Great example of a well preserved first year 944 Turbo. Looks amazing, drives great and ready for a new owner.

Always garaged with the exception of four months of its life when it was parked outside in Central and Southern California under a cover. Paint is nearly perfect, see photos for close ups of all blemishes. Color combination is my favorite for a 951 and is very rare. Not a single crack on the dash and interior looks nearly new. Best of all, it has the factory fresh leather smell (my favorite for Porsches of any year, make or model).

85,127 original miles. I drive it a few miles here and there so total miles will vary slightly. Includes tool kit, spare tire and service records. Recent service includes timing belt, balance shaft belt, power steering and AC belt, spark plugs, ignition wires, throttle position switch, rebuilt MAF, heater control valve, radiator, hoses, turbo thermostat, new CV Joints, oxygen sensor plus a few other things here and there. Clutch was replaced by a previous owner and feels very solid. AC needs a recharge.

Runs and drives as it should; turbo boost is perfect, idles well, stays cool, starts right up every time. I would have no issue using this as a daily driver. There are leaks that you can live with or fix: Oil pan gasket, lower balance shaft and power steering rack. I haven't had time to get to them so seals for the power steering rack and balance shaft are included. I haven't found any of these to affect performance but if you want it to be "as new" you can have these done or do it yourself.

I have the car advertised locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. I've tried to be as clear as possible with details on the car but please contact me if you have any questions or if you want more information.

Thanks for looking!

Porsche 911 with VW turbodiesel prepares for LeMons assault

Fri, 21 Mar 2014

LeMons racing is a wonderful example that setting limits can actually breed creativity. The series mandates that all entries must cost $500, not counting safety equipment, and that cap forces teams to be ingenious in how they build a racecar. Take for example this diesel-powered Porsche 911, which its creators have dubbed Ferkel the Nein-11, that will be racing in the Sears Pointless race this weekend in Sonoma, California.
This Frankenstein combines a 911 chassis that was originally bought just for its European powertrain and a Volkswagen TDI diesel engine mounted in the rear. After deciding the shell could still be of some use, the team decided to go racing. "We began brainstorming what replacement drivetrain to use for maximum offense and there was really only one answer: a diesel," said Philipp von Weitershausen, one of the team captains, to Jalopnik. They bought a 1998 Jetta TDI on the cheap and started figuring out a way to hack the engine into the bay. To pay respect to the donor, the VW's trunk was highly modified (and drilled) and grafted onto the back of Ferkel.
This team isn't a newcomer to LeMons. Its last car was a classic VW Beetle with a Subaru engine and dual controls, named Ferdinand the Bug, which could be driven from the left or right side. It's quite a sight.

2014 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S debut [w/video]

Fri, 03 May 2013

The Turbo S will dispatch the Nürburgring in "well under seven and a half minutes."
Porsche is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its 911 Turbo in the best possible way: by announcing the next-generation of the rear-engined beast. The 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S are here, and man oh man, do they seem like the business.

First-ever Porsche headed home to company museum

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

About 30 years before Ferdinand Porsche designed the Volkswagen Beetle, he created the Egger-Lohner electric vehicle, C.2 Phaeton model - or simply, the P1 - you see above. This was the first vehicle created by Porsche, and the car gets its nickname from the fact that he had stamped "P1" on many of the parts marking it as the first Porsche... sorry, 356 No. 1.
Now while you'd think that such an important piece of Porsche heritage has been in a museum or even the automaker's not-so-secret lair, it has actually been sitting at a warehouse for the last 112 years. Thankfully, that's all about to change as Porsche has recovered P1, and the car will soon be on "permanent display" at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.
The P1 has a 3 horsepower motor capable of delivering a top speed of 21 miles per hour and a driving range of 49 miles, and, like many vehicles in Porsche's history, the motor is positioned at the rear of the vehicle. According to the press release posted below, the P1 finished first in a 24-mile electric vehicle race in Berlin in 1899, but it has been sitting since 1902.
