Up for sale is my 2005 Boxster weekend car. I absolutely love it but must sell it to raise cash for another purchase (not a car) that we're making.

Car has a clean title and no accidents. My Boxster is in great shape - exterior and interior - thanks to being a weekend vehicle and living in the garage. As you can see from the pictures, I'm confident this vehicle is cleaner than the majority of what you'll find out there. Even the climate control knobs which are usually worn and discolored on Boxsters, Caymans and 911s look perfect. It's never been 'tracked' and I drive like a weenie so this car has not been beat.

Extras?
** New set of Continental tires only have ~4K miles
** Cayman Rims
** Absolutely awesome factory-like bluetoooth/navigation/stereo system unlike anything you're likely to see on another Boxster. I did a write up of this entire system and the install here: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/boxster-cayman/277591-987-boxster-double-din-8-subs-doors-rear-speaker-kit-install.html
** Weathertech Digital Fit floor mats (also have the factory carpet mats)
** New battery and recent maintenance by 9 ELF Motorsports
** Porsche passenger airbag turn-off system (installed by Sonnen in Mill Valley)

This is why we love the Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer

Tue, 11 Nov 2014

In the world of restomods, Singer Vehicle Designs is inarguably one of our absolute favorites. The company, founded by rocker Rob Dickinson, has made its name as an obsessive constructor of vintage, built-to-order Porsche 911s with modern internals and beautiful accouterments.
Xcar has put together a lengthy interview with Dickinson, covering the source of his fascination with the 911 and his passion for automotive design, before falling into his rock-and-roll days with his band Catherine Wheel. He also covers how he got into the world of modifying Porsches, rather than just restoring them. There's much, much more in the video, though, and we promise, you won't want to miss it.
Take a look.

The mid-engine Porsche backstory

Thu, 09 Oct 2014

As an automaker's identity evolves over years, its signature becomes defined by any number of factors - heritage (Mercedes-Benz), image (Lamborghini), or market share (Toyota). In the case of Porsche, it was an engineering quirk that forged the German company's most enduring character trait.
Porsche would not have survived - let alone, thrived - in today's saturated landscape had it not been for the 911, and that slope-tailed sports car wouldn't have sprung to life without its predecessor, the 356. While phenomenal success of those rear-engine icons built the company, forays into the mid-engine configuration have played a significant part in establishing the brand's identity.

Porsche unlocks secrets of its mid-engine 911

Fri, 23 May 2014

Porsche is beginning to realize that it's sitting on a goldmine of automotive history with its secret vault full of rare cars. Autoblog toured it a few months ago, and we were amazed at all of the curiosities hidden inside. Now, it's starting to let more folks in thanks to a new series of YouTube videos. The first covered the 965 prototype that shoved a water-cooled, Audi V8 into one of its cars. Next up, a mid-engine 911 that acted as the powertrain test mule for the Boxster.
The Porsche 911 is inextricably linked to its rear-engine layout. They go together like peanut butter and jelly. However, at the time Porsche was developing the Boxster, the company didn't want to lay all of its cards out of the table during testing. As opposed to using camouflage, it put a whole different car on top. The prototype looked just like any other 911 Targa of the day, but the biggest giveaway that something was amiss was the heavily tinted rear window. By obscuring it, inquisitive journalists couldn't peak at the new engine that replaced the backseat.
It might not look like anything too important on the outside, but this is a major piece of Porsche Boxster history underneath. Scroll down to watch the video about this fascinating prototype.
