Up for sale is our 2004 Porsche Boxster S Commemorative Edition. It is one of 1953 vehicles produced to honor the Porsche 550 Spyder, which was introduced at the 1953 Paris motor Show. We have enjoyed this car (along with our 1964 SC sunroof coupe and our 1980 911) but now an older restoration project (SImca 8 Sport) is looking to be funded. There are a number of features of this Anniversary Boxster S that are unique…… no one of them significant, but the collection of small differences made the car very attractive for us. (1) At the time of production it had the highest output engine offered in the Boxster model line….. horsepower at 264 and a top speed of 165 mph (2) An extremely handsome all leather interior in a dark charcoal. (Many of the anniversary cars had a burgundy interior, which many people might prefer; I didn’t want to look at a burgundy steering wheel.) (3) This particular car (numbered 1077 of 1953) had a special feature requested by the first owner, and that was the option of “console delete”. That choice reminded me of the dash on our 356 SC. That silly little feature had a big impact on me. No plastic cassette storage cases / compartments hanging under the dash, just carpet between the dash and the shifter. It made the car seem more open and roomy. (4) The 18” wheels with “Seal Grey” centers and polished perimeters stood out as being so very different. (I did however, purchase a set of of 18” Porsche Carrera in all aluminum for a more traditional look if I felt like it…….never put them on) (5) Car is finished in GT Silver Metallic, a color only found on the Carrera GT. Those were the major elements that made this commemorative model special for us. Additional unique features mattered a less, but let me mention them. (6) The M030 Sport Suspension Package (7) Short Shifter (15% shorter) (8) Brake calipers carry a silver finish (9) Silver painted grills above the rear wheel openings (10) Special stainless steel tailpipe designed for this car (11) High end Bose sound system Importantly, this car has had the Intermediate Shaft Bearing correction kit installed (3,000) but worth every penny not having to worry about that issue. So that’s it !

Porsche board members facing another 1.8B lawsuit over VW takeover bid

Back in 2008, Porsche got the bright idea that it could take over Volkswagen in the midst of the worst economic slump since the Great Depression. Ignoring that this was a catastrophic move for the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer that that eventually resulted in it nearly going bankrupt and eventually being taken over by the same company it sought to control, the aftermath has left Porsche Chairman Wolfgang Porsche and board member Ferdinand Piëch in the crosshairs of seven hedge funds that lost out during the takeover and are now seeking €1.8 billion - $2.43 billion US - in damages from the two execs, according to the BBC.
See, investors bet on Volkswagen's share price going down, partially because Porsche said it wasn't going to attempt a takeover. But Porsche was attempting to take over VW, having bought up nearly 75-percent of VW's publicly traded shares. When word broke that Porsche owned nearly three-quarters of VW (which indicated an imminent takeover attempt), rather than go down like the hedge funds bet it would, VW's share price skyrocketed to over 1,000 euros per share, according to Reuters.
Naturally, when you bet that a company's share price is going to drop and it in turn (temporarily) becomes the world's most valuable company, you lose a lot of money, unless you're able to buy up shares before prices jump too much. This led to a squeeze on the stock, which the hedge funds accuse Porsche and Piëch (who are both members of the Porsche family and supervisory board) of organizing.

The new Macan may be getting all the attention lately, but Porsche hasn't forgotten about its larger crossover - the one that put it on the map in 2002 and on the road to profitability, with over half a million sold so far. So to keep the Cayenne at the top of its game, Porsche has announced several key upgrades for the 2015 model.
For starters, Porsche has updated the Cayenne's appearance with new front- and rear-end styling. The front bumper, fenders and hood are entirely new, with air fins flanking the nose to direct air into the intercoolers (each model now being artificially aspirated), and new bi-xenon headlamps and daytime running LEDs on every model but the Turbo, which goes all-LED. Around back there's also new taillights, tailgate handle, lower rear fascia and exhaust pipes. Meanwhile the interior has been upgraded with a 918-derived sport steering wheel and reformed rear seats with available ventilation.
The bigger news is under the engine bay, where Porsche is offering four choices. The base model is gone as the range starts with the Cayenne Diesel, followed by the Cayenne S, the new Cayenne S E-Hybrid and the top-of-the-line Cayenne Turbo. The Diesel model carries over the same 3.0-liter turbo diesel with 240 horsepower. The Cayenne S however packs a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 that's similar to the one found in the Macan Turbo and packs the same 406 lb-ft of torque but more power at 420 hp, 20 more than either its little brother or the model it replaces to reach 62 mph in 5.2 seconds.

"Well this is stupid." On the surface, that was our reaction to this video, as well. Why would you compare the hottest Porsche Cayman with a crossover of any kind, even if it is the 400-horsepower Macan Turbo?
We're guessing because it'd be bloody good fun, as evidenced Auto Express's latest track battle. To be fair, there is some interesting stuff here. The two do have a similar starting price, separated by less than $3,000 here in the US market. And, factoring in the Macan's hefty horsepower and torque advantages - 60 horsepower and 126 pound-feet - does make for a slightly interesting comparison.
