra key I had made. Also, I will send the original sales brochure (from 1976), owners manual, a 914 magazine article and my red diecast mini car (nice touch for the workbench).  Reasonable reserve. Good Luck!

Magnus Walker pops up again, this time with his Irish Green 911

Sun, 06 Oct 2013

He was the subject of a short film called Urban Outlaw. He has been on Jay Leno's Garage. Twice. He even graced the cover of Road & Track in June. And after all of that, he appeared in a video by Hong Kong-based Silly Thing. So it isn't really surprising that Magnus Walker is at the center of attention in the latest video from XCAR, but it's surprising - and a treat - to see his mostly original Irish Green 1966 Porsche 911.
Powered by an air-cooled 2.0-liter flat six with 130 horsepower (more like 120 hp today, Walker says), riding on 5.5-inch wide wheels and turned with a wooden steering wheel, the little green 911 does represent some of the best aspects of classic car motoring.
Head on below to watch the long-form video on Walker and his Porsche, but if your time is limited, you're not missing much if you call it quits at five minutes - especially if you've seen his aforementioned videos before.

Gemballa reveals new Porsche 991-based GT convertible

Sun, 16 Sep 2012

Gemballa went through the ringer last year, but rebounded with products that signal a complete turnaround. The latest is the recently-released Porsche 911 Carrera S with a Gemballa GT aerodynamics and technology package. Aero-wise, it includes carbon fiber additions beginning with a front bumper wearing the classic Gemballa air intake design and a lower, angrier splitter. New side skirts run from wheel to wheel, the final piece being a rear bumper in three sculpted horizontal sections featuring a rear diffuser tucked between six rectangular exhaust tips.
No engine mods have been made, but the technology part of the tune - springs that are 30 millimeters shorter yet still able to work with the PASM system - is claimed to make the car faster. Bringing things to a halt is a new Brembo brake system hiding behind 21-inch GForged wheels that are lighter than Porsche's standard 20-inchers.
The Gemballa GT aero kit runs €19,860 ($26,070 U.S.), which includes paint and installation if you happen to be in Germany, and we're assuming that includes the suspension modification, brakes and sport exhaust. The GForged wheels are another €9,895 ($12,989 U.S.) depending on your choice of tire. Check out the press release below for more info, and the photo gallery above for all the angles.

'Born of a Blue Sky' brings the Amelia Island Concours to you

Fri, 03 May 2013

The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance has more clout every year and is getting a reputation as Pebble Beach minus the madness. Held in March this year, it celebrated Ducati and the 50-year anniversaries of Lamborghini, the Corvette Sting Ray, Porsche 911 and the Ford GT40.
Justin Lapriore was there, and seemingly everywhere, getting footage of the various wares on display on the lawns and the sand and the runway. The resulting video, Born of a Blue Sky, is a 16-minute survey of some of the finer sights and plenty of engine sounds. Check it out below.
