1982 Porsche 928 Euro, 5 Speed Manual W/ Limited Slip Dif (lsd) on 2040-cars
Frederick, Maryland, United States
1982 Porsche 928 Euro S VIN: WP0ZZZ92ZCS841199 (Ebay does not allow entry of European, pre-standardized (gray market) VIN numbers. The wife says its time to clear out some space in the garage so it looks like the 928 has to go, I bought this in 2005 and drove it until 2008 when I started pulling the dash and pod out to have them recovered or replaced also was going to replace the timing belt and water pump but after pulling the covers off and finding the belt in fine shape I decided to wait.......well time went by and priorities changed and the dash didn't get done. I do have a decent dash and pod with covers on them that will go with the car as well, no wires were cut and and the instrument cluster will just plug back in. The car is very clean inside and out (aside form the dash), there are no tears in any of the seats, the door panel leather is shrinking a bit and pulling away from the backing, the center console, carpet and and large rear inside corner panels were replaced and are in great shape, the wheels are 18" BW Motorsports and are very clean, it has a Momo steering wheel (Porsche crest horn button included but not shown). So it's been sitting since 08' and will need a new battery, a fuel system flush, tires and I would recommend a timing belt/ water pump replacement just due to age, with this it should run fine as it did when put away, It has MSDS headers and I had a completely new custom exhaust installed from the headers to the tailpipe, it sounds awesome. I wish I could foresee the little time needed to put it back on the road but I can't right now and we have too many other projects already. |

Watch the incredibly complicated operation of Porsche's new targa roof
Tue, 14 Jan 2014Despite Porsche having claimed the name, targa tops are nothing new. In addition to the semi-roofless version of the 911, plenty of cars in the past have used removable roof panels - the new Corvette Stingray has one (as have prior generations), and this type of open-air experience has been available on past vehicles like the Pontiac Solstice Coupe and Honda Civic del Sol.
But when Porsche took the top off its brand new 911 Targa here at the Detroit Auto Show, it was indeed cause for pause. Simply put, this is one of the most complicated and intricate electronic roof panel removal techniques we've ever seen, save perhaps, for the setup found on the Japanese-market Civic del Sol from the 1990s.
We won't spoil the video for you, but basically, rather than just the roof panel coming off, the entire rear glass area lifts away the body in order for the small section over the passenger compartment to slide back. This has to be incredibly expensive to repair once it inevitably breaks. And we highly doubt you'll be able to operate this mechanism at any speed.
Corvette gets slidey with Britain's best performance cars
Sat, 18 Oct 2014Autocar wants to find Britain's best driver's car, and it's challenging a murderers' row of some of the world's best performance vehicles to find out, including the latest Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. All of them were therefore assembled at the Castle Combe Circuit to find a winner.
If it wants to take the crown from this pack of mostly European competitors, the 'Vette has to beat some steep competition. Its challengers include monsters like the Ferrari 458 Speciale, Ariel Atom 3.5R and Jaguar F-Type Coupe. As a further hurdle for the winner to clear, Autocar also has last year's champ among the fighters - the Porsche 911 GT3.
Even if you're not at all interested in the C7, there's still something here for practically any fan of fast cars. The competitors include relative oddities among the pack like the Renault Mégane RS Trophy and Alfa Romeo 4C. Plus, Autocar has some well-positioned microphones that let you hear the Atom wailing like a banshee and the roar of the 458 Speciale. Check out the video to see which one of these all-stars takes home the award this year.
Malaise Era All-Stars
Fri, 17 May 2013A few weeks ago, we bid a fond happy 40th anniversary to the automotive dark ages of 1973-84 that have come to be known as "The Malaise Era" - the performance ice-age when 160 horsepower was a lot and a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds was remarkable. Like music in the 1980s, everything in automobiledom didn't suck, however. There were a few bright spots. Here are five of our favorites:
