I love this car.  It drives like it's brand new.  It growls and the torque is amazing and addictive.  There really is no substitute for a Porsche.  The Boxster has received a number of international and regional awards including Car and Driver: One of the Ten Best list eleven times, from 1998 through 2003 and 2006 through 2010.

The car may have a few more miles than originally posted as I may run errands while the weather is still nice.  Since I have owned the car it has not seen snow and has only been in the rain a couple times.

I am a professor at Indiana University.  I am the third owner of this car and have only put on 12,000 miles.  Every time I take the car out I get a comment from a stranger.  The paint color on the car, Arena Red Metallic, is outstanding and changes its appearance based on the light shining down.  I tried to capture how great the car looks in photographs.

The car has been professionally maintained at World Wide Auto here in Bloomington (check them out on the web:  http://www.worldwideauto.net/).  As you can see by the photos this car is very clean.  There are minor paint chips here and there, and the driver's seat has wear on the side and a small crack on the bottom seat.  There is one small ding on the passenger side.  Again, these are all minor items.

The wheels are 18 inches and look great (Boxster S's have 18 inch tires). I've invested $2700.00 in brand new Michelin Pilot Sport Tires and they only have 10,000 miles on them.  Although I didn't need it, I had rear suspension repairs and the car runs like a dream.  I also do all my oil/fluid changes at World Wide Auto.

Call me if you want to check out the car in person. You more than welcome to preview the car in person before auction ends.
812-360-7863.  Feel free to send questions.  All sales are final.

I only accept cash in person.   Buyer must pick up car within 48 hours of auction end unless prior arrangement is approved by seller.

Porsche gives GT3 owners extra year of warranty, new engines in production April 22

Sat, 12 Apr 2014

While the auto industry reels from massive recall after massive recall, Porsche has quietly been working on a fix for an issue that's forced owners of the new 911 GT3 to park their track-ready rockets for fear of an engine fire. Thanks to a leaked letter from Porsche to a GT3 owner (which has been certified as real), we now have an idea of just where the German brand is at with the fix.
On April 22, Porsche will begin production of a new batch of GT3 engines for the 785 affected models across the globe. As you'll recall, the original issue rested with a screw joint that could loosen the connecting rod. The new engines have an "optimized piston rod screw connection," that should keep the connecting rod in place. Once technical validations are completed, production will kick off and new powerplants will be shipped around the globe for owners of the troubled cars.
Porsche will hand out a certificate to owners of affected cars once repairs have been completed, as a means of documenting the work. To make up for the trouble, Porsche will be giving owners an extra year on their new-vehicle warranty, while the 911 GT3 concierge will be reaching out to compensate them for having to park their car for so long.

Father-son team grows close by building tuned Porsche

Mon, 21 Jul 2014

We've seen several heartwarming videos of kids bonding over cars with their parents, whether racing together or giving them as gifts. The story of Leh Keen and his father McGrath, though, is somewhat different. Not many dads are looking for a vehicle quite this mental.
As Leh tells it, his dad saw a video online of one of the wild Porsches from Japanese tuner Rauh-Welt Begriff and decided that he needed one of the creations in his own garage. Since Leh knows something about cars himself as a driver for Alex Job Racing in the United SportsCar Championship, McGrath put his son in charge of managing the build from the company.
When the car made it to the US for completion from Rauh's famed builder Nakai, father and son bonded over the red, widebody 993-platform 911. The final product is certainly eye-catching. Scroll down to watch the video that features not only an engrossing father-son tale but also a seriously wicked, tuned Porsche from one of Japan's finest.

Porsche tuners 9ff, SpeedArt going bankrupt

Thu, 19 Sep 2013

Times are tough in Europe right now, and that unfortunately has reaped disastrous consequences for some of its smallest niche automakers. Gumpert, Wiesmann, Artega and Lola have all filed for bankruptcy this year, and it appears that tuners are not immune to the tough times, either.
Word coming in from across the pond suggests that 9ff and SpeedArt - two of the biggest names in Porsche tuning - have filed for bankruptcy as well. 9ff is best known for the GT9, a radical hypercar barely based on the 911, while SpeedArt was once of the foremost tuners of Porsches.
Fortunately there are still plenty of tuners ready to take a wrench to your Elfen, but the reported demise of these two makes the market a little bit smaller and - for Porsche enthusiasts - maybe the world a little bit lonelier, too.
