2008 Porsche Boxster Base Convertible 2-door 2.7l on 2040-cars
Salt Lake City, Utah, United States
2008 Porsche base edition. In perfect running condition. All
maintenance work UTD. I am the second owner. I purchased the car with
about 5,000 miles on it in Beverly Hills CA. Prior owner changed her
mind and traded it in for a Bentley. Fender bender requiring some cosmetic repair. No major mechanical
issues. I had a body shop clean up any chips and scratches from
routine driving. If there are any, they are tiny. The outside looks
and feels brand new.
The removable hard top ($3000 value) as you can see from the pictures is a fabulous addition. Not only does it give the car a completely different feel and look, but it is great for winter or rainy seasons and is incredibly light and easy to put on and take off (takes two people less than 30 seconds). Rag top and interior are chocolate brown. The interior is leather and is in great shape. There are some shallow scuffs on the center console on the passenger's side (shown in the pictures). But the interior is in excellent condition other than that. Always housed in a garage. Tires still have lots of life in them. I replaced them all at about 30,000 miles. The brakes and pads also have lots of life left on them. I had them serviced and replaced within the last year or so. The braking system and transmission of this car are simply amazing. The 2.7 L engine is more than enough to pass uphill on mountain roads with ease. It is a fun car to drive. Seat warmers. AM FM CD. No upgrade on the sound system. Thing is...if you are driving a Porsche, you want to hear that magnificent engine anyway. Tiptronic transmission. |

Motor Trend holds World's Greatest Drag Race for the third time
Fri, 23 Aug 2013As part of Motor Trend's Best Driver's Car competition, the buff book has held its third iteration of the World's Greatest Drag Race. With an airfield and a dozen of the world's finest performance cars at its disposal (oh, and a helicopter), the MT team did what any good group of enthusiasts would do, and tried to figure what car could cover a quarter mile the quickest. World's greatest drag race, indeed.
The contestants, as MT points out, cover a huge variety of engine types, drivelines, aspiration types and body styles, making for a genuinely varied and interesting field of competitors. Here's the full list of cars taking part.

Supercar parade entering highway is mesmerizing
Thu, 09 May 2013In what must have looked and sounded to motorists on the M6 like an invasion of The Swarm, a parade of 50 enthusiast gems leaving a charity event were caught shooting down the on-ramp and merging into traffic. There were plenty of Porsches joining the 959 and Ducktail above, Aston Martins going back to the badboy V8 of the last millennium, a Ferrari Testarossa, a TVR and numerous other Easter eggs.
There were not, however, plenty of turn signals, with someone counting just five among the fifty engaging in proper use of the blinker. One reason put forth for that is the same reason we're posting this video, which is from last Summer, below: "because supercar." Enjoy.
$1.4B hedge fund suit against Porsche dismissed
Wed, 19 Mar 2014Investors have canvassed courts in Europe and the US to repeatedly sue Porsche over its failed attempt to take over Volkswagen in 2008 (see here, and here and here), and they have repeatedly failed to win any cases. You can add another big loss to the tally, with Bloomberg reporting that the Stuttgart Regional Court has dismissed a 1.4-billion euro ($1.95B US) lawsuit, the decision explained by the court's assertion that the investors would have lost on their short bets even if Porsche hadn't misled them.
Examining the hedge funds' motives for stock purchases and the bets that VW share prices would fall, judge Carola Wittig said that the funds didn't base their decisions on the key bits of "misinformation," and instead were participating simply in "highly speculative and naked short selling," only to get caught out.
With other cases still pending, the continued streak of victories bodes well for Porsche's courtroom fortunes, since judges will expect new information to consider overturning precedent. If there is any new info, it could come from the potential criminal cases still outstanding against former CEO Wendelin Wiedeking and CFO Holger Härter, who were both indicted on charges of market manipulation.
