1981 PORSCHE 928 S-COMPETITION PACKAGE(THIS WAS AN OPTION ON EARLY 928's. IT CAME WITH THE S MODEL 16" WHEELS, S
MODEL REAR/FRONT SPOILERS, SPORT SUSPENSION, RECARO SPORT SEATS, FRONT BRAKE COOLING DUCTS AND LIMITED SLIP
DIFFERENTIAL BUT DOES NOT HAVE THE LARGER S MOTOR WHICH I BELIEVE WAS A 4.7L
5 SPEED MANUAL
BLACK LEATHER INTERIOR
43,655 ORIGINAL MILES
4.5L V8 220HP M28/15 8110568 ENGINE CODE

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE AUDIO IN THE VIDEO ISNT THE BEST QUALITY. THERE SEEMS TO BE EXCESSIVE ENGINE NOISE FROM THE
VALVE TRAIN BUT IN PERSON THE NOISE ISNT NOTICEABLE.

THERE HAS BEEN SOME SKEPTICISM ABOUT THE MILEAGE ON THIS CAR. HERE IS SOME HISTORY ON THE VEHICLE. I HAVE OWNED THE
CAR FOR 1 YEAR. I PURCHASED IT FROM A LOCAL PORSCHE ENTHUSIAST WHO LOCATED THE CAR IN GARAGE WHERE IT HAD BEEN
SITTING FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. THE CAR WAS ORIGINALLY FROM TEXAS AND MADE ITS WAY TO CONNECTICUT IN 1986 WHEN IT
HAD 26K MILES(AS SHOWN ON THE TITLE PICTURE). MY ASSUMPTION IS THE CAR WAS DRIVEN FOR A COUPLE YEARS IN CONNECTICUT
AND ENDED UP IN A GARAGE AROUND 1988 AND NEVER SAW DAILY DRIVING AFTER THAT. THE CAR WAS NEVER REGISTERED AGAIN.
THE TITLE I HAVE IS THE 1986 TITLE FROM WHEN THE CAR CAME FROM TEXAS AND REGISTERED IN CONNECTICUT. I HAVE DRIVEN
THE CAR ON THE HWY AND MADE SURE THE ODOMETER WAS WORKING CORRECTLY WITH THE MILE MARKERS. THE OVER ALL CONDITION
OF THE CAR ALSO LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE MILEAGE IS TRUE. THE PICTURES DO IT NO JUSTICE.

VERY CLEAN IN AND OUT ORIGINALLY A TEXAS CAR(I AM NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER). NO RUST. BODY IS EXTREMELY STRAIGHT WITH
A FEW MINOR ISSUES. SMALL DING ON HOOD(BARELY NOTICEABLE), THIS CAR HAS BEEN PAINTED SOMETIME IN THE PAST AND LOOKS
VERY QUALITY. I WOULD GIVE IT A 8 OUT OF 10 MAYBE EVEN 8.5. I AM VERY PICKY.

INTERIOR IS EXTREMELY CLEAN AND WELL KEPT. LEATHER IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE(CONDITIONED REGULARLY). CAR WAS GARAGED
ITS WHOLE LIFE. CARPETS LOOK LIKE NEW. DOOR PANELS ETC LOOK AMAZING. A/C STILL BLOWS COLD. WINDOWS WORK PERFECT.
CLOCK WORKS. VACUUM DOOR LOCKS WORK AS WELL. ONLY ISSUES THE INTERIOR HAS IS THE DASHBOARD STARTED TO SEPARATE A
LITTLE BIT FROM THE RIGHT SIDE AIR VENT. A COMMON ISSUE ON THESE 928's. ALSO THE RADIO BLAUPUNKT HEIDELBERG SQR24 I
DO NOT BELIEVE TO BE ORIGINAL BUT IM NOT SURE WHICH MODEL CAME IN THESE CARS IN 1981. THE FFW BUTTON IS MISSING ON
THE CASSETTE PLAYER AND FOR SOME REASON THERE IS NO SOUND COMING OUT OF THE SPEAKERS. RADIO TURNS ON, ANTENNA GOES
UP BUT NO SOUND. ALSO REAR DRIVER SIDE PANEL WHERE THE SPEAKER IS HAS SOME DAMAGE.(LOOK AT PIC)

MOTOR STARTS UP AND RUNS PERFECT. CLUTCH FEELS PERFECT(NO SLIPPING). RECENT TUNE UP(OIL CHANGE, SPARK PLUGS, CAP &
ROTOR). CAR STILL HAS ORIGINAL PORSCHE BELTS AND RADIATOR HOSES. I AM NOT 100% BUT I ASSUME THE TIMING BELT AND
WATER PUMP ARE ALSO ORIGINAL. I DO NOT HAVE ANY SERVICE RECORDS FROM PREVIOUS OWNER. THE GAS WAS DRAINED FROM THE
TANK AND A NEW FUEL PUMP AND FILTER WERE INSTALLED. I ALSO HAD THE INJECTORS CLEANED AND FLOWED BY MARREN
MOTORSPORTS(I HAVE THE INVOICE). A NEW "GREEN WIRE" WAS ALSO INSTALLED JUST TO MAKE SURE IGNITION WAS 100%. ENGINE
HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND DETAILED REGULARLY.
I REPLACED THE UNDER HOOD INSULATOR WITH A NEW AFTERMARKET HARD FOAM STYLE WHICH WONT CRUMBLE LIKE THE ORIGINAL. IT
ALSO SPORTS THE PORSCHE LOGO. NOT TOO FLASHY BUT A NICE UPGRADE IN MY OPINION. ALL VACUUM HOSES ARE ALSO NEW(OLD
ONES GET BRITTLE AND UNRELIABLE). ONLY ISSUE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT IS ONE OF THE POWER STEERING HOSES HAS A
SLIGHT LEAK FROM THE COMPRESSION FITTING.(NOT BAD AT ALL)

