**2002 PORSCHE BOXSTER S - 6 SPD MANUAL - WITH IMS BEARING UPDATE (DIRECT OIL FEED SYSTEM)**
You are looking at a very well kept and maintained 2002 Porsche Boxster S.
The exterior of this car is in overall good condition. It looks as if the previous owners cared for the vehicle and
garage kept it. There are some small chips around the vehicle but nothing very noticeable. The car is all original
with no modifications or work performed to it. The front right fender does show some paint work that may have been
from a dent or scratch, but all other panels show original paint readings and the vehicle has no accident history.
The front bumper does have rock chips and marks from normal wear and tear driving. The rear decklid has a burnspot
(about half dollar size) on the lower left hand side. The convertible top canvas should be replaced as the rear
plastic window is not in great condition. The car is equipped with original factory HID headlamps. The car is
sitting on original 18" Boxster sport design wheels that have no curb damage.
The interior is in very good shape. A non-smoker vehicle. The carpeting is clean with no burns or physical damage.
The leather does show some wear but is not cracked or torn. Both seats have some wear marks on the center backrest.
The center console is color matched to the exterior of the vehicle. Original BOSE factory sound system is still in
place and working perfectly. All of the interior power equipment is functioning with no known issues.
This Boxster just had recent service performed to it including: engine oil & filter change, cabin air filter, brake
fluid flush, front brake pads and air oil separator. The tires were also just road force precision balanced. This
car is also equipped with the Direct Oil Feed (DOF) and new IMS bearing (a $2,500 upgrade). The clutch disc,
pressure plate, release bearing and rear main seal were also done at the same time as the DOF installation. The
tires are Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 225/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear with about 50% tread life remaining.

Porsche unlocks secrets of its mid-engine 911

Porsche is beginning to realize that it's sitting on a goldmine of automotive history with its secret vault full of rare cars. Autoblog toured it a few months ago, and we were amazed at all of the curiosities hidden inside. Now, it's starting to let more folks in thanks to a new series of YouTube videos. The first covered the 965 prototype that shoved a water-cooled, Audi V8 into one of its cars. Next up, a mid-engine 911 that acted as the powertrain test mule for the Boxster.
The Porsche 911 is inextricably linked to its rear-engine layout. They go together like peanut butter and jelly. However, at the time Porsche was developing the Boxster, the company didn't want to lay all of its cards out of the table during testing. As opposed to using camouflage, it put a whole different car on top. The prototype looked just like any other 911 Targa of the day, but the biggest giveaway that something was amiss was the heavily tinted rear window. By obscuring it, inquisitive journalists couldn't peak at the new engine that replaced the backseat.

Porsche reveals new Panamera Turbo S ahead of Tokyo debut

For many buyers in the market for a luxury sports sedan, style is as important as performance. But while the Porsche Panamera undoubtedly delivers in the latter category, it falls somewhat short in the former. Porsche went to some lengths (if not quite far enough for some tastes) to improve its four-door model's visual appeal with the facelift revealed earlier this year, but now it's time to up the performance game with the new Panamera Turbo S.
Set to be revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show in just a few weeks from now, the new top-tier Panamera benefits from several key upgrades over the existing Turbo and the pre-facelift Turbo S. For one, its 4.8-liter twin-turbo V8 now produces 570 horsepower (up from 520 in the new Turbo and 550 in the old Turbo S and the latest Cayenne Turbo S) and 553 pound-feet of torque (up from the current Turbo's 516 but the same as the previous model). Despite the power boost, however, Porsche is quoting the same 3.6-second 0-60 time for the new Panamera Turbo S as it did for the previous one - but then that hardly required improvement in the first place. Top speed, however, is up to 192 miles per Autobahn-blurring hour, two mph faster than the previous model.
Other features include carbon-ceramic brakes (hopefully with more durable bolts than sister companies Lamborghini and Bentley have been using) packed inside the wheels from the 911 Turbo and an exclusive shade of greige called Palladium. And for the first time, customers will be able to order this top-spec model in long-wheelbase Executive trim. But don't expect it to come cheap: MSRP (before delivery and options) is quoted at $180,300 for the standard wheelbase and $200,500 for the stretched model. That's two and a half times the price of a base Panamera, and makes the new Panamera Turbo S Executive both the most expensive and most powerful Porsche your can buy this side of a 918 Spyder. Porsche resurrects V8-powered 911 prototype from the Eighties

These days, we take it for granted that the Porsche 911 uses a flat-six engine. That's because every version of the iconic rear-engined sports car has had one. Right? Well, for the most part. There was the 912 that joined the original in the late Sixties with a flat-four. And in the mid-Eighties, Porsche toyed around with the idea of a V8-powered 911.
After the first-generation 911 had been in production for over two decades, Porsche began development of its successor, the 964, in the 1980s. And one of its ideas was to use a V8 engine. So it took a 964, borrowed a V8 from Audi, gave it the rear bodywork from a 959 and dubbed it the 965.
The idea was to create a more affordable successor to the 959 that included its advanced all-wheel drive system and active suspension. The Audi V8 would have been replaced with one of Porsche's own design - possibly based on the it had built for Indy racing - but Dr. Ulrich Bez (who was then head of Porsche R&D long before taking the reins at Aston Martin) ultimately killed the project.
