Let me start out by saying that this is an amazing ride. To my knowledge, it has never been on a track and I feel
confident based on what my mechanic has told me that most if not all the miles are adult driven. This car has been
babied. I didn't do any of the modifications outside of the new rims and tires. Nearly everything I know is due to
research on the original owner and from the professional appraisal I had done for insurance purposes. Including the
purchase price of the car over $160,000 has been invested in this beauty. I can't go anywhere without people taking
pictures and asking me about it. This is a heavily modified 2006 Porsche Cayman Techart GTS (Originally a stock
Cayman S) with LOTS of upgrades both for looks and performance. This car has been used as a model for advertising
some of the custom parts listed below. This car has been professionally appraised and insured for nearly $60,000
(See attached picture...I can provide more appraisal pics if needed). I am going to to my best to list all of the
features of this car and anything else I feel a potential buyer should know. I copied and pasted all of the typical
Cayman S options at the bottom and changed what fit my car but I'm going to manually list all of the nontypical
upgrades here:

Here are the performance upgrades.

1. X51 3.8L Cold Air Intake Upgrade-See Pics ($4000)
2. TPC X51 Clutch/Lightweight Flywheel ($2800)
3. Softronic Tune (Depends on shop but costly)
4. Underdrive Lightweight Pulley ($200)
5. Lowered and upgraded suspension using Techart lowering springs (I don't believe it has coilovers) (3 inches of
clearance at the lowest $3500) The suspension is very stiff and the car handles like a go kart.
6. ARP Stainless Steel Exhaust with supporting software and "Sound box" muffler tip added for aggressive sound (see
video above)

Here are the appearance upgrades that I can think to put:

1. Techart Front Bumper Cover ($4,500)
2. Techart Hood Badge ($330)
3. Techart Mirror Caps (Carbon Fiber) ($400)
4. Techart Ultrabright multifunction LED running lights ($1500)
5. Techart GTS Rear Spoiler with Carbon Fiber ($3500)
6. GT3 Grill ($50)
7. Porsche Seatbelt Covers ($10)
8. Kenwood DNX6140 Touchscreen Navigation/Bluetooth/DVD Player and Back Up Camera with remote (Originally
$749...not sure now)
9. Brand New 20" Victor Zehn Staggered Wheels ($1300)
10. 245/30ZR20 low profile Michelin Super Sport Tires with lots of tread life left (Over 90-95%-$1000)
11. Custom Painted Roof ($500)
12. Custom Clear and Acrylic Engine Cover ($650)
13. 2009+ rear bumper with LED Tail Lights ($1000+)
14. LED Pilot Sidemarkers ($100)
15. LED Engine Lighting ($50)
16. Porsche Red Brake Calipers ($2200)
17. Brand New Prismatic Headliner (Just installed 06/29) ($300)
18. HID conversion foglight kit ICE HID bulb kit ($200)
19. Xtec license plate LEDs ($20)

How Porsche got Patrick Dempsey into the driver's seat for Le Mans

Tue, 27 Aug 2013

How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice. Ask Patrick Dempsey and he'll likely tell you the same secret for landing a role on a hit TV show or, for that matter, driving a Porsche in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
That's because, like McQueen and Newman, Dempsey has earned his place in that rarified field of actors who also race. He's competed in Baja and Grand-Am, co-owns an IndyCar team, and this year returned to Le Mans where he and his teammates Joe Foster and Patrick Long finished fourth in the GTE-Am class behind the wheel of their Porsche 911 RSR.
It's a grueling race, and the fluid transition between drivers behind the wheel is a key element to success. Check out the satirical video below to see how Dempsey and company got ready.

Porsche 918 Spyder pre-production version in all its almost-done glory

Sun, 18 Aug 2013

Porsche continues the long tease of its upcoming 918 Spyder, with the latest instantiation here at the Pebble Beach Concours, with the car presented in pre-production form to the throngs on the golf course.
Just a few days ago Porsche dropped an image of the car on its official Twitter feed. True to that leak, this 918 looks damn near what we expect the full customer version to be when it is officially debuted in Frankfurt. The neon-green brake calipers are items new to this version of the 918, and seem to be an identical color to those found on the Panamera S E-Hybrid.
When it shows up as a drivable piece, expect the Porsche supercar, with its gasoline-electric drivetrain, to be pretty insane. Horsepower in excess of 800 ponies will be available with a toe-tap, while the price of entry is expected to come within shouting distance of $850,000. A good deal for Porsche to bring the thing to Pebble then, where buyers with that kind of cash are think on the ground (and most likely wearing sherbet-colored trousers).

Porsche planning Cayman GT4 racer

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

To say that Porsche is big in racing is like saying that Warren Buffett dabbles in mergers and acquisitions. But while it fields the 919 Hybrid at Le Mans and in the FIA World Endurance Championship, the bulk of its racing activities are undertaken by private teams that buy customer racecars from the factory. Those in turn are largely based on the 911, but the latest intel from the motor racing world indicates that Zuffenhausen is planning a more accessible customer race car.
The new, more affordable competition car is to be based on the Cayman and built to GT4 specifications, slotting in below the 911-based GT3 Cup, GT3 R and RSR. Autosport reports that Porsche has already developed a prototype and will shortly commence testing. Details are scarce at the moment, but the Cayman GT4 would seem to compete against the likes of the Aston Martin Vantage N24, Nissan 370Z Nismo GT4 and Maserati GranTurismo MC. It will also likely help Porsche foster enthusiasm for a potential road version that's already been spotted undergoing testing. Previous GT4 racing conversions of the Cayman, like the one pictured above, were carried out by third-party racing constructors not recognized by the factory.
Porsche may not be the only one showing interest in the category, however. BMW is said to similarly be considering a GT4-spec version of its M235i Racing model to compete in the same class, taking the place of the defunct M3 GT4 as the Bavarian marque's entry-level customer racing car.
