This first of the Silver Shadow series underwent a detailed restoration. It is a very true and straight example finished in sought after classic 2-tone Shell Grey over Tudor Grey with black Connolly leather interior, highlighted with hand-painted contrasting fine pin-striping to the waist-line and hub-cap beauty rings. This Silver Shadow it is a stunning example.

Beautifully and well restored some 6 years ago by us, it was a well maintained California example to begin with and has been owned by a Rolls-Royce enthusiast since. The body was straight & rust-free but the paint was faded (it still had its original single stage paint from the factory). So it underwent a high-end repaint, it is now lustrous and consistent. Being a brand new paint job in relatively recent times, and cosseted ever since, it is virtually without any marks or blemishes of any kind. The fine-lines were hand-painted by one of the few remaining craftsmen of the art. The car has always been climate control stored since its restoration and has never seen rain, snow or salt.

The interior is in stunning condition presenting in totally original format. The leather cushions and squabs on the front seats were redone and the rest of the original leather is very good showing a nice degree of patina. It is a very welcomed look. Overall, it is excellent in appearance with only displaying moderate use over the years (if you are the type that would like the rear seat to look as new as the front seat, let us know and we can refinish for you - only the seat cushion can you see a difference). Importantly, there are no cuts, tears or worn patches. The carpets are new Wilton wool, custom to made to factory look. The burl walnut wood is excellent with the dash, front window embellishing and all 4 door cappings having been refinished at the time of its restoration. The car has original picnic tables fitted to the rear of the front seats. The dash-board is the high-light of the interior with a stunning wood-grain that displays, by the grace of nature, a heavy contrast of light and dark grains

Pebble Beach Concept Car Lawn adds class to the grass

Sun, 17 Aug 2014

While Pebble Beach is traditionally thought of as the refuge of the pristine and pricey vintage vehicles of the world, there's no shortage of newer vehicles on display. And when we say "new," we mean really new. As in, not even in production new. This is the concept car lawn, and it's home to an eclectic group of vehicles from past and present.
Of course, calling it the "concept car lawn" is a bit of a misnomer this year (as it has been in previous years, too). Production models like the Alfa Romeo 4C were on display, alongside known quantities like the Hennessy Venom GT and modified versions of already-on-sale models, like the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Waterspeed Collection.
There were a few concepts on display, though. Toyota debuted the critically acclaimed FT-1 Concept in a new shade, while BMW's Beijing Motor Show stunner, the Vision Future Luxury, was also parked on the expensive grass. Also appearing were the Nissan GT-R in sheep's clothing, the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge, and the recently debuted McLaren P1 GTR.

Rolls-Royce teases Wraith debut in Geneva

Fri, 18 Jan 2013

Rolls-Royce is headed to the 2013 Geneva Motor Show with a new addition to its lineup: the Wraith. The ultra-luxury automaker says it plans to start deliveries by the fourth quarter of this year, though details are scarce at the moment. The automaker has contented itself with saying the Wraith will the "most dynamic, powerful and beautiful Rolls-Royce in the company's history." We hear it will be the most modest, too.
Rolls-Royce first began using the Wraith nameplate in 1938. The original car used a tweaked version of the 4.3-liter inline six-cylinder found in the company's 25/30, but its real claim to fame came from the fact that it boasted speed-variable hydraulic dampers. Capable of reaching speeds of up to 85 miles per hour, Rolls-Royce only built 492 examples of the vehicle's chassis.
You can look for the new Wraith to bow at the Geneva Motor Show in March. In the interim, check out the shockingly bare press release below and get ready for a spate of teasers to follow.

Is your brain predisposed to make you love Rolls-Royce?

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

XCAR has taken a look at what could very well be one of the most quintessential British cars ever built: the 1973 Rolls-Royce Corniche. The question at hand is whether or not expensive luxury items like artisan foods, designer clothing and yes, high-end automobiles are worth their monetary cost. Do they bring some undefined additional value to the table over their low-buck counterparts, or are they simply an excellent way to part a fool from his dollar bills? While the video below can't comment on four-course meals or $400 jeans, our valiant host does have a word or two on the joy a Rolls-Royce can bring to your life.
That's even true of a model like the '73 Corniche. Built during one of the darker days of the company's history, the convertible was designed and manufactured by an automaker on the verge of collapse. Still, it manages to hold on to that essential spirit of luxury so crucial to the Rolls-Royce brand. Check out the video below to see what we mean.
