2003 Porsche Boxster Roadster S Convertible 2-door 3.2l on 2040-cars
Athens, West Virginia, United States
Stop looking for a Boxster S - you've found the best one for sale on the market. From full options to complete service records (including the IMS upgrade kit - Google it), this has everything. EVERYTHING. I lucked out and bought this one-owner Porsche a few years ago, and it is like a family member. Full records and receipts from original bill of sale to last service. Meticulously maintained in every way, by two OCD owners (I'm the second). Intermediate-Shaft Bearing upgrade kit installed - if you don't know what this is, Google it, and don't even THINK about buying a Boxster without it. ($2000 upgrade) Options-wise, it has everything, from heated seats to the Bose sound, Carrera wheels, factory rocker panels, second set of winter "Cup" wheels, Speedster fiberglass covers (pictured), Xenon headlights, indoor and outdoor covers, multiple weather cabin covers, Borla exhaust system (factory exhaust included as well), LED tail-light upgrade...it's a huge list. Full-synthetic oil, always, and Blackfire polishes and waxes. This exterior looks better than new. Inside, BMW leather products have kept it supple and clean, and it has factory carpet mats, as well as a winter-set of WeatherTech (not that it has ever seen snow). This is easily a 3% car - Porsche owners generally maintain their vehicles to a high standard, but this one is one of, if not THE best 986-S models for sale anywhere in the US. It needs nothing. It runs flawlessly. It is heartbreaking to have to sell it. Serious inquiries, call or text. |

Porsche Cayenne, Panamera production halted by flooding
Thu, 06 Jun 2013If you recently ordered a Porsche Cayenne or a Panamera, delivery may take a little longer than originally expected. Automotive News reports that production of both models has been temporarily halted at the Porsche assembly plant in Leipzig, Germany as the result of supply shortages caused by flooding in the nearby Czech Republic. The reason for the stoppage is that the body of the Cayenne - currently Porsche's best-selling model - is produced at a Volkswagen plant in the Czech city of Bratislava and shipped by train to Leipzig.
The report does not indicate why Panamera production has been stopped - that the five-door's body is made at a separate location in Hanover, Germany. However pre-assembly will continue on these models. At full capacity, the Leipzig plant can produce about 450 vehicles per day, and it isn't clear how long this weather-related stoppage will last.
Techart modified Porsche 911 Turbo S packs 620 hp, 0-62 in 2.8 seconds
Wed, 05 Mar 2014Considering how many absolutely ridiculous tuner cars are featured in Geneva (stay tuned to see plenty, as our coverage continues), it's often refreshing to see some of the more modestly modified cars, like this new Porsche 911 Turbo S from the folks at Techart. Visually, there's a subtle body kit, new wheels, a new spoiler, and some lame decals on the front end, but it basically ends there. That's because Techart's mission is really about higher performance. Increased dynamism, as the Germans say.
An ordinary 911 Turbo S produces 560 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. But the Techart kit adds 60 hp and 96 lb-ft to those already high numbers, for a coupe that dishes out a total of 620 hp and 612 lb-ft. Techart says that, in Sport Plus mode, its modified 911 Turbo S will accelerate to 62 miles per hour in just 2.8 seconds, and the top speed has been increased to 204 miles per hour. Crazy stuff.
To further drive its performance upgrades home, Techart has fitted this 911 Turbo S with a sport exhaust system with valve control, for a more robust exit interview, at the push of a button. We imagine it sounds awesome. Have a look at the Techart Turbo S in the gallery, above.
Porsche would have entered F1 if Audi had blocked its Le Mans program
Thu, 13 Mar 2014Go back a few years and you may have heard rumors of Porsche heading into Formula One. That never came to pass - or at least, it hasn't yet - but that doesn't mean that it wasn't close to happening. That's how committed to returning to top-level motorsport competition Porsche has become recently.
Autosport reports that just as Porsche was merging fully into the Volkswagen Group, Zuffenhausen was weighing its options for a factory racing program. Le Mans was its favorite, which makes sense, as it remains far and away the most successful constructor in the history of the famous endurance race. But the strategists at Porsche were worried that its new corporate overlords at Volkswagen wouldn't support two LMP1 programs and would favor Audi, which has positively dominated the modern era of endurance racing, coming second only to Porsche in the number of Le Mans victories it has scored to date.
Porsche's Plan B was reportedly to head into Formula One, although it isn't clear if the German automaker was intent on starting its own team, buying an existing one or merely providing engines to other teams. Porsche fielded its own cars in F1 in the late 1950s and early 60s, and returned as an engine supplier with TAG to power McLaren in the 1980s, powering Niki Lauda and Alain Prost to the World Championship in 1984 and 1985.