TIRES ARE LIKE NEW(DUNLOP SP SPORT FM901 225/50R16), WHEELS ARE IN VERY GOOD SHAPE(SOME MINOR CURB RASH), SPARE
TIRE NEVER USED, WEBER FACTORY AIR PUMP(STILL WORKS), LIFTING JACK, TOOL KIT IS MISSING A FEW PIECES I COULDNT YET
FIND(PLIERS/SCREW DRIVER HANDLE/BOTH EXTENSIONS FOR THE SCREW DRIVER/8-9MM WRENCH). ORANGE SPARE BULB CASE
INCLUDED(SOME BULBS MISSING), FACTORY OWNERS MANUALS ALSO INCLUDED.

THE REAR SPOILER AND FRONT BUMPER LIP SPOILER HAVE BEEN PROFESSIONALLY REPAINTED WITH SEM TRIM BLACK. LOOKS FACTORY
NEW!

UNDERCARRIAGE OF CAR ALONG WITH INSIDE THE WHEEL WELLS HAVE BEEN TAKEN CAR OFF AND CLEANED.
NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND O2 SENSOR INSTALLED RECENTLY.
NEW FUEL FILTER RECENTLY AS WELL.
NO ELECTRICAL ISSUES AT ALL. EVERYTHING WORKS THE WAY IT DID WHEN IT CAME OUT OF THE FACTORY(MINUS THE RADIO SOUND
ISSUE)

IT IS A VERY NICE EXAMPLE OF THE 928. UNMOLESTED AND READY TO DRIVE. GREAT FOR A COLLECTOR. THESE CARS HAVE BEEN
CLIMBING IN VALUE AND ARE ONE OF THE RAREST PORSCHE MODELS EVER PRODUCED. A GREAT INVESTMENT ON A GREAT CAR.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PICTURES OF THE CAR UP ON THE LIFT SHOW THE EXPOSED MOTOR(UNDERNEATH). I DO HAVE THE SPLASH
SHIELD FOR THAT AREA AS WELL AS THE SHIELD THAT COVERS THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL FILTER(REAR). I HAD BOTH SHIELDS SAND
BLASTED AND REPAINTED SATIN BLACK. BOTH ARE REINSTALLED.

Stock Miata beats bunch of high-powered cars in wet 1/4-mile drag race

Thu, 06 Jun 2013

When is a stock, 167-horsepower Mazda MX-5 Miata quicker than a Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lotus Elise and a Porsche 911? When it's raining. Sort of.
Mazda Canada arranged a unique drag race to show off the fact that the Miata's optional power retractable folding hardtop can go from top-down to top-up in just 12 seconds flat. In this video, all six cars line up for a drag race, and it starts to rain (well, sort of - but you'll have to watch the video all the way to the end to see what we mean). The green flag is waved, and the timer starts as soon as the convertibles begin to put their tops up. But because the Miata's roof mechanism gets the car's roof back up a full 5.1 seconds quicker than the second-place car, the Mazda gets a serious advantage off the line for the actual drag race.
It's a fun video. And while we've spoiled the results (come on, the video was uploaded by Mazda, you knew the Miata was going to win), be sure to see how it all unfolds, below.

Porsche 918 Spyder gets tiny recall for rear control arms

Tue, 09 Sep 2014

As the recent US recall of a single Koenigsegg Agera shows, even low-production supercars aren't immune from safety campaigns. Now, there's another example that even the fastest cars can have their faults. The Porsche 918 Spyder is a pretty fantastic vehicle for its ability to mix hybrid fuel economy and incredible amounts of power, but Porsche has a problem on a few units of its halo model.
According to the recall document from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Porsche needs to inspect and possibly repair five 918s in the US because the rear axle control arms may break, which could cause a loss of control while driving. In the full defect notice, Porsche says that it first noticed the problem on June 26 when the parts failed during "heavy duty durability testing (extreme race conditions)" at the Nardo test track in Italy. It transported the components back to the company's lab for inspection, and on July 18 it issued a stop-sale to inspect the suspension parts on the supercar. The automaker also contacted owners by phone to warn them not to use the car on track, until repaired.
The affected 918s will be inspected, and if the cars have the bad parts, the control arms are will be replaced. Obviously, this will be done at no cost to owners. According to a Porsche spokesperson speaking to Autoblog, in addition to the five US cars potentially affected, there were 45 worldwide. All of the cars have now been checked. Car companies may need to start curbing model proliferation

Mon, 17 Nov 2014

Looking at the current automotive landscape, especially from German makers, you quickly get the impression that less definitely isn't more. BMW alone offers its 3 Series platform in practically every segment possible, including the regular sedan and 4 Series Gran Coupe, which would seem to be direct competitors. Porsche might be the winner, though, with 20 different variants of the 911 listed for sale on its US website. However, some of this model madness might be reaching an end as companies begin cutting back spending or shifting money to other priorities.
According to Yahoo Finance, the offerings from the German automakers are up 25 percent over the past three years to over 200 models in Europe. The peak is expected to come around 2018 at 230 separate vehicles, according to consulting company PwC.
Amazingly, BMW, which is among the poster children for this model explosion, might be changing its tune. "I'm sure there will be points in the future where we look at certain cars and say, 'Maybe we need to think differently now,'" said head of sales Ian Robertson in an interview, according to Yahoo Finance. The statement certainly sounds shocking coming from a company rumored to have 23 front-wheel-drive vehicles all using a single platform on the way.
