Up for sale is a 1988 Porsche 944. This car came to us from the auction hit in the front end. It does run and drive. We did some of the repair work to fix it, but did not finish it. As shown in the photos, some of the body needs paint and the header piece up front is showing some rust bubbles in the paint. It is not showing in the photos, but the windshield has a large crack in it. We will include any parts that you may want to repair the car at the time of purchase (this does not include the windshield, engine, transmission or body parts that are already on the car). You would need to look over the car and see what you needed. This must be done at time of purchase.
This car has a PA Salvage Certificate. This means in PA it would need to be rebuilt and turned into an R-Title. Any other states, you would need to check into your own state laws regarding salvage certificates. I do not know any other states laws concerning Salvage certificates.... JUST PA.

Payment due within 5 days of the listings end. If you need longer than the 5 days to come and pay for the car, please contact us before purchase and we will see what arrangements can be made. Payment is Cash upon pickup. It is local pickup only, or you must arrange your own shipping. We are not arranging shipping for this car.

This car is being sold AS IS. It does  run but we are not doing any more work to the car at all. If you are arranging to have the car shipped, you must contact us with the shipping arrangements as we are a business with business hours and not available in the evenings.

Please contact us with any questions.

1986 Porsche 959 Prototype at Barrett-Jackson sees gavel fall at $440,000 [UPDATE: w/video]

Sat, 19 Jan 2013

Fans of Porsche in America have longed for the chance to buy a 959 ever since the German automaker produced and sold it (well, sold it everywhere but the United States...) in the 1980s. Well, they just had their chance. The car you see above is a Porsche 959 prototype built in 1986, and only one other running prototype still exists.
The 959 prototype can't be driven on public roads, as it carries no such certification. Somehow, we doubt that matters all that much to the new buyer - this one is probably going to be sitting in a collection. When the gavel finally fell, bidding had reached $400,000, plus a 10-percent buyer's fee.
Check out our high-res image gallery above to see this prototype up close, and scroll down below to watch a video of it crossing the auction block and for its official auction description.

World Car of the Year finalists announced

Fri, 07 Mar 2014

To say the 2014 Geneva Motor Show was packed full of news is an understatement as big as the show's home at the Palexpo convention center. Despite everything that we were able to cover during this year's show, there's still more coming out of Switzerland, including the announcement of the finalists for the 2014 World Car of the Year Awards.
We reported on the original list of finalists over three weeks ago, and now, that initial list has been pared down to three finalists for each of the five awards. The finalists were announced at a press conference by frequent Autoblog contributor and co-chair of the awards, Matt Davis (above).
The finalists for the overall title of 2014 World Car of the Year are the Audi A3, the BMW 4 Series and the Mazda3. The World Luxury Car of the Year will be either the Bentley Flying Spur, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class or the Land Rover Range Rover Sport, while the Performance Car of the Year will be awarded to the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, the Ferrari 458 Speciale or the Porsche 911 GT3 (which, um, yeah...).

50th Anniversary Porsche 911 vs. Jaguar F-Type Coupe is a battle of beauty, brawn

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

There can't really be a loser between the Jaguar F-Type Coupe R and the Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition. One might be better than the other, but if you're behind the wheel of either of them, you can't complain. In a new video, Motor Trend takes on the difficult task of determining which one of these European powerhouses is the best, not just in terms of raw performance, but also how they actually feel to drive.
The Porsche 911 is one of the perennial favorites of the motoring world. It just doesn't go away and always seems capable of challenging the top vehicles in its class. In this video, Motor Trend takes a look at the 50th Anniversary Edition model that celebrates that heritage while boosting power somewhat over the standard version.
The F-Type Coupe is an incredibly masculine car, MT describing it as "a British Corvette." The coupe's exterior lines are tautly stretched over its athletic body, and it's supercharged 5.0-liter V8 sounds like a demon's growl. Jaguar seems to have things right with its latest sports car.
