1992 Porsche 968 Base Convertible 2-door 3.0l on 2040-cars

Year:1992 Mileage:74342 Color: shows no major defects
Location:

I purchased this car as a potential project, but realized I do not have the time needed to bring this Porsche back to prime condition. I purchased this car from the previous owner, who had the vehicle since 1995. It has 27k miles on it when he purchased it. The car now has 74k miles. When I purchased the car, it had been sitting for at least 3 years. The car shows no signs of abuse, it simply needs work due to neglect. The exterior shows no major defects, short of needing paint. There is no rust to be found on the body. There are a few dings here and there, but nothing major whatsoever. There is a crack in the windshield, which will need replacement. The previous owner stated that the top has been replaced once, but it now shows two small tears that need attention. The interior will need cleaning and refurbishing. The seats will need to be recovered as well as the center console lid. Some random fasteners are missing, not many.

When I purchased the car, I had it flat-bedded home as I did not want to attempt to start a vehicle that had been sitting for that long without changing fluids and inspecting parts. I drained and replaced the oil, filter, and coolant, and drained the fuel tank. I removed the spark plugs which looked clean, and put a small amount of marvel mystery oil in each cylinder to help ensure the piston rings were not seized, and manually cranked the engine without the plugs in to coat the cylinder liners. I then put in a new battery, new plugs, new premium fuel, and cranked the engine but it wouldn't start. I then diagnosed that the fuel pump was not working, and replaced it with an OEM Bosch pump. After more cranking the engine did fire, and ran rough for a few minutes but cleared up and ran beautifully. Since then, I have tried to start it every other day. It always seems to run rough at first, but then clears right up.

I have driven it up and down the street a few times without issue. The 6-speed standard transmission shifts fine and the clutch engages well. The brakes seem fine, with good pedal feel and no strange noises. The lights work fine, but not all of the gauges work.

From what research I have done, there were not many 968 Cabrios imported to the US, so it should have a good upside value over time. I have a clear title in my possession.

I am NOT accepting offers below my asking price, and I am NOT interested in trades. This is a NO RESERVE auction, you bid, you buy! Please do not bid unless you intend to buy!!!

Please CALL (DO NOT TEXT!) with any questions about this car. 609-709-7237, my name is Ed.

2015 Porsche Cayenne spotted with facelift

Wed, 03 Apr 2013

Although it's only been a few years since the current Porsche Cayenne was introduced, Porsche seems to be working on a midcycle update for its big SUV possibly in time to welcome the smaller Macan. As seen in these recent spy shots, it looks like the Cayenne will be getting a minor face- and butt-lift, but it's hard to say what other changes are in store or when the updated model will hit showrooms.
Up front, expect the Cayenne's new face to resemble what was just revealed on the 2014 Panamera, and we could also see this SUV using some of the new engines introduced on the Panamera including the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 or maybe even the E-Hybrid model. We're guessing that the new Cayenne could debut sometime next year likely for the 2015 model year. In the meantime, check out the gallery of spy shots above.

Porsche resurrects V8-powered 911 prototype from the Eighties

Wed, 14 May 2014

These days, we take it for granted that the Porsche 911 uses a flat-six engine. That's because every version of the iconic rear-engined sports car has had one. Right? Well, for the most part. There was the 912 that joined the original in the late Sixties with a flat-four. And in the mid-Eighties, Porsche toyed around with the idea of a V8-powered 911.
After the first-generation 911 had been in production for over two decades, Porsche began development of its successor, the 964, in the 1980s. And one of its ideas was to use a V8 engine. So it took a 964, borrowed a V8 from Audi, gave it the rear bodywork from a 959 and dubbed it the 965.
The idea was to create a more affordable successor to the 959 that included its advanced all-wheel drive system and active suspension. The Audi V8 would have been replaced with one of Porsche's own design - possibly based on the it had built for Indy racing - but Dr. Ulrich Bez (who was then head of Porsche R&D long before taking the reins at Aston Martin) ultimately killed the project.

Porsche 918 Spyder could lap the 'Ring even quicker [w/video]

Mon, 16 Sep 2013

Porsche had a lot to crow about at the Frankfurt Motor Show last week. Not only did it debut the new 50 Years edition and Turbo versions of the 911 and the new hybrid and diesel versions of the Panamera, but while unveiling the final production version of the new 918 Spyder, it revealed the record lap it set around the Nürburgring.
The 918 Spyder's 6:57 lap time makes it the fastest street-legal production car ever to lap the Nordschleife and the first to break the seven-minute barrier. But the driver who clocked the time thinks it can go even faster.
That driver was Marc Lieb, who has won the Nürburgring 24-hour race four times, making him something of an expert on the subject. In speaking with Australia's Drive TV, Lieb suggested that they could get even more out of the car, as you can hear for yourself in the video below.
